This apt was a nice retreat. We loved coming back up the hill after our long days to a quiet lovely apt. Tips and suggestions: bring dry goods and snacks from the US to make meals in the apt. I completely recommend this because food is very expensive on the island. We brought coffee, dry pasta, rice, etc. This kitchen is well equipped to make full meals. We saved SO much $. At the Massy (Barbados grocery store) we bought eggs, milk, butter, etc. If you buy something at Massy, a free shuttle (till 7pm) will drive you back up to the apt. to drop off groceries. So convenient! Transport to and from the apt: The ZR's are the way to get around the island. However, in this part of the area, the ZR #8 ends earlier, around 8pm. A taxi between the apt and the Lawrence Gap/down the hill area will range from 15-20BDS (7.50-10 USD). If you try to catch a taxi from the apt, head out towards Rendezvous RD, and one should come. The ZR #8 will cost 2BDS/1USD and just a 3 min. walk from the apt. We loved this. The ZR drops you off by Browne’s beach and continues to Fairchild Bus Terminal where one can catch a public bus or any ZRs to most parts of the island. This was great for 1USD/2BDS! We went all over the island on these buses. Remember to start the day earlier for these buses may take time. The Transport Board Barbados online site has all the info on public buses and routes. Also, at Browne’s Beach, one can connect to the popular ZR #11 which runs from Oistins to Fairchild bus terminal. Remember though, the ZR 8 starts at Fairchild Bus Terminal, but does not take the same route back to the apt completely. For example: If you spend a day at the beautiful Browne’s beach, one will catch the ZR #8 at the Beckles RD/ Culloden RD behind the ESSO back to the apt (super easy). You can ask anyone around the ESSO for the bus stop. Also it is best before exploring, to look at a map of the island to see where one is going. Also we found towards the end, when we were at many of the beaches, taking the ZR to the Fairchild Bus Terminal to connect to the #8 was easy too. Because it gave an opportunity to shop, go to the bank, and get a seat on the ZR #8 back to the apt. This apt offers you everything: umbrellas, towels, and hammock. The grounds are pleasing. We loved it here. It felt like a true vacation. Annie and her mother were amazing hosts and very thoughtful. I hope my tips helped a bit, and taking day trips to the other parts of the island was just beautiful and special. Same can be said about this lovely studio apt. Oh, and we love Ginger (the best dog in the world).

Annie whom I only had a chance to email was very quick to respond. Her mother was here to let me in and made sure I had everything. She helped with bus and transport information. There sweet little dog Ginger always checked on me too.

We were grateful for our time at Annie's home. The place was clean and safe and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped to allow us to save some vaca bucks by cooking on the regular. The garden was truly a wonderful addition...even hearing the sound of wind chimes in the breeze just made this a restful place for my husband and I to spend the second part of our honeymoon resting and relaxing in. The addition of a hammock to the front stoop the week before we left still brings a smile to my face. Her mother was kind and accommodating. They truly worked with us in any of our needs and made the place comfortable for our time. The bonus was Ginger, the kind dog that kept us smiling, feeling welcomed and, of course, safe. The beach and grocery store were all in walking distance. The ZR bus system runs just up the street ($2BBD to go into town or anywhere else for that matter). We'd highly recommend that if you are trying to find a place in Barbados to relax, consider staying with them.

We were welcomed by the hosts mother who was extremely accommodating. We felt like they really cared how well our stay went. They gave us information related to transportation and local happenings. The home is located right up the hill from everything! A hop skip and jump to get to anything you want on the island. We really appreciate staying here!

Annie and Erla are excellent hosts. We had a minor hiccup during our stay that was out of anyone's control, and they were fast to resolve the issue. The space is very comfortable, and has a spacious fully equipped kitchen, along with a coffee machine, blender, and juicer. There's a farmers market in Hasting just a few KM away every Wednesday and Saturday, so you've got local produce available for fresh juice every day to help you beat the heat. Note that there is an outdoor table and chairs if you want to sit down to eat, otherwise you'll be sitting at the bar inside on tall stools. There's also a hammock outside that is wonderful to catch an afternoon nap in while the breeze gently rocks you back and forth. The internet has great coverage throughout the place, and is very fast. The property has a dog, named Ginger, and she's sweet, and friendly. If you plan on renting a car and parking it at the property, it's best to reverse into the driveway, as the road can be somewhat busy at times, and it's near a bend in the road, so it's best that you can see that it's clear to enter and exit.
