The popular Emerson Resort is close by with a great Spa, antique shop, cafe and restaurants. The Emerson has a laundry facility on our property so you'll see their vans sometimes, but it's very low key and will not interfere with your privacy. Foxfire Cottage is a good alternative for invitees to weddings or events at the Emerson since it's just a five minute walk away! And we're now even hosting our own weddings here on the property so keep us in mind!
The cute, hip town of Phoenicia is just five minutes away, and the yummy Phoenicia Diner. Phoenicia has restaurants like Tavern 214 with delicious food, shops, and a grocery store. In the summer, there's tubing on the Esopus River, world famous fly fishing, and in the winter awesome skiing just 20 minutes away at Hunter and Belleayre Mountains.
Woodstock is just 15 minutes away with more shops, restaurants, antique shops, galleries, movie theater and playhouse.
And the great town of Hudson is half an hour away with amazing antique stores, delicious 'Fish and Game' restaurant to name just one, and makes a perfect day visit. Also check out the superb historic mansion Olana, once home of artist Frederic Church.

I almost don't want to review the cottage because it was THAT GOOD and I want to keep it a secret! :) Having said that, the place is just awesome. The pics don't lie and it's so tasteful, cute, cozy and homey. The decor is awesome, hip and chic. Pretty much everything you need is there at the house and food and restaurants are close by. We christened the new fire pit area and it's fabulous. Had a blast and can't wait to return. The TV in the master bedroom is a nice touch. Thank you Tim and Eliza - we love it and wish you all the best!
We had such an enjoyable stay at Foxfire during May. The set out is wonderful - and in summer, the high ceilings keep the place cool. But - the centrepiece has to be the kitchen. A must for those who like to cook - and then take that food to the deck and enjoy under the stars. A really special location.
We had a wonderful weekend visit at Foxfire Cottage. Tim and Eliza are amazing hosts and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The cottage is stunning, perfectly curated and decorated; we felt immediately at home. The surrounding property is also beautiful. The cottage is the perfect getaway from the city. We can't wait to return!
Foxfire cottage was great! The house was beautifully decorated and the property was great as well. Tim was a wonderful host and very accommodating. We can not wait to visit in the summer.
Tim and Eliza were the PERFECT hosts and Foxfire Cottage was the PERFECT place to celebrate Morgan's birthday! We went with friends and cooked in the giant kitchen, had a spa day at The Emerson (5-minute walk!) and cozied up by the fire at night. The cottage was in mint condition (SO SO SO CLEAN!) when we arrived, and it is so well-decorated we felt like we were in an "Architectural Digest" magazine photo shoot. We even arrived to a "welcome" bottle of bubbly from Tim and Eliza! Everything about this weekend was perfect and I can't wait to stay at Foxfire again, when the weather is warm, and cook outside on the big grill!
Tim & Eliza were perfect hosts and their cottage was such an oasis for our weekend upstate - it was exactly as expected and more. The weekend was very wintery and their property was beautiful in the snow. The cottage is very private with a great kitchen, tub and fireplace. Looking forward to staying again sometime.
We could not have enjoyed our stay any more. The cottage looks exactly like it does in the pictures, if not even better. Tim and Eliza also put in the effort to make a list of the best restaurants, hikes, etc. around the area which resulted extremely helpful as we were unfamiliar with the area. We had an amazing time even though it was snowing and cold outside, it didn't phase us one bit. It actually made it more fun. We are definitely coming back!

About the Host, Tim
Hi! I'm a chef and owner of an old summer resort in upstate New York that I'm renovating to open as a boutique inn. I've always worked in hospitality and it means a lot to me that guests are happy and comfortable and have a great stay. Everyone loves the studio apartment in the West Village because it's charming and has such a welcoming vibe, with everything that's fabulous about New York steps away!
