This spot was by far the best airbnb experience of the many I have used over the past several years. The warmth and generosity of Francesco and Luisa made staying at Cimbollelo a home away from home more than just a place to stay. We loved the meal we shared with them and the conversation that flowed so easily. Francesco's furniture is exquisitely made. Luisa's cheese and grape juice is special . . . especially since we got to know the sheep (though failed at milking them) and could see the vines. Then there is the wine, the olive oil, the lavender oil. . .the care for the land, the way everything is taken care of so carefully. And, of course, the beauty of Umbria right outside the door. It was a very special time for us. Thank you, Francesco and thank you, Luisa. When we think of Umbria and Italy, you are what comes to mind first.
We stayed at Luisa and Francesco's place for two nights before New Year's eve before heading to Siena. What a wonderful family! And a very lovely village! We were made very welcome and felt like at home. Although it was very cold during these days in Italy and we also had some snow then the apartment was just like a small fairytale place where we could see the amazing landscape and sunsets while enjoying the warmth of the fireplace at the same time. Francesco and Luisa's farm is totally ecological, what we loved about it and they are doing a great job producing a lot of food themselves. Luisa also gave us very good suggestions where to go and what to see. I extremely suggest to visit the nearby village San Casciano dei Bagni old town and it's wonderful thermal bath "vasconi", where we enjoyed the hot waters although it was about -2 degrees celsius outside.
Luisa and Francesco are both very caring and warm persons and when I first saw the reviews on airbnb I was sure we would like to do the pasta course. That was the best choice of our trip! It was very interesting and the food was extremely delicious made with all natural products. We had a wonderful dinner with Luisa and Francesco at their lovely home and that was the real local and personal experience of our trip. We had a great discussion and I admire the hard work you are doing at the farm! Now we are back home with the pasta machine I bought from Italy and can't wait to start practicing :) Thank you both for everything! Staying at your farm was the warmest and best experience during our trip. A prefect place for relaxation and holiday. I am very glad that we could meet and would definitely come back during my next trip to Italy! Hopefully with a bit warmer weather than this time... :)
These kind of experiences make you really think about trying to learn Italian language to understand the local life and people even more better.
Warm greetings from cold Estonia!
We spent 4 nights at Francesco and Luisa's beautiful apartment but wish we had stayed longer! A perfect base to visit surrounding villages and wine country (high recommend hiring a car), we thoroughly enjoyed the location as well as the peace and serenity that went with it. Such kind hosts, thankyou ever so much for your hospitality and delightful place that felt like home.
We loved it. It was beautiful, peaceful and we can't wait to go back.
Francesco & Luisa welcomed us warmly to their idyllic farm in the picturesque hills of Umbria, overlooking Tuscany on the other side of the valley. The apartment was exactly like the pictures, cosy and authentic and spotlessly clean.
Our 4 night stay was fine without a car as the local town Citta della Pieve was walkable and we wanted to do nothing, though we would hire a car next time to get about and see more.
We enjoyed great wine and excellent food at nearby wine bar Saltapicchio, with wonderful sommelier Gigi. We also enjoyed learning to make pasta and sharing a meal with Francesco & Luisa in their farmhouse kitchen. It was lovely to get to know them over a bottle of farm fresh wine and sampling Luisa's home made pecorino.
We wished we had taken an extra bag to bring home more local produce.
What can I say about Francesco and Luisa that hasn't been said? Wonderfully communicative before arrival, incredibly helpful once you get there - especially when we arrived quite late in the day, and what kind and generous souls they are! Cimbolello is a stunning farm, full of sweet animals, beautiful sunsets, and gorgeous vistas. Francesco and Luisa will make you very comfortable and welcome, and the apartment itself is perfect. The kitchen is quite adequately stocked with anything you might need for basic cooking and Luisa can supplement with homemade items for purchase, such as jams, wines, olive oil, and meats. We were sorry we'd only arranged to stay with them for 2 days and can't wait to return as a larger family!
We had a most wonderful time with this wonderful family and their beautiful farm. They are very warm and welcoming and everything you can ask for in an Airbnb host. I just wished we spent more time with them and at their farm.
Our experience on the organic farm of Francesco and Luisa was an enduring highlight at the end of our trip to Italy! We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and this warmth and generosity continued throughout our stay. Our two bed hide-away was perfect to experience the peace and tranquility on the farm along with the sounds of the animals. Fortunately for us, we were able to assist in the fall grape harvest as well as pasta making and of course, sharing a fresh farm prepared meal. Our wondrous finale was a trip to the hot springs.
Cimbolello is located ideally close to surrounding historical and cultural villages and cities, and our favorite small village of Citta Della Pieve was just a short distance away and walkable. We found this charming village to hold the same warmth and generosity as on the farm.
We highly recommend this experience during your visit to Italy.

We are located at an altitude of 480 metres. Facing nearby Tuscany, the farm is composed of a vineyard, olive grove, field for several sheep, household pets, bees, and a nearby forest facing which is our house and agritourism apartments (completely self-sufficient) which we offer year round. The farm produces wine, oil, honey, cheeses, and many other products.
L’azienda produce vino, olio, miele, formaggi e tanti altri prodotti. L’importanza e l’orgoglio di allevare animali, di potare, concimare, raccogliere, trasformare i nostri prodotti sia vegetali che di origine animale ci danno una varietà continua di lavori, interessi, stimoli, scambi d’informazione e di intuizioni.
