Brand new, very private and extremely quiet Apartment, sleeps 2 + 1, full equipped kitchen, cable TV LCD 32", sound system, high speed wifi, BBQ, bathroom with blower equipped tub, great ocean views with spectacular sunsets. NEW pool on the property!

A paradise for nature lovers, a private jungle trail leads to a river platform surrounded by lush tropical forest. Colorful birds, butterflies and tropical animals can be watched, as well as all 3 different kinds of monkeys of Costa Rica visit the surrounding trees frequently.

The constant breeze invites to relax in- and outside, around tropical flowers and plants, just lay back in our comfortable hammocks. With one full week booking one free massage (relaxation) is included.

The interior is carefully designed and manufactured with recycled wood and antique decoration objects from the former banana companies in Quepos. A piece of history!

Location: just up-hill from the new Marina of Quepos and weekly farmers market, private access road, save parking.
Ocean views: West - the complete coastline (sunsets!), South - to the peninsula Punta Quepos

Getting around

The property is about 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes by car/taxi from downtown Quepos. From there, you have a frequent bus service (every 15 minutes, 60 cents/ride) to the beach and National Park Manuel Antonio. The drive takes about 10 minutes, also by car (parking along the beach or at the entrance of the NP)

Closest airport is San Jose (SJO), with several options for transportation to Quepos:

SANSA AND NATURE AIR are the two local airlines, taking you to Quepos or back to San Jose, the flight is 25 minutes, the ticket cost $ 75.-/pax one way. Both airlines can be found in the web and tickets can be easy purchased online.

INTERBUS AND GRAYLINE: shuttle service with several pick up and drop off locations.

The other option is a van transportation, pick up at the airport upon your arrival and drop off at Villa Malinche. This way you can already enjoy your drive from the Central Valley to the Pacific Coast.

VAN TRANSPORTATION: door to door service (any time day or night)
Ask us for the current price.

You can, of course, also rent a vehicle and drive by yourself, but I can always see the guests arriving very exhausted. For your individual transportation then in Manuel Antonio, there are several rental car companies with similar cars and prices:

Thrifty, Hertz, Alamo, Adobe, Budget, Toyota, Economy, National

  • Thomas and Lili's home is amazing! Tucked away up in the hills of Manuel Antonio, the view and landscape is stunning. We also had a great dinner with Lili's sister who is a private chef and I definitely recommend trying it out! They will also book any type of excursion for you, so it makes it extremely easy and trustworthy.

  • We arrived from Austin, TX for our Honeymoon. We knew we were taking a bit of chance by booking on AirB&B for such an important event. We trusted the great reviews, and we couldn't have been happier. Thomas & Lili made us feel right at home. They were always ready to help with anything from directions, to in-house Massage, to Private Chef! (Lili's lovely sister Marisol, we recommend a private meal with her! very reasonably priced.) The Casita we stayed in was exactly like in the photos, but the view is impossible to capture in a photo. The handmade furniture (Made by Thomas) is beautiful. The local people (Ticos) are very friendly, and helpful. You really feel that they have a strong sense of pride in their community. The wildlife and the beaches are absolutely amazing! We could not recommend Villa Malinche more. Thomas and Lilly, thank you again for all of the wonderful memories. We will be back very soon!

  • My wife and I had a WONDERFUL stay at Villa Malinche. Thomas and Lili were more than accommodating... in fact they woke up with us in the middle of the night after I had an allergic reaction to some fish, and took us to a private doctor office at 2am!!
The grounds make it easy to relax, and the ocean view is astounding. On top of that, my wife had an incredible massage from Lili on our last day, finishing off one of the best vacations we've ever had!

