Interaction with Guests
There are multiple rooms rented on AirBnB in this house so you will be sharing it with me(Orion) and other guests. This is so much fun! We often end up with an eclectic group from all over the world coming together for coffee in the morning and drinks around the neighborhood.
Bushwick is the current landing pad for NYC's great artistic (email hidden)l kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick’s converted loft spaces.
We are less than 1 block from Myrtle Ave and JMZ train stops putting you into Manhattan in 15 minutes or Williamsburg in 10 minutes.
It is also a very easy commute to JFK airport on public transit and a quick 20 minute cab ride to Laguardia airport.
Other Things to Note
Roberta's - NY Times called it "one of the more extraordinary restaurants in the United States. 2 minute walk.
Bushwick Country Club - birthplace of the now world famous 'pickleback' shots. 5 minute walk.
No young children or pets please :)
Cook whatever you want! Just clean up when you are finished.
Don't hog the shower during the morning.
Orion and Roo's place was in a sweet location and ideal for what we were after. The other housemates were awesome and friendly. It's good to note that the bathroom is shared by a few, but we're not fussy so this wasn't an issue. Loved the list of suggested local places- Happyfun Hideaway is a must for a local bar. Probably the easiest Airbnb experience I've had in NY- easy early check in and able to stash our bags. Perfect.
Cost effective in Brooklyn in safe neighborhood. Parking was easy and free. Bathroom very small. Confusion in how to enter was cleared up with call to host.
1. The value/price of the room is worth it. Less than 1 mins walk to subway station Line JMZ. If you plan to spend most of your time outside to explore NYC and have a limited budget for stay, stay here!!!
2. But the neighborhood at midnight... Let's say it looks like a scene in LOW & ORDER. So if you are a single lady (or two cute ladies), just find another place to stay.
3. If you sleep very early and light, find another place too.
The house have two floors, a basement, a garden and a mini balcony. The living room and kitchen are well organized, with any cooking tools you might need.
We love the washer and dryer too! So convenient to do the laundry at home! For free!
Different guests stay in different rooms, sometimes around 10 people in the same time. The host prepares a sleeping machine and a brand hair dryer for each room, very useful.
We stayed 4 nights at here, once we got used to the poor sound-proofing condition, everything was fine.
Here’s our review. We would like to highlight some important points of this location. You must know first that pictures shown in their website are way far to what in reality is, so in our opinion the price should be lower (and we’re talking as other airbnb renter-users). We were staying in the “suite B” which it was a small room between two other rooms and we could stay there thanks to the skylight that was there. If you are looking for a romantic please you should look somewhere else. This more like an airbnb location where you think you can get to know at least the person is renting you, looks more like a hostel and this makes the entire house very, very noisy. We were there during eastern holidays and NY was a bit chilly. We asked to Orion some blankets because at night the room was cold and it wasn’t enough with the plane blanket it was there prior to our arrival, unfortunately we didn’t have any response. The last and most important thing is that the place in general is not very clean. The room where we stayed needed a good vacuum cleaning and the toilets too!! The cleanest place in the house is the kitchen. Other than this NY is a great city to visit!
The room was exactly as the picture. I had some issue to get in at first but everything was solved with help from Orion. Great location, very near to the subway station, for some people it feels like a dangerous neighborhood but I don't felt that way, great bar just around the corner called Skytown.
Although we didn't get the chance to actually meet Orion and Roo, we had a great time in their home. Everything was well organized, so we had no problems getting into the house. As we were very busy exploring the city we didn't spend much time at the house. Price/value was excellent. If you are a light sleeper you may want to grab a pair of the earplugs provided in the living room. The metro runs by closely and there are other guests in the house. For us it wasn't a problem at all though. We can definitely recommend staying with Orion and Roo.
+ close to metro station
+ not spotless, but clean
+ communication before our stay, with news about upcoming events
+ well equipped kitchen
- the drain in the bathroom could have been cleaned more often

About the Host, Orion And Roo
I am a happy, talkative guy who loves food, drink, sports, and music. I am really good at the 'name this song' portion of the local trivia night. I enjoy chuckling, other people's pets, and giving restaurant recommendations :)
One day I hope to open my own restaurant or hotel.
