NEW - CENTRAL - DESIGN - TRENDY - BRIGHT ...
Recent upgrades/improvements (thanks to guest feedback!):
> The wifi network was not good enough with the triple-play box so we added a netgear wifi router and it is much better now.
> There is now a dvd player and choice dvds.
> The old door lock was a bit tricky so we changed the whole system to a new secure and easy-to-operate lock.
> The round table was a bit small so we replaced it with a new glass top folding table that comfortably fits 2.
Our apartment is a large 31 sqm (335 sqft) studio located in North Marais (NoMa), in the protected and historical Temple area, which has lately become one of the trendiest places for Parisians, around rue de Bretagne, Marche des Enfants Rouges, away from over-crowded south Marais and close to major subway connections.
It is on the 1st floor (US 2nd) of a 4-floor (US 5) 18th century building (NO LIFT). It is oriented South and has 2 wide windows overlooking a large, almost pedestrian street, and a third large window on a side street. It has an open outlook and is very bright. The area is lively in the summer evenings due to the restaurants in the street, but there are no night bars or clubs and therefore nights are quiet.
The building exterior was refurbished in 2011 and the apartment itself was fully renovated by an architect in November 2011. The staircase was renovated a few years ago and shows signs of age but is well above standards in the neighborhood.
The studio consists of:
- An entrance hall with separate toilet,
- A living area with an open fully equiped kitchen,
- An alcove bedroom, and
- A bathroom with an oversize walk-in shower.
The interior architecture is designed to give a feeling of space though preserving intimacy to the alcove bedroom. The real bed has a brand new high quality 160x200 mattress (Treca York black label), and the pull-out sofa bed (160x200) is designed for daily use and top quality (Unico).
It is fully equipped with brand new:
- Whirlpool refrigerator with freezer,
- Whirlpool oven/microwave combo,
- Scholtes washer/dryer combo,
- Electrolux glass top stove and venting hood,
- Electrolux dishwasher,
- Samsung 32' cable HD TV,
- Sony ipod, Iphone / CD sound system (with a selection of CDs),
- Brandt radio alarm clock,
- Siemens cordless phone,
- Nespresso coffee machine,
- Boiler, toaster,
- Iron and ironing board,
It comes with fresh and good quality bed linen (2 pilows per guest until 2) and towels (3 towels per guest until 2), primary and backup WiFi connection, free telephone to several countries and cable TV with 70 channels and international AC adapter for your own devices.
- Choice of tea,
- Choice of coffee caps for Nespresso coffee machine,
- Salt, pepper, oil and vinegar
OPTIONAL (please ask):
- Local prepaid cellphone : 30 eur
- Canal + (Number one French pay TV) : 10 eur/week
An area filled with history:
The Templars headquarters was built here in the 12th century. It sheltered the Templar’s treasury, until 13 Oct. 1307 when all Templars were arrested on the same day nationwide (known as the largest police operation ever and origin of Friday the 13th). The temple house was then used throughout centuries as a jail until Louis XVI, the last king of France was kept there with Marie-Antoinette before being taken to the guillotine.
The Temple house was then destructed after the French revolution as the fear was that it became a royalist pilgrimage. Today the only remaining signs of the Templars presence are embeded in the buildings of the area, a full size floorplan of the Temple tower painted on the pavement by the city hall and a memorial plate with a map of the old Temple buildings.
In a more recent history, n°14 Corderie Street was the headquarters of riotters "Communards" during the attempt revolution of 1871, known as "Commune de Paris".
The Temple area now consists of the English-style Temple square, the Eiffel-like steel structure temple market (Carreau du Temple), the classical 19th century 3rd district city hall, a superior school of design (école Duperrée), restaurants, art galleries, shops and a few private apartments, including our Studio, which faces the temple market and the school of design.
Central and convenient location:
Our studio is walking distance from Place des Vosges, Centre Pompidou, Notre-Dame and Musée Picasso and 10-20 min. metro ride from every other point of interest in Paris (République and Temple subway stations are around the corner).

Very nice and comfortable apartment at a very good and central location. Creative and convenient lay-out with all relevant comforts.
Host very responsive and accommodating.
My wife and I had a fantastic stay in this beautiful apartment. It has everything you could ask for in addition to being perfectly located.
Looking forward to our next trip!
We stayed at Benoit's appartment for a short trip to Paris, and we absolutely enjoyed the experience. It's a cosy place that has been thoughtfully designed to work beautifully despite its small size. The level of quality is high - from kitchen appliances to bathroom furnishings.
From the appartment, it's a minute's walk to some of our favourite places in Paris, including nice cafés and bars. Benoit was very helpful and provided us with so some good tips around the area.
If you're looking for a conveniently located, beautiful place to stay in Paris, look no further.
My friend and I stayed at Benoit's flat for almost 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years. There was an issue with the power on Christmas eve which he was very quick to respond to and handle. It is a great flat perfect for 2, an amazing neighborhood with great food and night life. Near 2 metro stops and an easy walk directly to Notre Dame (about 15min). Also around the corner from a Monoprix. Benoit was a lovely host and very quick to respond to any questions or concerns to do the our stay. I would happily stay at this flat again for any future visits to Paris.
My wife and I had a great experience in Paris and Benoit's apartment is in a very desirable neighborhood - close to everything my walking or easy to get to Metro. He was very good with communication. He had an assistant of his meet as during check in and she was very friendly and helpful.
Thank you Benoit!
Our stay here was lovely! The flat was just as we expected and hoped for. There was a little problem with the electricity but Benoit sorted it ASAP so it wasn't an issue. The neighbourhood was very trendy and safe. We will definitely be coming back!
Benoit is a very good AIRBNB host. He was unable to meet us on arrival but arranged for his cleaning lady Sophie to meet withus. Sophie gave us a friendly greeting and showed us around the apartment and gave us instructions on operating everything.
The apartment is extremely well located with all the essentials close by: Restaurants/Cafe's, Shops and Transport.
We found the apartment extremely comfortable and well equipped for our 10 day stay. The Nespresso machine was very much appreciated for that early morning caffeine hit. I would highly recommend Benoit's apartment.
Loved Benoit's apartment. Super comfortable and the shower was great. The nespresso maker is a definite plus in the morning while we were getting ready for our days adventure. The neighborhood is fantastic with loads of cafes and bakeries within walking distance. When we would get back to the apartment at the end of a long day of walking and sightseeing, it felt like a little piece of cozy comfort. Thank you Benoit!
Good communication, great location, well equipped and really attentive to details. We would be happy to stay there again !
this studio is perfect, looked exactly the same as the pics.
we didn't get to meet Benoit, but met his helper Sheila, she explained everything very well.
the studio was closed to République metro station, just 2 blocks away! and there's lots of cafe / pubs downstairs during the weekends, we've went down to have a drink after a long visit day too, not too noisy tho. The neighborhood was very safe, we back to the studio around 12am every night.
there's a food market nearby, we bought mussels and oysters every morning, and cooked ourself. the open kitchen have everything we needed.
the shower & hairdryer were excellent!!
everything is so perfect, and thanks Benoit made us felt like home.
we def. will come back when we come to Paris again.
Merci beaucoup Benoit.
