The garden is a central area of the house, a quite and peaceful oasis in the middle of vibrant Gràcia. It is an ideal area for work, meditation, friendly meetings, barbecues, etc. Given the fine weather of Barcelona, the garden is a very pleasant and useful place most time of the year. The garden has two areas. The first one (garden plants) is shared with the customers of the nice groundfloor shop (Olokuti) the second one (vegetable garden) is just for hosts and our family.
Gràcia is one of the most attractive and dynamic districts of Barcelona. The house is situated at just 5 min walk from Fontana’s metro station, which takes you to the city’s centre (10 min) and the harbor (15 min). Also, nearby, there is Gracia suburban train station (7 min walk) which takes you, in less than 15 min, to Collserola forest, the green lung of (website hidden)àcia is adored by artists and intellectuals for its rich cultural activities and popular celebrations as well as for its rich and diverse gastronomy and night-life.
Traditionally, Gràcia was a popular district, known for its craft makers, popular celebrations and ceremonies, which still remain today as vibrant and lively. Despite its proximity to the city center, the district is, happily, still well protected from massive tourism and has kept its quaint and sought after village atmosphere.
We came to Barcelona for a family reunion with members arriving from California, Florida, France and Finland. The house at #36 Carrerd'Asturies was perfect for all of us. Pluses: metro nearby, quiet neighborhood to come home to after a day's exploration of Barcelona sights, good and small restaurants nearby for a variety of menus. Minuses: can't think of any. The historic building itself was a treat to have as our base for the week.
We spent our first visit ever to Barcelona at Mireia's wonderful house in Barcelona, and it felt like home from the moment we arrived. The flat is vast - 4 bedrooms, each with a work area. There is an enclosed veranda overlooking the back garden, a well-appointed kitchen, a library, and a lovely living room. The garden seems like an impossible amenity in this fantastic, densely built neighborhood; we all marveled at its existence.
We stayed with another family - 7 people total - and it was absolutely perfect. The house had spaces large enough for us to all spend time together as well as gain privacy when anyone wished. Although the front rooms overlook a busy street, the windows are practically soundproof. (And there is air conditioning for staying cool if the windows are closed.)
The neighborhood is walkable and has everything you could possibly desire. There is a great organic grocery a few doors down with a wide variety of products. The street also offers bakeries, wine and liquor shops, fresh produce in abundance, fantastic ice cream, and a huge variety of non-food shopping opportunities. There are restaurants of every description within a few blocks, with great food at a range of price points. The house is 5 minutes from the metro, which goes seemingly everywhere and is quite efficient. It is a simple matter to get to the Sagrada Familía on foot or by metro, as well as Guell Park, the beach, or any of Barcelona's many attractions.
Mireia is a treasure. She is warm and generous, and made us feel at home. Our stay took place during the Gracia (neighborhood) annual festival, a tremendous event of art, food, performances, and more. She made sure we knew the highlights to seek out, and even left us notes about special events she thought we might enjoy. She equipped us with maps, festival guides, and even loaned us a couple of books by a local author who wrote novels set in Gracia. She checked on us to make sure we had what we needed, but was never obtrusive. When we asked her about a small issue, she resolved it immediately.
Mireia is very flexible about check-in and check-out, as well, an amenity we greatly appreciated.
This was one of our best AirB&B experiences ever, and it made fans of our friends as well. If we return to Barcelona - as we hope to do - We would want to stay here, in our "Barcelona Home," again.
Mireia's appartment is really lovely: very authentic, clean and in charming Gracia. Mireia was very kind and made us feel welcome. The 'finishing touch' was that she recommended some special places to go for diner and other activities, which was very nice. We had a wonderfull time and would love to go back here some time!
We had a magnificent stay at Mireia’s and Ahmed’s apartment; the beautiful photos more than do it justice. Mireia was a wonderful host and made us feel extremely welcome (amongst many other kindnesses she gave us a bottle of Cava and some extremely tasty cake to see the New Year in!). All the rooms are stylish, clean and well cared for and it makes you wonder why anyone would ever bother to stay in a hotel. We were fortunate enough to spend a evening in Mireia and Ahmed’s company and had a lovely time, chatting and eating and it made us feel like bona fine Barcelonians.
I would recommend this apartment wholeheartedly – Gracia is a gorgeous and extremely handy location, within walking distance of the city centre but far enough away to make you not feel caught in the tourist trap and like you are getting a glimpse of the authentic, behind-the-scenes city life. Enjoy your stay!
A great apartment with lots of space. Well equipped and full of character. Very child-friendly for an 8 year old and a toddler, including toys and crib. Thank you Mereia and family for hosting us.
We had a wonderful week in Barcelona.
We couldn't have had a better place to stay at than this fantastic, unique and personal apartment and the belonging garden.
We loved Garcia and its surrounding.
We got a lot of good information and advice about visiting Barcelona from Mireia.
We will definitely come back again.
Thank you Mireia
This apartment is a gem! We loved staying here - there were 4 of us and we had a very relaxing time.
it is a great base for visiting Barcelona, Gracia is busy and interesting, lots to do, lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. Metro is 5 minutes walk so very easy to get anywhere quickly.
Have stayed in Barcelona many times but this has been by far the best accommodation.
Thank you Mireia!
Arriving to the apartment was like a dream. Clean and light with beautiful details in every room. The view to the garden on one side and to the small lively street to the other gave opportunity to seek both rest and life at it suited the situation.
Only thing to be aware of is that the two rooms to the street has some noise during the night. But the third room was quiet turning to the garden. The overall picture is a place that feels like a home, and inspire you to live.
Mireia was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was spacious and charming and very in keeping with the area which we also found delightful. Our only problem was the noise from the street at night time that made sleeping a bit of a challenge in the front two bedrooms. Otherwise though a beautiful space and location.
beautiful apartment in a fantastic location. mireia was generous and helpful throughout our stay.
