I offer a thoughtfully furnished bedroom in a clean, friendly, well-equipped apartment where you will feel at home and have the experience of living like a real New Yorker. I am a reliable, experienced host and will ensure your trip is great.
My description below should answer all of your questions about me, the apartment and neighbourhood. If I have left anything out, please ask!
★ THE APARTMENT ★
The apartment is sunny and large with an open space for living. The apartment features three bedrooms a fully equipped kitchen and a living room. It is located on the 4th floor of a turn of the century walkup building.
The apartment is nearly identical to the photos, with some upgrades and additions to the furniture (it's actually better decorated and organized for utility than in the photos). I maintain a minimalistic lifestyle so the apartment is uncluttered and kept clean.
I live in one bedroom in the apartment, and each of the two rooms are available for rent. This bedroom can accommodate 2 people, for larger groups, the other bedroom can be rented. There is also a sofa couch in the living room that I occasionally allow groups to also rent, it's perfect for odd number groups of 3 or 5 people.
This bedroom has high-value and is inexpensive, meaning you are getting a great compromise between price and quality - especially in Manhattan. It is perfect for either vacations or business trips.
★ THE NEIGHBORHOOD ★
Located in Manhattan in an area known as Manhattanville just north of Morningside Heights and southwest of Harlem with a variety of cafes, restaurants and grocers located within walking distance. The neighborhood is safe, friendly and lively. The apartment is centrally located between 2 subway lines which makes getting nearly anywhere in Manhattan easy.
• 2 minute walk 1,2,3 Train line
• 4 min. walk to express trains
• 2 stops, or walk to Central Park!
• walk to Riverside Park, Riverside Cathedral
• walk to Columbia University, St. John's Cathedral
• 3 stops (15 min) to Times Square
• 10-25 min ride nearly everywhere in Manhattan

Only two last things (thanks for reading this far!)
• If you're booking for more than 2 people, it is important to contact me before you book to ensure the second bedroom or space in the living room is available
• Also, if it isn't clear, I will be home during your stay. This is a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom), but a fun, clean, inexpensive one nonetheless.
Rules Yes, I have to have a couple ;-)
Please remove your shoes at the front door, wearing shoes in the apartment brings in dirt from the street and the cleaning lady sweeps and mops the floors weekly.
I cannot allow smoking in the apartment as a curtsey to all of the non-smoking guests who stay with me. Please respect this.
Please help yourself to coffee and any condiments I have; but please do not help yourself to my food.
Please do not leave an (1) air conditioner (2) space heater (3) electric blanket left on while you are not in the apartment. These are things that consume a lot of electricity.
Ken is a really nice guy, the place is clean and cozy, the neighborhood is relatively quiet and safe (I mean, it's more quiet than anywhere between Canal street and the 50th, but still it's Manhattan, if you want a real quietness you shouldn't be in New York City ;) ), and Downtown is just a few subway stations away.
Given the very cheap price, I would surely come back!
P.s.: Harlem has got safer from the '80s and '90s, don't let its name frighten you!
Ken was a great host and the room was lovely.
The room was exactly as described and extremely comfortable.
The apartment is in a great location and a short walk to the metro.
I would highly recommend staying there.
Ken was very nice and we spent a great time at his apartment. the room was clean and we had everything we needed. the location of the apartment is perfect, even though it is harlem and seems to be quite far away from times square and all the other sightseeing-spots, you can get there within 20 min by metro- absolutely recommendable
Ken was a great host, my and bf stayed at his place and it was exactly what we need, a place to rest after long days of walk in the city.
Free parking with free internet is hard to find in any hotel here at this price range. Room is clean and comfortable, Ken is very easy to talk with, and the location is safe and convenient. Recommended
Ken is really a friendly and polite host. Ken shares two small, but very nice rooms in his flat. We had no complaints during our stay. Within close reach both of the 125th stations (express A train!), it shouldnt be a problem to get fast everywhere you want. Price/value is fantastic! Don't be frightened of Morningside Heights or Harlem at nights, it has some kind of flair.
Ken is a super nice host! His place is tiny but make u feel so comfortable. Highly recommend his place and I will choose His place once I travel NY again:)
Thanks Heather, great having you!
Translated Mandarin part of Heathers review: "People super super nice! Although the room was a bit small but very clean and the beds were soft, and the house is very close from the subway station, the price is very reasonable. Strongly recommend you stay :)"
