Interaction with Guests
When we rent out the whole house, we will see you when you are coming in, but probably miss you on the way out. If you have the house for a longer stay, we or a caretaker will stop by the house to deal with house chores a few times depending on length of stay.
We live on a quiet and safe residential block, in Fishtown one of the artsiest neighborhoods in Philadelphia, and with great nightlife and food options.
We are walking distance from many neighborhood hotspots: go dancing at the Barbary, drink beer out of a giant stein at Frankford Hall, have a terrific microbrew at Kraftwork, catch shows at Johnny Brenda's, go to an art opening at one of the many neighborhood galleries, or have an Italian feast at Modo Mio.
We are also very close to other great neighborhoods like Northern Liberties and Old City, both just south of us. Center City is just a short 10 min. subway ride away.
We are very close to center city, (11mins on the MFL to City Hall; 15 mins to the 30th st station.)
We are also near Old City and a lot of the historical destinations: 7mins to 2nd st stop and 5th st stop on the MFL.
You can use both the Girard or Berks. our house is equidistant.
Girard has the most activities around it (bars, 7 eleven etc).
There is also the trolley on Girard.
We are a few blocks from I-95, Delaware ave, Spring Garden st, and the Ben Franklin Bridge, and in general it is easy to access north south and east from here.
Other Things to Note
If you have severe cat allergies this is not the place for you.
The cat is not allowed in the 2nd floor bedrooms but the 3rd floor bedroom and bathrooms, are hers, so it is probably not the best if you are allergic to cats.
*No smoking in the house. (use the backyard)
*No shoes in the house. (ok on first floor, but really not anywhere else.)
*The cat is not allowed in the bedrooms. (But the rest of the house is fair game for snuggling)
*Feel free to look at/read our collection of books, but be nice to them and return them to their places, please.
*Please don't put glasses directly on wood surfaces in the house, use the coasters..
*Sebastien has a mild allergy to most perfumes, so please refrain from spraying excess amounts of perfume, or using large amounts of perfumed products.
Sari and Sebastien were wonderful hosts and the house was exactly as described. We had a large group (10!) and we all fit very comfortably. The house was clean and nice and the neighborhood excellent. We had a wonderful time and so appreciated their hospitality!
The hosts were fantastic! We had a wonderful time staying at this location despite the weather.
I rented this house for 10 (though we ended up having 8) for new years eve and we had a great time here. Sari and Sebastian were super friendly. I was a bit concerned about parking but there is ample parking on the street about a block away and our multiple guests were able to park their cars fine. Fishtown is a nice area with lots of new bars and restaurants in the area and is just a short taxi ride from downtown. There were binders in all the bedrooms with house rules and advice about the area, wifi password, etc. They had a stereo with a plug for guests to plug in their own ipod which we used.
I have a very slight cat allergy but their house was clean enough that I didn't even notice. Just understand that the cat will be staying in the house and let all your guests know as we had one couple with more severe allergies that didn't read that part and ended up needing to stay elsewhere, but that oversight was on us.
Beds were comfy and bathrooms roomy and clean. Overall a great stay and if our out of town friends had stayed longer we would have loved to have spent multiple days in the house!
Sari and Sebastien were friendly and easy to coordinate with, and even let my friends and I host a baby shower in their home. The space was comfortable for a large group to stay. The location is great, plenty of good restaurants and bars in walking distance.
We stayed at Sari and Sebastien's home to celebrate the upcoming wedding of our friend. Leading up to the rental date, Sari and Sebastien quickly answered a few questions that I had. As we arrived, Sebastien told us where to park and greeted us at the door. He took us for a tour and went over a few instructions. They had binders set up in every room, which was helpful. Their home was beautifully decorated, clean, and well maintained. The bedrooms were all spacious and the home had more than enough accommodations for 8 of us. It was great to have the back patio area to relax on. The home is close to many of Fishtown's bars and restaurants and it was easy for us to catch cabs into Center City. Overall it was a great experience.
We (my parents, sister, and nephew) stayed at Sari's and Sebastien's place for 5 days in August while visiting Philadelphia. We rented the whole house, which easily accommodated the 5 of us.
The place is as shown in the pictures. Unfortunately we found the place to be really dirty and spent a couple of hours the first evening cleaning kitchen and bedrooms.
The neighborhood, Fishtown, offers a lot of new, hip bars, restaurants and coffee places, alongside rundown houses and old shops and stores. It is in transition, something I like, but other travelers might want to check out first before staying there. It feels definitely safe though.
We have never had any complaints about the cleanliness of the house before, to the contrary we consistently receive positive reviews about this.
We did not do anything differently in the cleaning of the house on this occasion, so we are a bit baffled by this review.
We tried to contact Nils a number of times to checkin and see if there were any issues with their stay, and we never received a response.
An airbnb house is someone's home and is never going to be hospital grade sanitized/spotless. We are not only seasoned hosts, but frequent guests, and we would never expect this of anyone.
I would suggest to any guest who knows they have very particular and extreme standards of cleanliness, to stay in a hotel where there is a daily professional cleaning staff that can better meet their needs.
Sari and Sebastian were both very kind. Sebastian was very quick to answering my questions beforehand, day of, and during our stay. All of the beds were very comfortable and there was more than enough room in the house for myself and seven friends. The house was beautiful and clean. The location was great near many local restaurants and bars. Their cat was also very friendly and well behaved. We could not park on the street where their house was but it was easy to find a spot around the corner (very typical for Philly neighborhoods). I would definitely recommended others to stay here.

About the Host, Sari And Sebastien
Sari and Sébastien are a couple of New York expats living in Philadelphia. We have a nice and cozy home that we love sharing with guests. Sebastien has lived all over the world and can speak to you in French, or possibly poor Spanish. Sari is just from New Jersey and can speak highly competent English to you. We are both artists and creatives. Between the two of us we design, illustrate, teach, and make art.
Honorable mention goes to our rotund but friendly kitty, Ku.
