Me and my two travelbuddies had a great time in Playa del Carmen, and that was partially because of Miguels appartment. It was very well located close to the Citys center and beach, the AC system worked great, while the appartment had a fully functioning kitchen. The appartment itself was very well equiped with tv, washing machine and a telephone. The wifi was also at high speed an with good connection.
We also made good use of the guestcard to the luxury all incl Reef Hotel which both had a pool and beach. If you go there remember to bring drinks if you dont choose to pay for all incl.
The contact in Playa is a sweet lady called Silvia. She only speaks spanish but luckily there is some instructions in english in the appartment. Miguel was also sweet to reply when we texted him with questions.

Overall a great experience. The condo is as shown in the pictures, but the place is a bit cheaply constructed (laundry door fell off its hinges, appliances don't work too great, very poor water pressure, A/C is a bit weak in the main room). There was a bunch of tiny ants around the bathroom, but that is to be expected here I suppose. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, there is a security guard at the end of the block.
We had a bit of a hard time finding the place (google maps inaccurately shows the condo on the next street over) and our contact, Silvia did not speak any English, but alas we found it and had a great vacation.
-You can hit Idioma on the remote and change tv shows to english!
-Theres an Oxxo convenience store nearby where you can buy some basics. There is also a big jug water cooler that you can exchange and have and a ton of drinking water for about $2 I think.
-About a 20 min HOT walk into town, and about the same to the reef resort. We did all inclusive 2 days at the reef, which was actually $54 US a day (NOT as posted on the description).
While it wasn't perfect, it was definitely worth it for the price! I would recommend it, it was a unique experience, but next time I'm in Playa I would maybe stay somewhere more in town or all-inclusive.
We stayed at Miguel's place for ten nights and this was really a great price and the space and location were good as well. But, it is missing some facilities that I think are an easy fix for the host to make this place even better. The location is great as it is close to central Playa del Carmen, but not too close, so it is still quiet at night and there is a convenience store (Oxxo) within walking distance where there is even a pizza place and laundromat.
Here's some things that Miguel can work on to improve the place:
I don't speak Spanish so it took a little work to figure out the appliances etc. and this could be easily fixed if there was a folder with instructions in English.
I rented a car and had some trouble finding the place but with my broken Spanish was able to figure it out. Silvia (the host's father I believe) is the main point of contact and he does not speak English at all, so don't expect to get too many directions from him and do your homework on Google maps before you come :) Also, you will be stopped at the external checkpoints who will constantly ask for a pass. Get used to saying that you are renting an don't have a pass at the checkpoint in Spanish. Or Miguel could provide a pass as well to those driving.
The water heater is manual and there is a big switch in the closet to turn it on, but the water gets too hot too quickly and there is no cold water to balance this out. So you end up taking a cold shower or a scalding one. I would think this would be an easy fix for the host and really this was one of the biggest reasons I didn't give this place a better rating. After a long day outside, an uncomfortable shower is the last thing you need.
The washer (laundry) also has a tap you need to turn on to let the water flow, unfortunately the water still keeps trickling after the final spin cycle. So leaving clothes in the laundry means you will return to soaking wet clothes and will need to figure out how to just run just the spin cycle. If there were instructions in a folder for this it would have been great.
The condo had utensils and silverware, but nothing else. No salt, sugar, coffee, oil, soap etc. I had to purchase everything myself and this is actually quite different from every other place I have stayed in like this that is usually fully stocked.
This place could be amazing if the host fixed the water issues alone and I hope he does so. I don't want to complain too much though, since it was a really good deal, especially since I was staying for a longer duration.

Miguel was very prompt with answering all my questions via email and text. The condo was great. It was very modern and wonderful to have 2 bedrooms. Host's father met us to check in (please note: he only spoke Spanish, so it's important for you to speak it). It's a very safe community with a gate guard who is there 24 hours always keeping an eye on the 12 condos on the street. There's A/C in the main living area and in one bedroom. The other bedroom has a ceiling fan which is fine (it actually was cool enough with just the ceiling fan at night). The shower pressure was very poor and never ever got warm. Cold showers all week was a con. The washer works but needed some instruction on operating it. We figured it out eventually. Overall nice place
