Spacious and lofty; an ideal quiet get-away retreat for a couple. Great base for a few days exploration of our wonderful Wanaka area!
Although the flat is ideally suited to a couple, there is a spare single bed in the living room and a separate (attached) small room with a single bed available if required. There would be an extra $15/person charge for occupancy by more than two people.
The Wanaka district is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts; from cycling to climbing, from skiing to water sports - there is something for everyone!
The kitchenette has a fridge/freezer, microwave & desk-top mini oven. However, full cooking facilities are not available. Coffee/tea/sugar provided.
We can do a continental breakfast if required for a small fee.
A late check out may be available - extra charge applies after 12 mid day - please enquire
Use of washing machine available
Interaction with Guests
We are a retired couple living on the premises with a quiet dog and 2 cats (which are not permitted in the flat!) You will have total independence coming and going, but we will be around if you have any queries.
This is a quiet semi-rural residential area, and with our house on the edge of a bank, we have uninterrupted panoramic views and all day sun. All the properties on our road are at least half an acre, so have a spacious feel. The area is covered in conserved native kanuka with some additional landscaping - in our case - mainly shrubs and trees; we are not avid gardeners!
There are buses to Wanaka available from Queenstown, Dunedin and other main centers, but most visitors prefer to hire a car for convenience and flexibility. However, we are happy to collect guests from the Wanaka bus drop off point.
Alternatively, Wanaka with all its attractive restaurants, two cinemas and the internationally renowned 'Puzzling World' can be explored by bike - it is only 5km away
The nearest commercial airport is at Queenstown (1 hr drive) but our local airport offers an extensive range of scenic flights, sky diving etc + there is an absorbing transport and toy museum to explore for the less adventurous.
Other Things to Note
Please note - we do NOT have full kitchen facilities in the flat.
The kitchenette is designed for simple reheats of pre-cooked meals or heat-in-the-pan type meals. Specifically - frying is not permitted - sorry!
Please no smoking inside!
And no pets permitted.
Internet is available, but we would appreciate it if you do not use it to download movies or other large files!
You may come and go as you please, but we expect consideration be given to others after 11pm . Thank you
The place was a beautiful apartment with a gorgeous view, excellent shower, wonderful hosts. There's even a sweet dog! We loved the design of the house, and it was right next to a great walk near the river. Highly recommended :)

A beautiful self contained flat with truly spectacular views of the mountains. Barbara and her husband were lovely hosts with lots of great info on the Wanaka area. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Barbara and her husband were kind and welcoming. They even helped us do our laundry in their washing machine. The apartment was comfortable, and the view out into the mountains was beautiful.
Very nice and clean apartment. Barbara very welcoming and helpful. Our stay was very short, but accommodation was perfect. Thank you for the pleasant stay.
Barbara and Rich were fantastic hosts and their flat was PERFECT for exploring Wanaka. They were hospitable and made us feel welcome. The location is great if you have a car and in a very quiet and nice neighborhood with an incredible view from the flat's deck. I highly recommend staying here and would do so again.
We had a great stay. The apartment was very nice and clean. Barbara was welcoming and check in went smooth. Can recommend Barbaras place to anyone!
Barbara made us feel very welcome to her beautiful house and the apartment was perfect, very private with fantastic views and well appointed facilities.
I am a keen photographer but with knee problems, regrettably not skiing - however still taking photos! (I am also a vet, but am 'inactive' due to joint problems; moot point whether I return to my profession in a working capacity)
My retired husband & I consider ourselves very blessed to be living in THE most beautiful part of NZ and enjoy sharing our home with others. My husband's passion is fishing - but with patchy results unfortunately. However, we both love the outdoors and the numerous opportunities to do things!
