The space
Welcome to Still Water Bindery at Winter Hill Farm! Step back into time and relax in the country. Take a workshop, or rest of the deck or porches.

This 1830s farmhouse sits on 2.5 acres of land, with an organic vegetable garden, fruit trees & berry bushes, and perennial flower beds provide flowers for bouquets.

Wander down the back meadow and stroll five minutes along the old railroad bed to the historic Newfane Village.

WORKSHOPS ~ Still Water Bindery gives workshops in Bookbinding, Paper Making, Paste Papers and Shibori Indigo Dyeing. Contact Patty for workshop availability when you make your AirBnB reservation. Or book through the AirBnB Experiences for Newfane, VT.

ACCOMMODATIONS ~ Two cozy upstairs bedrooms ~ one with a comfy double bed and a second private connecting room, with twin beds ~ await your visit. The private bathroom has a tub/shower and is on the same floor.

RELAX ~ The front porch, studio deck, and the large screened-in carriage shed are perfect for reading and relaxing in warmer weather. During the colder months curl up with a book in the living room. Walk the back meadow or do some yoga on the deck.

KITCHEN ~ The kitchen is off limits for use by guests. No microwave or stove facilities are available for guests' usage. Who wants to cook on vacation anyway?

WIFI & CELL ~ Wireless internet is very spotty and there is no reliable cell service in Newfane. Welcome to Vermont ~ and enjoy some time being off the internet!

DINING ~ The Four Columns Inn and Artisan Restaurant is a block away right in Newfane Village. The Fat Crow restaurant is four blocks south on Route 30. Walk right down the hill from SWB for a gourmet meal or two!

YOGA ~ Newfane Village Yoga is several houses away, so you can take a yoga class while staying here.

HISTORY ~ The newly renovated West River Valley Railroad Museum is now open weekends from May through October. Stroll down the back meadow to the former railway bed and walk to the museum.

MASSAGE ~ enjoy Swedish, Hot Stone or an Ashiatsu therapy session either a five minute walk away, or in your AirBnB room. Once you make your reservation, ask me for the therapist's contact information so you can arrange your private session.

FARMERS MARKET ~ Friday nights at the West Townshend Country Store has live music by local musicians and top your own pizzas baked in the outdoor oven year round. The Townshend Farmer's Market runs Friday evenings from from May - October. 10 minute drive north on Route 30 from the house.

SKI ~ Easy access to ski Mt. Snow or Stratton. According to Maps, Mount Snow is 32 minutes and Stratton Mountain 34 minutes from SWB.

MUSIC ~ enjoy the Marlboro Music Festival, Marlboro, VT and the Yellow Barn Music Festival, Putney, VT

SHOP ~ Manchester, VT is about a 30 minute drive and home to the Northshire Bookstore, a wonderful independent store and cafe. Many outlet centers and restaurants call Manchester their home. Brattleboro is 11 miles south on VT Route 30, where you will find more restaurants, galleries, eclectic shops, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, and the Brattleboro Food Co-op.

HIKE ~ Putney Mountain is a 30 minute hike with a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains. The Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail are accessible from trail heads near Manchester, VT. Hike from Jamaica State Park to Hamilton Falls, only 12 minutes to the trail head. Or hike the old railroad bed along the West River from Jamaica State Park to the Ball Mountain Dam.

BIKE ~ Many wonderful back roads lend themselves for great bike rides through the Vermont countryside. Bike from SWB through Brookline for a lovely hour's ride past the historic round schoolhouse, swimming holes and farm land.

FISH ~ The West River is a favorite spot for many fishermen. The combination of deep slow running water and shallow fast ripples makes for some fine fishing.

We are ready to welcome you all year long to this southern Vermont retreat!
