Interaction with Guests
First and foremost that would depend on you. If you would like to chat or have any questions or needs let me know. If I am here I will come and introduce myself to you. I have lived in Bend since 1990
Our home sits on a quiet, no thru traffic street. We are just above the river trail. The river trail wraps around the west-side of Bend, and is loved by people who like to walk/bike/jog/ski/ swim (burr it's cold). If you are sitting on the deck outside at night you could hear the sounds of the roaring river from the First Street Rapids.
You can walk or bike from here. We do have a transit system (BAT). If your intention is to get to the out lying areas I'd suggest having a vehicle
Other Things to Note

We enjoyed our stay over the Christmas Holiday. The location was great and the apartment was clean and comfortable, just what we needed. Thank you Gilead.
This is a quiet little mother-in-law just outside of downtown Bend. Would definitely stay here again, except for the warning below. It was pretty cold so we drove, 3 mins to Bond St, can't comment on the walk time. The location is on a quiet cal-de-sac, absolutely no traffic noise. Gilead was very nice in our brief encounters, offering late check out, but we didn't talk too much.
WARNING*** If you don't like memory foam not the place for you. The mattress and pillow were dense memory foam. Had never slept on this mattress before and will not be purchasing one anytime soon. To each their own.
Absolutely nothing against the apt though.
The apt was flawlessly clean, smelled amazing and the sheets and towels were perfect. She also stocks the mini-fridge with yogurt, water, some fruit and chocolates, very nice touch. There was laundry in the apt, which would be great if staying for longer and playing outside a bit more than we did.
Per WARNING: This was an Easy Fix, the memory foam was not a mattress but a topper. If you had mentioned something to me I would have taken the topper off and remade the bed, no problem, it's your comfort I'm interested in.
I bought the topper in the spring of 2014 and have gotten rave reviews, even unsolicited ones when my guests on numerous occasions told me it was their best night sleep they had in a long time. I bought a topper because other friends that are on Airbnb said people liked them.
It is difficult to please everyone when it comes to bed comfort. I try very hard to make my guests as comfortable as possible.
When we showed up there was a bottle of sparkling apple cider on the table and the heat was on. This was GREAT as it was around 29 degrees outside. The space was clean and the furniture was super comfortable. I suppose the only draw back was that the "wi-fi" was so weak that my device only got one bar that was super slow/didn't work, and my wife's device couldn't even find the network. Not a huge deal, but don't expect any netflix or online gaming :) Also, remember you are renting the downstairs of a house, we definitely heard our upstairs neighbors walking around. All in all i would say this place is worth another visit. Clean, cozy, close to a beautiful river side walk and close to downtown... nothing we did was more than 5 min away in the car.
My husband and I had great time staying in this home. Clean. Cozy. Great location. Gilead was very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here!
We had a great time staying at Gilead's apartment! It was perfect for my boyfriend and I, and our dog. Loved being near the river, and so close to downtown and great restaurants. We had everything we needed, and appreciated the coffee, treats in the mini fridge, and being able to lock up our bikes in your shed - thank you, Gilead! And, the washer and dryer was a plus!
We had a great weekend in Bend and this was the perfect place for my husband and I. Everything was very clean and anything you could possibly need was there. The bed was super comfy. The walk to town was beautiful along the river and not very long. Thanks for a great stay!
Wow what a great location! Our hostess was wonderful and provided a wealth of information regarding Bend and the surrounding area. She is a Realtor and a very active person in the community and provided us with very beneficial information regarding real estate in the area. We couldn't help but fall in love with the Bend! Communication was very easy and the keyless entry made it helpful to move in without a firm scheduled arrival time. The apartment is very cozy, the bed extremely comfortable and the location incredible. Less than one half block from our door was a path to the Deschutes River and it was a short walk to town. There seemed to be a million restaurants and each one was delicious. A highlight was an invitation to Gilead's ukelele night. We joined in and sang, played and enjoyed the company of about 50 friendly folks! The breweries were incredible and we were never at a loss for something to do.
Hello. I moved here the summer of 1990. After being a Nutritionist in Washington D.C. I became a real estate broker in Bend. I then authored 2 books; "Bend Has It All" and "Inside Bend." This became my jump start in finding out what Bend had to offer. I quickly learned how wonderful the people in Bend were. Bend is a melting pot for people from all over this county and beyond. Therefore people reach out to others in making friends.
When we rise in the morning we look out the window to decide which activity we'll do. Often one could go from skiing in the morning to mountain biking in the afternoon.
