Getting around

The property is about 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes by car/taxi from downtown Quepos. From there, you have a frequent bus service (every 15 minutes, 60 cents/ride) to the beach and National Park Manuel Antonio. The drive takes about 10 minutes, also by car (parking along the beach or at the entrance of the NP)

Closest airport is San Jose (SJO), with several options for transportation to Quepos:

SANSA AND NATURE AIR are the two local airlines, taking you to Quepos or back to San Jose, the flight is 25 minutes, the ticket cost $ 75.-/pax one way. Both airlines can be found in the web and tickets can be easy purchased online.

INTERBUS AND GRAYLINE: shuttle service with several pick up and drop off locations.

The other option is a van transportation, pick up at the airport upon your arrival and drop off at Villa Malinche. This way you can already enjoy your drive from the Central Valley to the Pacific Coast.

VAN TRANSPORTATION: door to door service (any time day or night)
Ask us for the current price.

You can, of course, also rent a vehicle and drive by yourself, but I can always see the guests arriving very exhausted. For your individual transportation then in Manuel Antonio, there are several rental car companies with similar cars and prices:

RENTAL CAR COMPANIES represented in QUEPOS:
Thrifty, Hertz, Alamo, Adobe, Budget, Toyota, Economy, National

We stayed in both the treehouse & the villa on Thomas's property. The walk to and from Quepos is exactly as others described. Easy walk down but a steep & difficult walk back, highly recommend taking a taxi. We didn't have international calling on our phones so we had to go through Thomas for all our excursions & taxi rides. Wifi was spotty at best, especially in the villa. If you're around during the day/afternoon, be prepared to hear a lot of barking dogs. The "private" pool was fantastic and the best part of staying there.

Response from Thomas + Lili:
I am very surprised about that review from a young and avid couple that gave me the happy smile every time I talked to them. "Lot's of wildlife, great monkey shows, parrots and all that on the property"... The pool is shared with the guests in the other units of my property, never mentioned as "private". My help was most appreciated, I count over 40 messages of conversation, even before getting to set up transportation and more info. The entrance to the house (yes .... we are a bit secluded in the lush forest and not a town house...) is about 700 meters long from the ocean level up to our hills. "Difficult" walk on a road? My kids walked to school from here - and back up to the house....

Perfect location for a relaxing stay. You're surrounded by nature with abundant views of wildlife (monkeys, macaws, iguanas, etc) just steps from your back porch. The trek up the mountain was well worth it for the views and the atmosphere. Thomas was incredibly helpful securing excursions and arranging transportation. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

Thomas picked us up from a pre arranged meeting point. The view from this place is superb. Wildlife is on the doorstep, monkeys, macaws, iguanas and geckos in the room catching tiny insects. This is family home with them living in the grounds but unless you see them walking around you would never know. There's a shared plunge pool between the property's which is great for a quick dip. The terrace is excellent to hang out in the hammocks. The howler monkeys will kindly wake you up around 6am but well worth it. It's a steep hill from the property into town which gets the blood flowing. It's Costa Rica so take your time and it's enjoyable.

This place is amazing, and the views are even better in person! There is even a private beach you can hike to through the rainforest in the back. Thomas was extremely helpful throughout the trip with tips and assistance booking tours. The only thing I would say to be aware of is the noises of the rainforest. Due to the very authentic rainforest nature of the home, the night time can be quite lively with sounds of the rainforest.

This place was an amazing find! Thomas was so helpful from the very beginning when we booked the place. He booked our excursions for us, set up transportation to and from the airport, and answered every question we had. His house is beautiful and has the most amazing views!! You are surrounded by nature and we even saw about 40 squirrel monkeys right in the back yard! The pool is small but perfect. The walk down the big hill into town isn't too bad, took about 15 minutes, just watch your footing as it is slippery and steep. We took a taxi home everytime as the hill going up was just way too daunting. We had an amazing trip and hope to come back one day!!

I cannot tell you how wonderful our stay at Villa Malinche was!! When we first arrived Thomas was there to greet us (after he set up our taxi ride from the airport) and the villa is even BETTER than the photos. The view was one of the best views we saw and everything is so new and clean we were so excited for our stay. We rarely saw Thomas unless we were up super early and saw him cleaning the pool or we had questions. He was always a phone call or message away and he always responded immediately if we needed anything. The grounds are simply pristine and the plants on the property were some of the most beautiful plants we saw our entire trip. The inside of the villa is so perfect and very private. It is the perfect size for a couple and so uniquely decorated we absolutely loved it. We enjoyed walking up and down the hill to town (about 20 mins total) as it was a beautiful walk. Yet if we were too tired or had groceries it was a simple $4 cab ride. We had zero problems with bugs or pests. Hearing the monkeys in the morning is so cool! The observation deck and gorgeous pool were the cherry on top!!! I definitely recommends hiking to Playa La Macha from the villa. Thomas led us some of the way and pointed us in the right direction from there. It is a steep hike but very doable and not too long. We took a cooler and snacks and had the entire beach to ourselves. We had never been to Costa Rica and I was so glad we were not staying in a resort when we got there. We got to experience the real Quepos/Manuel Antonio but then came home to our luxury villa that was way better than any resort or Airbnb I have ever stayed in. I highly recommend Thomas' place I promise you will not regret it!!!!!!

Moved from Switzerland 18 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green area, where I offer the Villa Malinche, the Tree House and the Jungle Dream Cabin. Our environment is like the National Park, lot's of birds, wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest!
My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massages, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an onsite treatment during your stay!
We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
