Interaction with Guests
We are there if you need us mornings, evenings and sometimes during the day. I work 4 days, Wed. thru Sat. and my husband is semi-retired. we try our best to give you as much privacy as you like. We are on the opposite side of the house most of the time.
It is generally very quiet, friendly neighborhood of homes built in the 1950's. Week days you can hear the train a couple times in the morning, but it's not bad. No one has ever said it bothered them. The closest beach access is 2 miles from our house
It is best to have a car.You can get the city bus a short walk from our house. (I don't recomend this if you are a female traveling alone.) You would need to get a cab, rent a car or reserve a shuttle service to and from the airport. Please look at our GuideBook for recommendations.
Take the Seabreeze Bridge to get to the beach. When you get to A1A( the road that runs along the beach) you will need to drive a short distance north to get to a beach access road. You have to pay to drive on the beach in the Daytona area. If you drive south on A1A, there is Sun Splash Park about a mile down the road. You can park your car here for free and walk down to the beach.
The beach is open to vehicles from sunrise to sunset Nov. 1 through April 30, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 1 through Oct. 31. There is a $10 per day per vehicle user fee to drive on the beach from Feb. 1 through Nov. 30.
Annual beach passes are $25 for Volusia County residents and $100 for non-residents. If you don't want to pay to park on the beach, go to one of the parks off of A1A, some have bathrooms, showers and playgrounds, other just have parking. We have maps in our guidebook.
We are an hour and a half drive to Orlando Theme Parks. An hour and 10 minutes to Kennedy Space Center and an hour to St Augustine.
Other Things to Note
The water in the kitchen sink takes a minute to heat up.
We have a small above ground swimming pool. If you would like to cool off.

Shower height is 6 feet 8 inches.
Just ask- we have bikes, a beach umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards and fishing poles if you would like to borrow them.
Sometimes if to many appliances are on at the same time it flips a breaker. It is a simple fix it happens please let us know.
We recommend reading everything under our listing before your arrival. It is helpful.
Please no smoking or pets, owner is allergic. We tried having a dog one time but it just aggravated my asthma. Our cat stays outside.
We try to be flexible with check-in and check-out times, unless of course we have back to back guests. In which case, check-out is 11 a.m. and check-in is 2 p.m.
Our bedroom is where you park your car, so try your best to be quiet after 10 p.m. please.
If you use the bicycles please do not leave them un-attended without locking them up.
It is greatly appreciated if you don't use the white washclothes for make-up removal, it's difficult to get out the stains.
Please bring your own beach towels.
This cute little cottage was absolutely wonderful. It had everything I needed for my home-away-from-home vacation for the weekend. Fully stocked and immaculate! It looks in person exactly how it does in the photos; there were no disappointments here. Ruth was super-nice but there was still a lot of privacy. You can tell she takes pride in this space, and it's greatly appreciated.
Jim and Ruth's little studio was fantastic--the pictures don't do it justice! It was conveniently located: a mere 5 minute drive to the beach. I didn't get the chance to meet Ruth, but Jim was very kind and welcoming when we were there. I would love to stay there again when I'm back in Daytona Beach.
Just got back home from our stay and I already miss this place.
Very cozy, comfortable, and clean. Good privacy. My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. Ruth and Jim are very good people. The location is fantastic. They have everything you need ready for you when you arrive. There is almost nothing the host won't do to help you feel at home. I would definitely stay here again in the future.
We stayed here for a night. Ruth worked with us for our late arrival due to a flight. The location and neighborhood were very nice and the place was spotless and cozy! We only wish we could have spent more days here!
My boyfriend and I loved Ruth and Jim's cottage so much! The cottage was exactly as listed, very clean and well organized. It was also perfectly located closely to the beaches, many different restaurants, and grocery stores. We appreciated the book with all the information about Daytona provided to help make our trip much easier. We also appreciate having access to your grill, bikes, beach chairs, and umbrella. Ruth and Jim are wonderful hosts! We will most definitely being staying at their cottage if we ever find ourselves in Daytona again.

Holiday weekend AND Nascar race in town, yet we were in a quiet neighborhood close to everything we wanted to be near. Could not have been more perfect. The cottage is exactly how hit appears in the pictures, and has plenty of space for two people to comfortably relax. HIGHLY recommend the cottage, and look forward to returning! Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
Everything was comfortable and well prepared for us. We liked vey much to "jump" into the little pool and took the bikes to ride along the river. Ruth and Jim were perfect hosts. The surroundings are quiet, on the other hand it is very close to the beach.
About the Host, Ruth
I am a hairstylist going on 40 years now, I work parttime for myself in a small hair salon near home. I enjoy fishing with my semi-retired husband Jim in our little boat. Gardening is my therapy. Spending time with our 2 grown daughters and 3 grandchildren is the best.
