About this listing
Welcome to my home which is located on 2.5 acres within 81 miles of the North rim of the Grand Canyon (open from mid May to November), 77 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park, 32 miles from Zion National Park and 65 miles Lake Powell as well as day trips to many other natural wonders. This is a sight seers paradise that is an easy drive from Las Vegas Nevada where rental cars can be gotten at the airport on arrival.
My home is spacious and as complete as you would find your own with a guest bath and master bath, two queen beds, full kitchen and laundry, A/C, pool table, stereo and satellite TV. Linens, towels and paper products are supplied.
Kanab city is a quiet tourist town where you can still see the occasional rancher or cowboy walking along the street. Often known as little Hollywood it was the site of the filming of many old western movies and now hosts an event every August called Western Legends where you can meet such old move stars as Clint Walker. It has pleasant restaurants, coffee shops and a hospital if the need were to arise.
As I have an intimate knowledge of the back country I can supply you with directions and ideas to sights off the beaten track, or possibly take you along on one of my little adventures.
Motorcycle rentals are available in Las Vegas NV and Washington UT from Harley Davidson and I will be available to show you around the area on my motorcycle if you like.

We had a great stay with Don. A very comfortable home and well appointed. Don is a great host. Will return here again as there is still a lot we want to do in the area.
We had the most amazing stay with Don. His house was beautiful with the most incredible views. He had even left us a few bits in the fridge to start us off. A really lovely place to stay.
We got back after a day at Bryce Canyon (just a short drive away) and Don offered to take us out and show us two old Indian sites where there were pictographs, AMAZING!! The places were stunning, so peaceful and so interesting. We could not of asked for a better host, warm, welcoming and it definitely felt like home for a few days.
Don was a terrific host and we really enjoyed his home. It's clean, well stocked, and very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Kanab is a great central location for enjoying Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon National Parks. We definitely recommend staying at Don's house to enjoy all three from one central location. It was our first Airbnb experience and I can only say, GREAT!
We really enjoyed our stay in Kanab. Don was a great host, very friendly and able to offer suggestions on things to do in the area. He has a beautiful well kept place with a beautiful view. We'd recommend to anyone visiting this area.
Good place for a good vacation! We felt right at home in Don's place. It was welcoming, clean, and comfortable. Plus the shower was really awesome, especially after our long days of hiking!
The house is settled about 1 hour south of the visitor center of Zion (drive through the south end of the park) and about 1.5 hours north of the Grand Canyon's North Rim. Both are a "must do" for new comers and the drives are very scenic. There are even some fun trails to hike/climb right around the town of Kanab!
Don was all you could ask for in a host. Friendly, sociable, and all around great guy. He stayed on the property in the guest house during our time there, so it was easy to check in with him with any questions. He gave us a ton of great info on fun things to do outside of the tourist traps, all while being mindful of our personal space.
I would definitely recommend this place/host to all who are interested and we'll be staying there again when planning our trip.
This was the best vacation ever! Don was so accommodating and pleasant. His home is super clean with an amazing view. I will definitely be back at another time. Laban was the perfect place to see Bruce, Zion, and Grand Canyon. I cannot say enough at how happy I am about staying at dons home.
We were very pleased with our stay at Grand Canyon Getaway. While there is not a lot in the small town of Kanab, it was a great location for enjoying Zion Nat. Park. The house itself is lovely, and the host is so incredibly generous. There were breakfast treats provided for us - and some coffee, ample bath samples in case we forgot something, and we even got a wonderful tip about how to find some petroglyphs at Zion. The kitchen was well stocked, not only with dishes - but with food staples (oils, spices, sugar, etc.) which made cooking in more affordable and enjoyable. We also enjoyed eating on the porch, taking in the great weather and the canyon views. The master bath was amazing. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. There were laundry supplies so that we could wash a load of clothes (helpful after sweaty days of hiking). I left my phone charger there by accident, and our host contacted me and offered to mail it to me! He really is a kind person who goes above and beyond to make a gracious and comfortable space for his guests. I would stay here again without hesitation.
