Included essentials make mornings extra easy.
This treehouse is completely and totally isolated.. You’ll love Whale Island because of hunting, fishing, beach-combing, and kayaking. The moss covered trees make you feel like you are in the middle of a MIddle Earth Adventure. Whale Island Cabins are good for couples, solo adventurers, and big groups. The cabins are not on the Kodiak mainland, but rather on a nearby island. You will have to make arrangements to get from Kodiak to the island by charter boat or float plane.

The space
The kitchenette has a refrigerator, coffeemaker, hot water boiler, microwave, and a toaster oven. The cabin is stocked with basics such as coffee, milk, bisquick, syrup, and soups (etc). Linens are provided. There is an outhouse below the cabin, but I have also provided a portable toilet for those late night needs. There is a generator for full power possibilities. A camp heater is available for the winter season. There is bottled water, rainwater, a bucket heater, and a shower hut with a steel tub, but the cabins do not have running water.

Guest access
You will have access to the generator shed, outhouse, and the cabin. The cabins are on 4 acres bordering a cove and a lake. You may leave the property or walk on the beaches above the high tide mark without a Daily Use Permit from the Afognak Native Corporation, however you will need one if you are planning to hunt or fish the island.

Other things to note
This is an amazingly remote vacation. It is unlike anything else you have experienced. If you book with me, I will make sure you have all the information you need to get yourself settled in.

I am a high school History teacher who is preparing her retirement. This property is designed to operate remotely, but I look forward to one month of hosting each summer. My favorite place to be when I am not working is Whale Island. I am an unobtrusive host, but will be available when needed. I will accommodate in any way I can. I will help you with your passage to the island as well. Just contact me and tell me what you need. I use my middle name, Kathleen, or Kat.
