This rental is a unique, private, comfortable, 2 BR apartment within a larger home. Filled with art on a quiet street in the heart of Santa Barbara! Walk to theaters, concerts, restaurants, museum, supermarket, farmers market, department stores.
This is a private, self-contained, artfully decorated apartment within my larger property. It has its own entrance, and kitchen, a comfortable living room, cable TV, DVD, bluetooth stereo speakers, and wireless internet. There are 2 bedrooms, a king and a queen, a well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, and bathroom with bath and shower. Guests also have access to a landscaped front garden. Perfect for two couples, or one couple with older well behaved children or a baby. (NOT suitable for young active children because of glass doors and breakable artwork.) An extra comfortable single pull-out bed is available in the living room.
Guests are given their privacy, but you can easily reach your host if there is anything you need to make your stay more enjoyable. (We live in a completely separate part of the same house and are generally available.)
While this legal vacation rental is in a commercially zoned downtown area, it is a very relaxed, leafy and dynamic neighborhood. Everything is very convenient. You will love strolling out for coffee, or for a night of music or entertainment at the Granada theater or Soho for dancing, or for GREAT sushi, Mexican, Chinese or Mediterranean food or practically anything else you want. You can walk to the park, the art museum, great shopping or the movies. But, it is important to respect the neighbors, so please make sure you read and agree to the 'house rules' and 'other things to note' before booking your stay. The electric trolley, bus station, train station (Amtrak) and the airport are all easily accessible.
The location couldn't be better for enjoying all of the amenities of downtown without even getting in your car. This property has a 'Walk Score of 94'! Some of the best restaurants, music and entertainment venues are minutes away on foot. And, the major bus depot and the electric crosstown shuttle a very short walk away. This can take you to the beach, marina and zoo. Trains are also nearby. It is a quick easy drive to other beaches, mountain trails and the wine country.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are given complete autonomy and privacy. But you can easily reach your host if there is anything you need to make your stay more enjoyable. (We live in a completely separate part of the same building, a duplex.)

PLEASE NOTE- After the end of December, this listing will ONLY be available for stays of 30 days or more due to the regressive politics and special interests in the City of Santa Barbara. I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and hardship this will cause to visitors.

If you book my rental you are accepting the following common sense rules so everyone enjoys their stay and neighbors are not inconvenienced or annoyed.
Strictly no smoking inside, or outside in the yard.
This is a very happy and stable neighborhood and it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that guests are respectful of the neighbors who live here and need to sleep! There must be NO LOUD MUSIC, NO PARTIES or VISITORS without permission from your host.
Please return to the house QUIETLY at night. No loud talking, laughing, singing outside. Anyone who disturbs the neighbors will be asked to leave, with no refund.
Do not park in or block the driveway at ANY time. The driveway is shared with neighbors who need to get in and out of their garages behind the house.
Santa Barbara is suffering a very SERIOUS DROUGHT. It is important to not let the water run when brushing teeth, washing dishes or shampooing your hair. Short showers, please!
Sorry NO PETS. This is NOT a good rental for boisterous young children due to glass doors and breakable artwork. The owner is not responsible for any losses or injuries during your stay.
For your own protection, the front and back doors MUST be securely locked when you go out.

This is a great city that is easy to explore, and my home in a perfect location whether you are coming for a wedding, to visit friends, for a romantic getaway, or to enjoy the beach, trails, historic sites, live music, restaurants or the Funk Zone. You can walk to great restaurants and most attractions, and there is a award winning breakfast and deli place just around the corner that serves organic, gluten free pancakes to die for!
