I stayed with Alexandra and her daughter Marija for 4 nights while I was doing some work in Vilnius. I absolutely loved their old house. It has high ceilings, old massive floor boards, antique furniture combined with modern items – it's brilliant. Alexandra and Marija are very sweet people and I loved chatting with them whenever I had a free moment, sipping some of the wonderful teas they keep in their kitchen. I also hope to stay with them also in the future!
I was a guest in Alexandra and Marija's beautiful home for two weeks and could not have been happier. Their space is spotless and also gorgeous, with large rooms, high ceilings, and big windows that look out over leafy streets. It's full of extraordinary antique furniture and interesting art and books. They clearly have an expert eye for color and design, and it's a privilege to be welcomed into such a beautiful home. They're also located near several excellent restaurants and shops in the old town, and Marija and Alexandra were nice enough to point me in the direction of their favorite galleries and vegetarian restos. Indeed as hosts Alexandra and Marija were kind, helpful, and interesting, and I'd love to see them again! One night, I was even lucky enough to be invited to Alexandra's dinner party, where I met new friends and ate the best meal I had in Vilnius. Thank you, Alexandra and Marija, for a magical stay!
I had a great stay in Vilnius at Alexandra's and Marija's house. Communication was mainly with Marija who gave me a lot of great tips about Vilnius, lent me an umbrella when the weather was not so good and even offered an invitation to a ballet show I had wanted to see.
The house is excellently located (10 mins walk to the edge of Old Town). It is truly an artist's home, full of nice furniture and interesting pictures on the walls. Make sure you pack some thick socks though as the house is old and floors can get a bit cold.
Overall a great experience and would highly recommend this place.
Due to a mistake on my part (I booked the wrong dates!) I didn't end up staying with Marija. But, beyond my expectations she nonetheless organised for me to stay with her friend, for which I was very grateful! During my stay with her friend she invited me to her home for a delicious meal. It was a delightful evening and one I won't forget. Thankyou Marija for treating my like a friend from the beginning, and for being a warm, open, fun person.
Alexandra and Marija are the best hosts ever! You'll get exactly as much privacy and communication as you want. If you are in a mood for talking you'll have a nice talk, if you prefer to stay alone noone will bother you. We were lucky with other guests too.
As for the apartment itself - it's beautiful! Even better than on pictures! A bit of retro, nice mixture of old and new furniture, a lot of stylish details. I (together with my 4 yers old daughter) stayed on the upper floor. The only problem we had was the toilet. It's downstairs. Not very convenient at night. But that's really nothing comparing to all the advantages .
Also there's a nice kitchen, hot water, good wi-fi and NO TV :)
The location is superb. Near the bus stops, a walking distance to the bars and restaurants. Ask the hosts where to dine and they'll advise you sometheing depending on your tastes.
