The Space

Set on 70 acres in the beautiful tourist town of Boolarra, South Gippsland. Surrounded by tourist walks, rivers and native bush. 2 hours by train or car from Melbourne. Transfers available from train station.

The farm hosts dairy goats, cows and horses as well as a large spotty pet pig.

Visit the annual Boolarra folk festival, held on the last weekend of February, this is a very popular music event, with bands and musicians performing from all over Australia.

The surrounding area is home to many species of wildlife including kangaroos, koalas, wombats and kookaburras.

Visit local country hotels, gorgeous little cafes and art galleries and the famous Mirboo North chocolate shop "Dalliance".

Includes wifi, use of the kitchen, laundry, billiard room, lounge room and outdoor verandah/eating area.

Local attractions that you might like to visit:

Wilson's Promontory

When visiting Wilson's Promontory you can go via the gorgeous little towns of Meeniyan and Fish Creek, which have some really nice little cafes, shops and art galleries, particularly the celia rosser (who is a very famous Australian botanical artist) gallery which includes a great cafe.

If you want spectacular views of Wilson's Promotory while you sip wine and taste local olives and bread from the verandah of a Tuscan style Villa, you can't go past Basia Mille.

The Koonwarra Store and Cafe is just outside Leongatha where for $8 per person you can taste many of the local wines. They also have local cheeses and a beautiful selection of Gippsland produce. You can sit in their gardens or in the old fashioned store for a gourmet lunch.

Ten minutes drive away is Mirboo North, home to the Chocolate shop which besides selling amazing chocolates, also sells the best coffee and serves a delcious breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea with local wine.
Grand Ridge Brewery is also situated in Mirboo North, where you can order lunch or dinner to go with one of their award winning boutique beers.

30 minutes drive away are the Morwell River waterfalls, where many of the locals like to swim in the summer.

Returning from Wilson's Promotory to Boolarra you may like to drive through Mount Fatigue which has beautiful mountains, trees and scenery.

Tarra Bulga rainforest national park is about an hour and is just exquisite

Mount Worth State Park, also about an hour

We also really love the Bunurong Marine Coastal Drive (one hour away) at Inverloch for site seeing, swimming or snorkelling.

Our home is adjacent to the Mirboo North - Boolarra rail trail, which is great for walking or bike riding

We also offer 2 hour horse (website hidden) riding gives you the very best view of the scenery and wildlife. It's not uncommon to be riding along side bounding kangaroos and wallabies, we regularly see wedge tailed eagles and small echidnas. We can also ride to nearby hills for the most spectacular views of the surrounding area. If you would like to book a ride just let us know when you make your booking. Rides are $50 per person for 2 hours.

Other fabulous tourist places that you might like to visit in the area are:
Phillip Island

We love to chat and meet new people so you are welcome to feel part of the family, or if you prefer privacy and time alone that is okay with us too.

See you soon!

  • Surrounded by peace and quiet, this would be the best place to get some rest away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Jen's house a work of art in itself with wonderful wood and brick architecture that offers the feel of a cosy and quaint cottage but combined with modern amenities. There's a trampoline outside where we took the opportunity to lie on and watch stars and the milky way and start counting the number of shooting stars. It was awesome. They also have goats, cows, a dog and a cat. Sebastian the goat is especially friendly and loves snuggling up to people (in the form of rubbing its head on your leg though I was confused at first as to whether it was just trying to scratch its head on my leg). I think we were incredibly lucky to find a one-night home here and have hosts like Jen and her husband who took very good care of us during our stay. We would definitely be back when we can!

  • We had a very nice one night stay at Jen's lovely farm house on our way to Wilson's Prom. The house is big and beautifully located with a magnificent view and the guest room and bath were both really nice, clean and comfortable. We could use the kitchen and also the other areas of the house like the Billard room and really felt welcomed. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come by another time!

  • A lovely house full of lovely people! Incredibly considerate and understanding when my travel plans went somewhat awry, and when I did finally make it safely I had a warm, comfortable room waiting for me.
I was travelling for a course in Gippsland so I was occupied during the day, but I enjoyed my morning walks with Jack the dog and my chats with Jen & Jos. Much nicer than staying in a cold impersonal hotel room! Highly recommended, a comfortable, clean, and friendly place to stay with knowledgeable and welcoming hosts.

  • Jen and her husband Joos were fabulous hosts and their property and home are wonderful. My fiance and I really enjoyed are stay. The family was gracious, friendly, and genuine. We have many good conversations with them and it was so nice to get out of the city! There are several great places to visit within an hour or two of their home and I wish we had a longer stay so that we could have explored them all. It is a beautiful area and I want to go back in the spring when all of the hills are green.
A couple of things to consider; if you are rather tall (like my fiance) you will not fit in the bed length wise. Also, don't sleep with the window open if you are prone to mosquito bites. One more piece of advice; If you are a light sleeper bring some ear plugs because the stairs and doors to all other bedrooms can inhibit sleep.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It truly was an authentic experience and I loved the animals at the house.

    Response from Jen:

Sorry about the bed Tim, we're not used to having someone just under 7 foot stay with us and can see how a standard bed would be a tight fit for you, I hope it didn't hamper your sleep too much. It was great meeting you both and thanks for the feedback, the house is usually pretty quiet, but for the nights when we have additional guests staying I'll make sure there's ear plugs available for the light sleepers. Take care and I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Melbourne.

  • Jen and her Husband were very friendly and helpful. They gave us many tips for our trip. The house was really a dream and the room lovely. We had a great stay and the wilderness was amazing. If you want to see wildlife, is this the right place to be. In the proximity you can see wombats, kangaroos, birds and many other animals. The Wilsons Promontory National Park is also not far away. Too bad we only had two nights. We could have stayed longer, but had not the time.

  • Jen is beyond gracious with her knowledge of Wilsons Prom and the surrounding areas. She genuinely loves hosting people and is keen to give them input on any questions they may have. We actually took her advice on one of her suggestions during one of the days we spent there.

The accommodation itself is very pretty and in great shape. Jen will tell you where to shop for fresh food, lovely pastries and good coffee. Just ask.

  • Jen and Joos have an absolutely beautiful home. As this was our first airbnb experience so far, they set the bar extremely high. We loved getting to know the both of them. Everything was absolutely wonderful... We only wish we could've stayed longer!
