The Whittier neighborhood is one of the oldest in the city of Minneapolis. In the 1800's the area was the choice of the wealthy who built their homes here because the land was at a higher elevation than surrounding terrain and was close to the downtown business district. Many of these homes still stand strong, giving our portion of Whittier the title "Historic Mansion District".
Today you will find everything is nearby - Convention Center, three beautiful parks, theaters, museums, dining, groceries, coffee shops, laundry, pharmacy, and shopping - all within walking distance.
Public Bus (MTC) & Light Rail Transit (LRT)
Nicollet Avenue is a major public bus artery with frequent service and quick connections to all other bus routes and the LRT lines.
Trains on the Hiawatha Line travel from downtown Minneapolis to the Airport & Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. The Central Corridor Line travels from Minneapolis through the University of MN campus to St. Paul. The North Star Line travels from Target Field (home of the Minnesota Twins baseball team) on the western edge of downtown Minneapolis to Big Lake, MN.
Taxi - Lyft* - Uber*
Minneapolis has a variety of taxi cab services and a few new "ride share" companies are making it easier (and cheaper) to get around Downtown and the Twin Cities.
Hourly Bike & Car Rentals
24/7 rentals of bicycles or autos through Nice Ride MN* & Car2Go*. There are two bike stations and normally about 10 cars parked nearby, ready for members anytime!
Extra Travel Fun!
During fair weather Pedicabs and Horse Carriages are available throughout downtown. The Pedal Pub* is such a hilarious mode of transport that you'll want to try "drinking & pedaling" at least once!

A.R. was a terrific host and I couldn't be more pleased with my stay. Although brief, my stay was incredibly comfortable and both A.R. and Andrew were obviously very interested in their guests comforts. Beautiful place, highly recommended.
A.R. and David were great about welcoming us to their home. They accommodated our late night arrival, and kept track of 9 people arriving at various times. They made extra beds for us and had plenty of keys. It was so nice to have a big apartment where all of us could stay together. Their home is on a block with other beautiful mansions. We loved the front porch, where we had our dinner one night. They were very patient with our 2 toddlers, which earns them extra points in my book:)
So A.R. and David could not have done one single thing better. They were incredible from beginning to ending. They are so kind not just as hosts but as people. They provided so much more than the normal host. The house was just as nice as the photos. They offered us some free food. They took care of all our needs. And we had a great time talking with them.
Finally, I cannot say enough great things. A.R. and David made me want to return to Minneapolis just so we can rent their place again. They were perfect!
So spacious, clean and convenient location- A.R. was great at giving us everything we needed to feel comfortable during our stay!
This absolutely charming apartment was more wonderful than we imagined! The description on airbnb couldn't quite express the spacious reality we found ourselves enjoying. A.R. and David responded to all requests within 15 minutes and were more than gracious about even perhaps unreasonable requests. We would definitely rent this space again, if an opportunity arises.
I chose this BnB because it was around the corner from our daughter's apartment, but I would heartily recommend it to anyone. The location is terrific: an easy walk to the wonderful MIA and shops and restaurants, and just off a lovely park. The space itself was so warm and comfortable, we couldn't believe our good fortune in having this as our home base--and our hosts were terrific. They went out of their way to accommodate our every need, were always easily reachable, and made us feel at home while respecting our wish for family time. As long as our daughter is living in Minneapolis, we will be staying here when we visit!!
We had such a fantastic experience at this beautiful home and plan on coming back as soon as possible! The location was perfect... we were attending a few concerts downtown and were able to walk almost everywhere we went over the weekend. Additionally, nice but unnecessary finishing touches such as a complimentary bowl of fruit and waffles were much appreciated.
