From the very beginning Thomas provided extensive details on the place, location, transportation, amenities, and activities that he would be able to set you up with as soon as you got there. Whenever I had a question about the place or the area in general he was extremely prompt and thorough in his answers.
As far as the place goes, it was beautiful! The road up there is just a bit treacherous but we were able to manage in a two wheel drive car. Once you get to the property it is quite a site to see. There are gorgeous plants and flowers everywhere. And thomas is out by the pool every morning cleaning it for guests. The place is for the downstairs unit, where Thomas lives in the upper unit. Although it shares the same building, Thomas and Lilli do a great job at giving guests their privacy.
There were just a couple things that we had some issues with. The wifi only comes in at certain spots outside of the building. We wished that perhaps there was a separate router for the downstairs unit. Second, the way the shower is set up, there is no curtain so oftentimes the bathroom floor would be soaked after showers and we would have to use up towels to clean it. Lastly, it was a little difficult to lounge in the livingroom as the couch/fouton was pretty uncomfortable. These three things are just me being picky though. The place really is amazing and a great way to explore the quepos/manual antonio area!
Wonderful villa. Exactly as described and Thomas was a great help in getting our activities booked upon our arrival. Be prepared for no air conditioning but the fans worked well. Also the hill to the house is quite steep and rugged so I would recommend a SUV rather than car. The pool is wonderful and we did see monkeys and a sloth from the house. Great experience.
We came here for our honeymoon and were blown away by our hosts friendliness and the home's beauty. The pictures of the suite don't even do it justice - it's a small slice of paradise. Our host was exceptionally helpful in setting us up with the most conscientious of tours and adventures, and helped us out anytime we needed more information or a hand with something in the home. Communication both before and during our stay was excellent and prompt. We were made to feel like family friends - I suspect that Thomas and Lili make many people feel this way. The town is quaint and very friendly, and the 15 minute walk up the hill at the end of our days was always rewarded with a deliciously refreshing dip in the pool. We cannot recommend Villa Malinche enough.
Beautiful property, jungle type feel. Very clean. The hosts were kind and helpful.
Not as private as preferred.
I am not quite sure what privacy was preferred. The Villa is a large independent apartment, with own kitchen, bathroom, living area and bedroom, with blinds and curtains. Most of our guests love the idea to be integrated in nature, to look at the ocean view and see animals in the trees. Just Lili and me are living upstairs in our own house, which is bit behind the location of Villa Malinche. We completely respect the privacy of our guests, unless we are called if there is a problem or a special request, or to spray some ants that are crossing the patio…
Loved the house! Beautiful view and great hammocks. Would definitely go again. Thomas was great to us.
Thomas was extremely welcoming. He meet us and led us directly to the lovely home that he and his wife share. We were greeted by an beautiful oasis. The accommodations were 5 star! Every amenity was provided for: soaking tub, pool, dueling hammocks, soft bed, ceiling fans, fridge for cool drinks and so much more!
We saw wildlife right out our hammocks. One morning we shared coffee with an iguana and sloth in the tree off the deck.
Thomas was extremely helpful with all of our questions. He recommended a knowledgeable guide that led us through Manuel Antonio and a beach with snorkeling.
Overall great stay!!!
Our host provided information about the area and things to do (attractions, restaurants); also, provided the option of having massages and/or a personal chef. Their help coordinating and reserving our events was very helpful! Tomas and Lili are known by many in town; only mention their names or Villa Malinche and you are met with smiles and nice words. The Villa is beautiful and the landscape and scenery are breathtaking! Though very secluded, there were times that privacy was an issue (confirm if anyone will be staying in the home above the Villa). We stayed during June (which is part of Costa Rica's winter); however, the heat and humidity may be uncomfortable if you are used to air conditioning. Fortunately, during the late evening it usually cools off with the ocean breeze and rain storms. (The rain at night is very soothing!)

About the Host, Thomas + Lili
Moved from Switzerland 16 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green zone, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest!
My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an onsite treatment during your stay!
We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
