Great private room in a lovely safe and charming neighborhood only 15 minutes to Grand Central Station.
I am an easy going hostess who has lived in NYC for 18 years. When asked, I have lots of suggestions for places to visit, what to see or where to eat.
Please note that this is a shared situation. Your room is private-I provide linens. There is one bathroom that is shared. I sleep in the living room which is closed off at night.
Although I love sharing my home with guests, please note I work from home so I respectfully ask that you spend most of your day visiting the the city. This is the best situation for everyone. I start work around 10 am and prefer that you are out and about within a reasonable time to me starting my work routine.
Your room is comfortable, clean, quiet and beautifully appointed with Manhattan SKYLINE VIEWS. Also-- location is very convenient if your visiting Brooklyn or Manhattan--with excellent transportation connections.
I can't say enough about what a really great place Sunnyside is! Lovely Historically landmarked Sunnyside has the feel of a small town inside of a great big city!!!!! Apt is only 6 subway stops from Grand Central (email hidden) and Lexington Ave in Midtown Manhattan (about 10-12 minutes away on the 7 subway line). The subway stop closest to the apt is only 2 blocks away(7 line 40th St/Lowery Station) and there are also 2 buses that get you into Manhattan in just a few minutes
A cab ride into Manhattan is very affordable and is usually about 15 dollars to get just about anywhere.
My neighborhood offers many choices for restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars & lounges, deli's, a local cinema, a great wine and spirits store, tons of local green markets and supermarkets in a the neighborhood.
**** If you are traveling with FIDO he is more than welcome to stay provided he/she is a well behaved animal for an additional fee. Sunnyside has a land-marked gardens district which is just a two minute walk away and well worth seeing as the little houses and gardens are quite charming.
I have a very sweet Umbrella Cockatoo (age 17 (I think)- who I just adopted 2 years ago) who shares my space with me as well.
My amenities have changed and I no longer provide breakfast.
When requesting the room, please confirm you have read the entire description and are in agreement.
Bedroom has wifi, flat screen tv, cable, kitchen, bathroom etc.

I love how I can walk down any avenue in Sunnyside and see an amazing view of Manhattan.
the 7 train is one avenue away and one block down.
the Q60 & the Q 32 are one block up and both go into Manhattan in about 15 minutes.
Also plenty of yellow cabs and hired livery available.
Be kind and courteous. Please double check that you have locked the apt door upon leaving. Please keep everything neat and clean. If coming back late please keep your voices lowered so as to not awaken either myself or 'Cuddles' the bird.
Joanne was very welcoming with me and my daughter. The apartament is very fine and is located in a quite and strategic area for tourist. In 20 min with 7 line train, we where able tu be in time square. Joanne give usefull indications for the place to go for dinner, shopping etc... And finally, my daughter got from Joanne a really beautifull present!!! Thanks Joanne, see you next time in NY.
Love the neighborhood, accurate description of apartment.
Joanne is very personable, warm, kind, open.
Joanne and her beloved parrot - Cuddles are the most ecxited (website hidden) I have ever had. Together with my firend we have stayed two nights in theirs cosy and lovely apartment. All as it's seen on pictures plus much more of positive energy, Joanne's advises (where to go, what to see to feel the magic NYC atmosphere). Joanne was so good as she served us beautifull pumpkin coffee in the morning and was very flexible with us coming home late at night. The area of this part of Queeis tidy and safe - something like 5 mins walk from the subway - with very easy access to Manhattan.
My friend and I stayed with Joanne for 5 days in mid-October. Joanne is so nice, energetic, funny, and just great to talk to. She was very helpful and welcoming and accommodating. She always asked us what we had planned for the day and made suggestions and recommendations based on what we answered. Joanne has a pet bird named Cuddles. She is so cute, but a bird nonetheless, so she will squawk if she sees you bustling around the apartment during her waking hours, which is why Joanne says it’s “better for everyone” if you spend the day outside the apartment. And just to be clear, Cuddles never bothered us, day or night; we slept soundly. She wasn’t an issue at all. About the actual place, it is a nice apartment in Sunnyside, Queens, just a 7-minute walk to the 40 St-Lowery St subway station for the 7 train, which takes about 20 minutes to get to Manhattan. Joanne has decorated the place really nicely and it was clean and tidy. We slept in the room, while Joanne slept in the living room. The bed (pillow-top) was comfortable and Joanne provided linens and (really awesome) towels. We had a TV in the room and Wi-Fi. We shared a bathroom with Joanne, which was completely fine, and used Joanne’s kitchen and utensils to cook breakfast every day; she just got a toaster oven! (Note: there is no microwave). Overall, it was a very nice experience staying with Joanne. The neighbors we encountered were very nice. The walk from the subway station was perfectly fine; nothing shady. Joanne made our bed after we left every day, which she really didn’t have to do, and she always offered us whatever she had cooked whenever we saw each other during mealtime. (Note: she makes a mean lemon square). The only thing we didn’t count on was that the Queens-bound train would skip our stop on some nights, which is, obviously, not Joanne’s fault. We asked her and she quickly told us what to do (get off at the next stop and take the Manhattan-bound train, which didn’t skip, to our (email hidden)). I hope this helps! :)
Spending the Week at Joanne's und Cuddles' place made our trip to New York to an unforgettable experience. Everything was just stunning. Nice neighbors, great diners around, the view at the skyline from her apartment. We felt like being home (website hidden) Host Joanne is very funny und warmly and she gave us useful tips . Cuddles (her bird) is amazing!!!! Its impossible not to fall in love with her.
Thank u both for a wonderful time.
Joanne was very friendly and knew many great places to visit and eat. Had coffee waiting for us each morning. The bedroom was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. We loved visiting with Cuddles, Joanne's bird. The location was perfect, easy getting in and out of Manhattan.
I am a fun, open minded, easy going person who truly enjoys having company and being a hostess!
I am a real estate agent with an amazingly beautiful apt just 6 subway stops to Grand Central. My apt faces west and has lovely sunsets with the city as a backdrop from every window.
