Planning to visit the best city in Europe?! I would love to welcome you in my cosy, clean and comfortable apartment, where I have a private room to offer. The apartment has all amenities needed for a great stay, located just a 10-15-minute bike ride from Amsterdam's beautiful, canal-filled city center!
The apartment & room:
The apartment is up one flight of stairs. It is 55 m2, with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. It has a light, homy and relaxed feel. The apartment and balcony (great for sun-filled breakfasts in the spring/summer!) were renovated in 2008 and are in good shape. The bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom are quite small, typical of Amsterdam. I will provide clean sheets and towels, and guests are welcome to use the washing machine and WiFi. You will have a small single bedroom to yourself, but are welcome to use the rest of the apartment, for example to make and store food in the kitchen.
You will share the living room, bathroom and kitchen with me. I am a Dutch national, I work fulltime and have a busy social life; I am easy-going, openminded, and used to living with other people. I have my own busy life here in Amsterdam, but you can always text, email or knock on my door with any questions. Mainly, just be comfortable, do your thing, and have a great time!
I am more comfortable renting to women, but exeptions can be made for a good story and a trustworthy profile. I will always try and meet you for a personal check-in. Check-out is usually around 11 am. I do not offer breakfast, though you are welcome to make your own free cup of tea/coffee.
The nearest tram to the city center (Tram 14) is 1 min. walking from my house. The apartment is also close to Amsterdam Muiderpoort train station (5 min. to Amsterdam Central Station), as well as various buses/trams (bus(phone number hidden), tram7, 3, 14, 10). From the airport it's easiest to take a train to Amsterdam Central Station (10 min.) and then hop on the 22 bus to the "Indische Buurt." Closest stop is "Javaplein" (15-20 min. from Amsterdam Central train station) - total trip about 40 min.
My neighborhood is an ideal base for exploring Amsterdam. The room and apartment are more affordable because it's not located in the city center, but it's close enough to have easy access to everything Amsterdam has to offer. The apartment is close to two city parks, the beautiful country side just outside of Amsterdam, the amazing Museum of the Tropics (my favorite museum, besides the Photography museum!) and the famous Artis zoo, and of course the tourist hot-spot: the city center of Amsterdam (a 10-15 minute bike or tram ride). My apartment is close to various smaller and larger supermarkets (reg. & organic), cafes, restaurants, shops and a farmer's market. The "Indische Buurt" is a culturally diverse and up and coming neighborhood in Amsterdam. It is resedential and very safe, but lively at the same time.
Other useful information:
The bedrooms are on the street side and sometimes this means some street noise, but the neighborhood is residential and relatively quiet. In the mornings the balcony is sun-filled and a wonderful place to have breakfast (when the weather allows). Paid parking is available on my street, though I recommend anyone coming to Amsterdam to make use of the wonderful public transportation system or bikes!
Pieternel was a good host. She made me feel welcome and at home, her flat is small but very nice and clean and you can reach the city center easily. She is a really nice, open-minded person and always up for a chat. I would definitely recommend her as a host.
Pieternel was a wonderful and friendly host.
The flat was tidy, cosy and I felt at home.
Pieternel is an absolutely lovely and friendly host. She does everything possible to make you feel at home. The bed is comfortable and her place is located in a beautiful neighborhood just a little bit out of the Centrum (downtown). I highly recommend this place for its value, size and experience. Extremely convenient to a tram line that goes through some of the major attractions of the city and a bus that brings you straight to the central train station.
The room is quite small but it's perfect for a short-term stay.
It's very well connected to city centre, central station and airport.
HIghly recommended if you're looking for a budget place.
A really lovely place to stay! I would recommend it to anyone. Cosy, quiet and about 20 bus-minutes from the Centraal Station. I couldn't find a nicer place to stay.
Unfortunately, I didn't meet Pieternel herself because she was on holidays, too, but from our conversation via email I can tell that she's a warm and friendly person.
Great stay. Slept wonderfully. Everything was as advertised and very clean. Pieternel is really friendly.
It was my first solo Europe trip and it was also my first time to find accommodation through Airbnb.
Pieternel and her boyfriend are very nice. They are willing to help. The apartment is comfortable although it is not big.
good place to stay. be careful - it's easy to fall in love to Pieternel... %)
Great location, great room, great host. Definitely recommended!
This was my first time using airbnb and it was really great! The place was nice and cosy, you won't find better value anywhere else. Perfect for someone travelling alone. Pieternel was warm and friendly, with an attention for details. The fresh tulips in the room was really nice.
