We recently had an excellent stay. Everything was beautiful and clean. The neighborhood was very nice, clean, and safe. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings and grilling out. Mark was very attentive and helpful - even helping us by mailing home something we left behind. Tacoma proved to be a great location for exploring the area. We roamed Seattle, took a day trip out to Olympic National Park, and tool in the Museum of Flight. I'm glad we made this decision and would do it again!
This place is gorgeous, very clean, and has an incredible view. The host Mark and his family are the most nicest and generous people I have ever met, and you feel as if you are a part of their family right from the start. I have two boys ages 10 and 1 and they made sure they fit right in. The 10 year old is already asking when we can come back and see mark and his family again. This place exceeded way more than what you would ever expect from any bnb, and I would highly recommend this place to anybody who loves a down home feel. There is no hustle and bustle, just a comfy and cozy place, truly a hidden gem. We will definitely be staying here again in the future. I am originally from the area, but moved away 6 years ago. I have a huge family that I come back to visit for yearly reunions so I can honestly say this area is safe and very family friendly. If you love the outdoors like we do, there is a cute little park in walking distance that also has a hiking trail that leads to the waterfront. Also in walking distance is the historic Proctor district where they hold a farmers market every Saturday, the blue mouse theater, Knapps restaurant, Starbucks, metropolitan market, Safeway, Chalet bowl (12 lane bowling alley), a really neat toy store and clothing boutiques. Pointe Defiance Park and Ruston way is just a short drive from the house and recommend seeing if you plan on staying in the area.
Mark was there when we had arrived and helped us with getting in the house - we should have paid more attention to his instructions!
This is a beautiful self-contained slice of the house, very new, very well-cared for.
Neighborhood is so pretty! Views are gorgeous and the areas for dining and shopping are all within 4 minutes drive.
Our stay surpassed our expectations. The house provided first-class accomidations in an enchanting neighborhood; close to the wonder of Point Defiance and the delightful charm of Tacoma and University Place. Our host, Mark, was gracious and hospitable. Every moment of our stay was a treat, and the wrap around view was the icing on the cake.
Mark is a great host!
A vase of beautiful brightly colored sunflowers welcomed us, and the view is captivating. This place is an excellent value and we are presently surprised how affordable. The neighborhood is clean, quite, and very quaint. We are close to two grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and a park if you have children. We are looking forward to our return stay.
Thanks again Mark for your warm hospitality!
The description of the space and neighborhood were accurate, both are top notch excellent. I don't remember reading it was a duplex and the other half is where the owners live, so that might be something to tweak. The fact is the family was very quiet during our visit and we barely could tell they were there. When I did meet them by knocking on their door, they were a delightful bunch. the proximity to the waterfront and restaurants on Ruston Way were great, and yet you're just a few minutes drive to downtown. I look forward to another stay at this delightful space.
This place was like a dream vacation spot while working in Tacoma for the week. The views from the balcony, the fireplace, the kitchen the bathrooms. Everything was perfect and what was needed for us. Thank you so much!
About the Host, Mark
Deb and I love family, friends, entertaining, wine, food, traveling & Washington State University Cougars! Go Cougs:) Our family consists of two great active boys ages 5 & 7. In the nature of full disclosure our house at times can be a neighborhood hub filled with kids/neighbors, BBQ's and pop by's from friends or family. We entertain frequently however we also will respect our guests privacy.
For as long as I can remember growing up we had guests staying in our family home. Our guests ranged from students abroad to friends needing a place to stay. Growing up in my families household the dinner table was used as a playground whether it was for a drink, a smoke, a debate or simply dinner.
Our favorite places to travel are Napa Valley and Maui! We are a very active family always on the go...
