A well-equipped kitchenette allows you to stay and enjoy the view in peace and quiet for as long as you like. Walk down to the beach with complimentary snorkel, surf and beach gear. Return to clean up in your private full bath before heading out to explore the wonders of Kaua'i's North Shore. Why do people stay with us?
The unique view: only a handful of people on Kauai get to experience this view, no less wake up to it! Only one small road on the island has these views.
The location: We are smack dab between the most beautiful North Shore and North-Eastern Shore beaches. It's a 15 minute walk out our door to the St. Regis beach. We are 5 minutes from the nearest grocery store, restaurants and shops (few can say that on this island), and 10 minutes from the renowned Hanalei town with its quaint restaurants, shops and health food store.
Off the beaten path: the unique view, the quiet road, the quirky island-style charm of our apartment. This is a place and an experience that few will get to have!
A few things to note while you're considering staying with us:
Bugs: They are reality for every island accommodation. We make every effort to provide a bug-free environment. However, the tropical climate means we have occassional visitors despite our best efforts. The most frequent visitors are harmless sugar ants with the occasional mosquito. We use a myriad of methods to deter and remove them, resorting to chemical spray on the outside as a last option.
Sound: Your private studio apartment shares walls and a door (locked and soundproofed) with the rest of our home. Thus, there will be some carryover of muffled voices or sounds. We offer earplugs for the numerous Kauai roosters and a white-noise fan to allow for peace of mind and comfort.
Quirks: Your studio apartment has everything you need to be comfortable--a fully equipped kitchenette, a supremely comfortable king size bed, a small table for dining, a lanai (porch), a full bathroom, and plenty of beach equipment. It is, however, a studio within a larger home, and not a free-standing structure. And it is comfortably and cleanly decorated in quirky island-style. Read: Not all the furniture matches each other. And the kitchenette is a post-construction installation.
Our guests will have private and exclusive access to:
- Well-equipped kitchenette, including such appliances as: electric stove-top with enamel cast iron ware, convection toaster oven, vacuum pot coffee maker that grinds whole beans, electric wok, electric griddle, rice cooker, blender, vegetable steamer, electric BBQ grill, pots and pans, utensils, dishes, etc. Save money and spend more time with the view!
- Full bath, with shower/tub, sink and toilet
- King-size Bed, with uber-comfortable memory foam mattress, new down pillows and clean, cozy linens
- Cable TV, 5.1 surround sound system with DVD, iPod/iPhone dock, mini-plug input, radio
- Free Wireless Internet for all of your own devices
- A lanai with 180-degree panoramic view
- Beach Gear Bonanza: boogie boards, silicone snorkel gear, beach mats, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, beach umbrella. If you don't see what you need, ask!
- Guides: We have a plethora of guidebooks and are available for personal recommendations.
- Massage/Energy Work: Emily, one of your hosts, is a Licensed Massage Therapist and can offer onsite massage, and energy healing tailored to your needs. Please inquire for your special rate. Advanced noticed (24 hours or even before your trip) is appreciated.
- Mountain Bikes: Available upon request.
Interaction with Guests
Our guests enjoy a private studio apartment with its own private entrance and lanai. We stay in the other half of the duplex, leaving you in peace and quiet unless you need anything.
Evans is happy to make recommendations for local things to do (hikes, restaurants, snorkeling, other activities, etc.), and Emily is a certified massage therapist and energy healer - ask for her special rates just for our guests! We handle the cleaning ourselves, so anything to help us when you leave (such as cleaning your dirty dishes) is much appreciated.
We live on a quiet street with few neighbors. A 15-minute walk and you will arrive at a beautiful beach shared by guests of the five-star St. Regis Hotel.
Located on the edge of Princeville, we are a short biking/driving distance from several special places, including Queen's Bath tidal pool, Hideaways Beach and Sea Lodge Beach (with cliffside waterfall!).
Nearby (5 min drive) is the Princeville Shopping Center, complete with grocery store, gas station, art boutiques, restaurants and nearby golf course. Within a 10 minute drive to Hanalei, there are restaurants, a health foods store, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, beach-walking, kayaking, hiking, biking and more. We are also close to the Princeville Golf Course, Botanical Gardens, North Shore beaches, helicopter tours (Princeville Airport), adventure tours (such as zipline, horseback riding and off-roading at Princeville Ranch Adventures) and more.
And of course, we are close to other North Shore attractions, such as the Kilauea Lighthouse, Tunnels Beach, Kalalau Trail and the myriad of secluded, pristine beaches for snorkeling, swimming, surfing, sunning or simply swooning. ;-)
Rent a Car: We highly recommend renting a car in order to explore the beauty of Kaua'i, as well as for ease and safety in getting around. A 4x4 is not necessary but will allow you to get to some of the more remote locations (inquire for recommendations).
Other options: There is a bus stop at the Princeville Shopping Center, 1.5 miles away or about a 20 minute walk from our place. We may be able to assist with pick-up/drop-off (please inquire). Taxis are about $100 from the airport one-way (inquire for a rate of $88). Hitchhiking is legal and relatively safe here but not always convenient, especially on vacation or at night. You will also have access to two mountain bikes (please inquire). Biking within Princeville is relatively safe and easy. Leaving Princeville, such as biking down to Hanalei on our two-lane "highway", is practically impossible and extremely unsafe.
Other Things to Note
Please Note: The property is now for sale, listed at twice the market price. (We are renters.) Properties of this price generally take a long time (one year or more) to sell on Kauaʻi. There are also some permitting issues that make it a complicated sell, especially since the buyer will want to tear down this old island-style plantation house in order to build a mansion to fit the view. This endeavor will further hinder the property from selling in the near future.
That being said, for peace of mind for all involved, we are only booking two months out; the timeframe to accommodate a 60 day escrow period. Please feel free to inquire about future dates.
During your stay, we would give you at least 24 hours notice (if not more) of any possible appointment by a potential buyer with the real estate agent. The property is being sold for the view, not the house. The buyer may want to see the view from the lanai, which they can do without accessing your space. You would be welcome to lock your space for added peace of mind.
It may be helpful to know that the likelihood of a real estate visit taking place during your stay is extremely low. Weʻve been informed that even one appointment per month would be hoppin', and thus we don't expect even that much. Please feel free to let us know if you have any concerns or questions as you consider staying with us.

Also please note we give preference for longer stays and ones that match up with previous or upcoming stays. We appreciate having back-to-back bookings and seek to avoid one to two night "gaps." Thank you for your understanding. There is a discount if you book a week or longer.
We want you to have the BEST STAY possible with the BEST VIEW possible! Our goal is for you to have everything you need and easy access to everything you desire.

- Note: We collect Hawaii's Travel Accommodations and General Excise Taxes (total: 13.25% of payout to us) separately from Airbnb, calculating and sending you the amount ahead of time so you can be prepared to pay via cash, check, cc or PayPal upon your arrival.
Kauai's dirt/mud is notorious for getting everywhere, so please use our outdoor hose with spray nozzle to rinse off excess dirt/mud. We may have to charge for ruined white sheets/towels if a guest muddies them too much. See Kauai's infamous "Dirt Shirts" to know what we mean when the mud here stains! Nonetheless, we are understanding and appreciate your careful consideration for the next guests and our cleaning abilities!
