Interaction with Guests

I do have a fairly busy schedules, but we are always open to answering questions and giving suggestions about the area as requested. However, we do respect your privacy and space.
Someone will always be here to greet you, but we do need an approximate arrival time since we frequently have commitments outside of our home.
If you are a smoker please contact me before coming so that we can discuss what that means to all of us.

The Neighborhood

The views are amazing and the location is perfect for viewing the hot air balloon festival.
The street is paved so no mud, dust or dirt to deal with.
The area is also crime free.

Getting around

Public transportation is the Chilli Line. Information re: schedule may be found on line.

  • Shaddon provides a very nice room in a beautiful home.

  • Shaddon was a lovely host. The room and private bath are immaculate as is the kitchen area. The entire house is decorated with a wonderful mix of New Mexico/SouthWestern style and Asian flare! The house is just minutes away from the center of Taos making it conveniently located while still quiet and peaceful. She offers coffee and continental breakfast in the morning which is a very nice extra. If you're heading to Taos I highly recommend staying with her. It's a wonderful place at a reasonable price.

  • I spent two nights in Shaddon's lovely home. The room and bath were very clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfasts, delicious.

  • I stayed at Enchanting Mounting Views for five days. It was a great experience. The room and bath are in the far end of the house from the master bedroom, so the privacy was great. Everything was spotless;and the bed was comfortable. I brought my own breakfast supplies and Shaddon was very gracious to allow me to store my refrigerated items in her refrigerator. Shaddon was very welcoming, but she respected my privacy. I was participating in a workshop that took me out of herhome before 7 am and I arrived back after dark, so this type of accommodation was great. I highly recommend Enchanting Mountain Views.

  • Shaddon, Ronnie and Raffiki (sp?) are quiet and welcoming people and dog! Cannot imagine why anyone would object to Raffiki as he is a dear and loving dog. Yes, he's big. And???? You could not ask for better accommodations and breakfasts were delicious. The peace and quiet of the Taos area is enhanced by staying with this family and enjoying the cool mornings on the back patio..

  • We loved staying with Shaddon in her absolutely beautiful home! The backyard was a lovely place to sit in the morning with the continental breakfast Shaddon prepared for us. The views from her house are incredible, and the central location can't be beat. We also adored her very sweet ridgeback dog, Rafikki. The room was also really terrific -- you could tell that Shaddon puts a lot of time and thought into making sure her guests feel comfortable.

  • I had a very comfortable stay at Shaddons. The bed was comfortable and the room had plenty of drawer and closet space. The bathroom was well stocked with paper goods and bath items. She cooked a delicious fruit cobbler for breakfast! She is a very nice person and we had some interesting conversations. Shaddons place was a great choice for my visit to Taos.

  • Taos was cold and snowing when we arrived late April. Shaddon's home was beautiful, a warm and cosy place to stay with your own private bathroom and two twin beds which was great for two friends travelling together. She served us yummy breakfasts each morning, which we really appreciated. Her home is so close to everything, you could walk into town but we drove and parking was pretty good with free parking lots. There was so much to do that two days was not near enough.

  • The mountain views are spectacular. The house is not only comfortable but also peaceful. The two single beds are Danish antiques with carved swan heads and lyres--hardly cots! This is my first Airbnb stay, and I'm afraid I'm spoiled. I'm encouraging friends to stay there.

  • This is a clean room, small, with two thin cots and a view of the mountain rising above an array of backyard furniture. Use of the front door was discouraged in favor of a cluttered, dimly lit side entrance. The nightly drone of sports on the TV in the living room and frequent clatter from the kitchen was extremely annoying. There is a large breed dog on the premise that alternates between recognizing and forgetting the presence of a guest. There are several Taos classics on the nightstand, including two autobiographies of Mabel Dodge Lujan and a well-written narrative with pen-and-ink drawings of D.H. Lawrence's ranch and other famous landmarks. The property is located in a suburb off the main road near Walgreens.

    Response from Shaddon:

This is my first bad review and the purpose seems to be to do damage and I don't know why, but it does require a response. I will address each issue - TWO THIN COTS - the twin beds are antique,Scandinavian with hand-carved swans on the head-board and foot-board and the mattresses are Sealy orthozone. Never a complaint until Ms. Pilar. ARRAY OF YARD FURNITURE - There is a patio which is outside the guest bedroom with a table and 4 chairs for guests who enjoy eating outside in good weather. FRONT DOOR - It sometimes sticks so the back door is easier for guests. CLUTTERED ENTRANCE- there is a very small grill to the left of the back door. DIMLY LIT - Taos encourages night skies and we honor that by using down lighting on the 4 back lights. NIGHTLY DRONE TV - we have had several people test the guest room to see if the TV could be heard and it could not be heard. After Ms. Pilar's complaint we turned the TV off and went to our bedroom because there was no way to lower the volume beyond what it was and still hear the TV. KITCHEN NOISE - I made popcorn one night. LARGE DOG - When Ms. Pilar saw Rafiki she asked if he would bite her and then informed me that she did not like dogs. She must have missed that a dog was listed. Each time that Ms.Pilar left and returned she startled the three of us which includes the dog because she literally ran through the kitchen and in or out of the back door. Very strange; I could only think of the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland (I'm late, I'm late for a very important date.) SUBURBAN LOCATION - Taos is a small town, no suburbs. We are located about 5 blocks from Walgreens. I don't know what the significance of that is.
Ms.Pilar never spoke a word to us after her initial arrival, so I have no idea what caused such a vitriolic review. I also don't understand why if the experience was so unpleasant she did not leave after the first night. We believe in having only positive energy in our home and I thank all of the wonderful guests we have had for contributing to that.

About
I have lived in Taos for 8 years, but have been coming here for 30 years. I especially enjoy the diverse culture. Originally I am from Maine, but have lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Chicago, Kansas City, Boulder, Co., the Algarve in Portugal, Jackson Hole, Wy. and now Taos. In the past I have been a store owner, director of the Boulder Arts and Crafts Coop, an interior designer, and a general contractor. Now I have a sweet little studio where I paint and I volunteer in a program for foster children. I hike and snow shoe with my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Rafiki. This area offers incredible hiking. My favorite thing is to hike the deer trails because it is always a new adventure.
