Amed is a unique experience that will touch your soul and stay with you forever. It is a true Balinese fishing village and the people will go out of their way to welcome you and include you in their daily lives. Fishermen are keen to take you out on their boats to experience fishing Balinese style or you can buy fresh fish each morning along the beach as they bring their catch in. There is so much to experience from snorkelling amongst incredible sea life, diving amongst the two major wrecks close by, long walks along the beach and mountain climbing or cycling. There are a wide variety of excellent restaurants and local warungs close by who will also deliver to your front door at no extra cost.
There is provision for parking on the grounds and motorbikes can be hired for $5.00 a day. A driver is provided to pick you up from the airport and any extra excursions can be arranged with the driver who speaks excellent English. There are daily fast ferries to the Gili Islands in Lombok leaving from Amed.
I have fallen in love with the town of Amed. The people are so welcoming and warm.
I have a husband and three children and hope that when they have all left home we can retire there.