  • Villa Malinche was our first Airbnb experience and from arrival to departure, the experience was absolutely FIRST CLASS. First, the VILLA: Thomas and Lili are design and hospitality pros. They have an eye for detail that makes every corner of the Villa unique and interesting. The Villa is well-appointed, super clean, very private and positioned for incredible views of the Pacific and surrounding flora and fauna. Do you like the posted pictures? It is even better in person. The howl of monkeys, the chirp of geckos, the birdsong, it's all here, whether you choose to sit outside on the hammock patio or inside behind the large screened doors (which allow for fresh breezes with nary a bug in sight). The grounds are manicured with beautiful plants and flowers, and Thomas has thoughtfully created private spaces (e.g., the pool area, the nature trail) that are contemplative and rejuvenating, perfect after a day of exploring the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area and participating in the adventure activities on offer. Indeed, the comfort and location of the Villa is such that you may find yourself spending more time at the house than in the surrounding area. Second, our HOSTS: As noted, Thomas is a hospitality professional so he KNOWS what is going on. If you are inclined to adventure activities (or any other activity that he notes in the helpful packet of information provided at the Villa), I urge you to let Thomas book them for you. For us, he booked a canopy tour and whitewater rafting. His recommendations were less corporate, more intimate, safer and put us in touch with some wonderfully cordial and highly skilled and knowledgeable guides. Thomas is a fantastic resource who quickly responds to pre-trip questions and is readily available when you need him during your stay. He will arrange for transportation, food and almost anything else you may need. An incredible host. Finally, the LOCATION: The Villa sits hilltop at the end of a road in the old Zona Americana. While the road has significantly deteriorated since the palm oil/banana barons left, it is still accessible by taxi or rental car (provided you proceed very slowly through the numerous potholes). The Villa is a scenic 15 minute walk to Quepos and about 10 minutes to a lovely park overlooking the ocean. One caveat, everything is on hill in this area so expect a vigorous hike at times. From Quepos, we took taxis to Villa at night (less than $5). Carry a flashlight if you decide to walk back at night. Quepos itself is a great base for everything on offer. Easy access to Manuel Antonio by (inexpensive) bus, the local airport, tours, etc. Many places to eat at all price points. In sum, the numerous 5-star reviews are accurate. This place is paradise. If you are on the fence about lodging in the Quepos area, BOOK VILLA MALINCHE. You will have an amazing experience and meet some of the finest hosts Airbnb has to offer.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Villa Malinche from Apr 29th - May 6th. We only have great things to say about the host and his villa. The Villa looks exactly as in pictures, no exaggeration. It is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. If you like animals you will have a blast seeing monkeys and iguanas playing right on your backyard. The house is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances and the best thing is the bbq! We would buy some bbq chicken or fish at the local grocery store (Pali - which is just 5 mins driving from the house, or if you want more selection drive to Maxi Pali about 10 mins from the house) and grill it, cheap fast and delicious! Make sure you visit the farmers market on Friday (starting at 3pm until late) or Sat (starting at 7am until noon) to load up on fresh fruits and veggies that are very cheap comparing to grocery store prices.
The only thing to be aware of at the house is the open concept bathroom. We had to get used to it ;) and also the drive up to the house is very bumpy, so be very careful! Another tip that i would give is not to buy alcohol at Wallmart in San Jose if that's where you land as it is much more expensive, find some little local liquor stores in Quepos itself.
For those who are concerned about the A/C as we were, don't be! It gets very breezy at night time, so the fan over your bed is more than enough!
Overall we had an amazing time! Thomas and Lili are very hospitable and friendly and Vannessa (the maid) is very helpful and thorough in her cleaning! Thomas helped us organize a few tours and we absolutely loved both of them. We highly recommend the 7in1 tour and also White Water Rafting. Both companies provide very knowledgeable, experienced and super fun guides and both tours are very adventurous! Defintely worth the money!!
If you have time visit the Biesanz Beach (if im spelling it correctly) for snorkling. You can bring your own gear or rent it on the beach. Also visit the Cave Beach located close to Playa Dominical (can't remember the exact name of the Beach), it's pretty cool, especially on a windy day:)

Hope my review was helpful. Have fun!:)

  • We cannot say enough wonderful things about villa malinche! Not only was it exactly as advertised, but better. Beautiful, tropical, clean, private, and convenient to quepos and the marina. Thomas and Lili are fabulous hosts and very available when you need them. Bill and I have already talked about visiting again!

  • We had a fantastic three days at Villa Malinche. The location is beautiful and the villa is as spectacular as it looks in the pictures. I have only good things to say about both the villa and Thomas and Lili. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed at Villa Malinche as part of our honeymoon tour. It was a beautiful home with a great view! There were fruit trees right outside the door including cashew, papaya, and I think guanabana. We were graced with the presence of a family of titi monkeys that were eating the cashew fruit. Cute little monkeys. We were able to walk from the Villa in to Quepos and see mango trees, iguanas, and beautiful ocean views on our way. The sunsets at night were breath taking. We did not have a car, but Thomas recommended the family's cab driver that was very friendly, drove us around, took us home sometimes, and took us all the way back to the airport with a tour on the way. We miss you Galleta. :) I loved the screen doors, hammicks, and comy Villa. Thomas met us in town and picked us up. Very friendly. We hope to come back someday. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you Thomas. Pura Vida!

  • WOW!!! This was our first AirBnB stay and will be hard to beat!! A tranquil setting with sea views and playful monkeys to watch!!! The villa was stunning!! We spent a few lazy days not even leaving the grounds enjoying the pool and hammocks..
We did not rent a car for our week stay, and found it very easy to walk to town day and nite (I would recommend bringing a headlite/flashlite for the nite walk). Yes, the road up to the villa could use some repair, but if you do rent a car take it slow and you will be fine.
In the villa's kitchen you will find all you need to create your own delicious meals with fruit and vegetables bought at the Farmers Market on Friday/Saturday or from the markets down by the main bus depot. We loved having our morning coffee and smoothies relaxing in the chairs watching the spider monkeys in the fruit tree right in front of us!! I think we saw more wildlife from those chairs than we did touring Manuel Antonio Park..
The bed is comfortable, the shower is fabulous, and the TV is NOT needed!!!
Thomas helped arrange our transport from San Jose to Quepos and we were able to stop a few times to pick up snacks and see the crocodiles...He even filled our request to have cold beer waiting on our arrival at the villa!!!
I WILL be telling all my friends about Villa Malinche

  • We had a lovely stay at Villa Malinche. Thomas was incredibly helpful and met us in downtown Quepos to lead the way to our beautiful home for the week.

The views from the home are incredible, and we enjoyed relaxing outside on the hammocks and watching the sunset over the ocean. We loved the sounds of the surrounding wildlife, and the entire landscape. The new pool was perfect for cooling off in the afternoons.

It is a short drive to town and the beaches, and once you get used to driving up and down the hill, it is really an easy trip back and forth. We attended the market on Friday afternoon and stocked up on delicious foods to make back at the house.

We had a fantastic stay and hope to return one day! Thank you, Thomas and Lili!

Moved from Switzerland 15 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green area, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest! My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an in-home treatment during your stay! We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
