This unique House was built in 1977. Inspired by Arcosanti and the vision of Paolo Soleri. It is carved into the earth and built of natural materials and objects found in the area. There is a walkway that leads to the home, a kiva, and patio for outdoor living. Guests must use good judgement and situational awareness at all times due to the uneven surfaces and the rock ledges. Inside the House are many small doorways with low overhangs that you must step over to access the rooms.

The space
This place is probably not for you...   If you are looking for a true hotel experience - keep looking, if the thought of climbing through small doorways inside the home sounds like a challenge - or if you are opposed to living close to nature look elsewhere.   If life on the edge of the mountain with an uneven landscape gives you vertigo stay home.   However if you are looking for a truly unique experience and a chance to stay in a home designed by a brilliant architect ( Paul Nonnast) sounds like a dream come true  - then this is your place and it is for You that I have gone through the effort to make this available to host new friends who share my sense of wanderlust.

The house is undergoing renovations to further improve your experience.  The shower is the original and  is currently located in the living room area. To access the restroom you have to leave the main living areas of the house.  The home is not built ADA compliant, pet, or kid friendly. I have one very sweet dog that will be fenced off from the studio area, unless of course you want to meet her.

Guest access
The House on the edge of time is located next door to my home and you will have access to the entire house during your stay. There is parking for only 1 vehicle that will be designated off the road in front of the home. Only registered guests allowed on property at any time. This home is a great choice for people looking for peace and quiet away from the town.

Other things to note
The home is down a long unpaved road. No smoking anywhere on the Property. The restaurants in Jerome close early for dinner ( usually 8pm) so if you will arrive late plan to eat before you get to Jerome. Most shops and galleries in Jerome close at 5pm - there is usually live music on Saturdays at the Spirit Room - Paul and Jerry's Bar is cash only and there is an ATM inside - I have 2 inflatable kayaks available to rent for $15 each per day. IIf you have further interest in the area I am a licensed real estate agent in Arizona, and I am happy to assist you with any additional needs you may have in the future.

Seasonal Expectations for Guests

Spring
Weather : there is still a potential for snow in the early spring. Days 60’s - 70’s nights will still get down in the low 30s there is a gas heater in the living room - electric heaters in the others, and a wood stove in the bedroom.
Pine needles - There is a giant pine tree above the studio it’s messy in the spring but provides amazing shade in the summer!

Summer
Weather: Days can be very warm and nights can still get chilly here. Plan and dress accordingly.
There is a swamp cooler in the studio bedroom, it usually does a great job of keeping things cool if the humidity is not too bad. There are also fans to be used. You are kind of camping afterall.
Summer is peak time for snakes and other desert creatures. Be alert and use common sense.

Fall
Weather: early fall is still very warm here late fall can be chilly I have seen snow in early November. Watch for icy spots in the shade.
There is a gas heater in the living room, electric heaters in all of the rooms and, wood burning stove in the bedroom.

Winter
The studio will be closed for most of the winter due to the issues with keeping it warm enough to be comfortable. Please come stay and play the rest of the year.
