Interaction with Guests
We love to interact with our Guests but we also like to think that we understand when Guests need their privacy. We live on the premises so are on hand for any questions/enquiries.
We have the ideal base from which to explore the Ring of Kerry and experience the true magnificence and unspoilt scenery that this area has in abundance. We arrange boat trips to Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Our 100 acre farm has Livestock and Horses plus the family pet, our dog Archie - We are fortunate to have the ruins of the Old Union Workhouse on our farm at Bahaghs (phone number hidden)) – detailed history available for guests to peruse.
Our area of southwest Kerry has been designated as a dark skies reserve, the first place in the Northern Hemisphere to receive such a designation.
The International Dark-Skies Association found that the skies of the Iveragh Peninsula, an area measuring 700sq km, should be designated a dark-skies reserve.
The area is now Gold Tier Dark Sky Reserve. Only two other places in the world, in Namibia and New Zealand, have received such a designation for their pristine skies.
The accolade makes the area attractive to tourists who want to see the night sky without it being affected by light pollution.
This can be enjoyed from your bedroom !
You will best enjoy our area if you have your own transport as our public transport is just 2 services per day - the bus does actually pass our door and do a pick and drop !

When we arrived, Kathleen's daughter welcomed us in as Kathleen was out - we were running a bit late! The location is beautiful, and a highlight was the gorgeous horses that come up for feeding. And the backdrop from the back garden is beautiful. Very serene.
The room is very simple but has an ensuite. And an amazing view out across the estuary. The place is well located for getting into Cahersiveen, but you really need a car to get anywhere. There's parking at The Final Furlong - but the hosts drove us into town on our first night so we could enjoy Cahersiveen to the full... And he gave us a taxi number, which was about €6 one-way (after midnight). All in all, handy enough.
It's a beautiful part of the world and Kathleen gave us some great recommendations - she has all the tourist maps you could hope for. And local knowledge to boot! A lovely experience.
We were very comfortable at the Final Furlong. Kathleen was very hospitable and she made us a lovely breakfast. Our room had a nice view over the river and of the horses in their paddock, who were nice and friendly. We stayed here because of it's closeness to Skellig Michael which we were able to experience, something I would definitely recommend, the island is magical.
Kathleen greeted us with great hospitality as it seems her Farmhouse is a B&B business that she's been running for a while. The house is beautiful and the room came with an amazing view. There are horses on the premises and we could not help ourselves but to pet them and feed them carrots (Kathleen gave us permission), and the room is so clean and comfortable that I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Cahersiveen. Most B&B in Ireland doesn't usually provide Irish breakfasts, but Kathleen offered and it was the most delicious Irish breakfast we had on this trip. I would come back here again.
Kathleen provided a very lovely b+b in a scenic, peaceful spot on the Ring of Kerry. Highly recommended!
Ein wunderschöner Ort! Kathleen ist eine herzliche Gastgeberin, unfassbar schöner Ausblick, kleines sauberes Zimmer und leckeres Frühstück! Absolut empfehlenswert!
We had a nice travel in Kathleen's B&B. Cahersiveen is just perfect to visit the Rong of Kerry and Valentina Island.
The room with the sea view is really nice. Kathllen is very kind. Good breakfast to start the day...
