The Stone’s Throw Cottage is a historic home in the beautiful Sierra foothills. Built in the 1940’s by a local stonemason, Stone’s Throw Cottage was renovated in 2018/2019. Located just outside the Auburn city limits, it's in a semi-rural area, but only 5 mins to historic Auburn. Situated on 1/2 acre, it’s quiet, private & charming. Close to hiking, the wine trail, craft breweries, dining, galleries and coffee shops, this is a peaceful retreat or home base to explore everything our area offers.

The Stone’s Throw Cottage is your home away from home. This historic stone is one of 7 in the neighborhood. The cottage features two bedrooms (one en suite) two full bathrooms, a full kitchen and combination living/dining room. The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer. The driveway can accommodate two vehicles. Enjoy the decks and outdoor seating in the back yard, or wander through the cottage garden. The half acre yard is yours to enjoy. The main bedroom includes a queen sized bed, sitting area, and a combination en suite bathroom (with shower and heated floor) and closet. The second bedroom (which is across the house, down 4 stairs and a hallway from the main bedroom) has two twin beds, a small closet, and direct access to the main bathroom (tub/shower combo). The full kitchen includes a fridge, stove and dishwasher, along with all the necessary tools to whip up a delicious meal. The cottage includes wifi, heat and air conditioning.

Guest access
Guests may access the entire home and property.

Other things to note
The two bedrooms are across the house from each other. The primary bedroom is 5 steps down from the main living area, as is the laundry room. The "twin room" is off the living room/dining room, and separated from the primary bedroom by a hallway, 5 stairs, and the kitchen. For many people this is ideal, but for some people, it might be an issue.

Neighborhood highlights

Our semi-rural neighborhood is a hidden gem in the Auburn area. Just a mile or two to services (gas, grocery, restaurants, breweries, shopping, wineries, trails) and only 5 minutes to downtown Auburn, this is a neighborhood where neighbors are friends, and we care about our properties. It's a great home base for exploring the Auburn area, trails, galleries, breweries, wine trail, river, etc. Just a stone's throw to Truckee (60 minutes), Tahoe (about 80 minutes), Sacramento (35 minutes), San Francisco (2 hours) or Napa (about 90 minutes) this is the perfect home base to explore all that beautiful northern California has to offer. Auburn itself has great restaurants, world class wineries and breweries, wonderful shopping, galleries, and oodles of outdoor and adventure sports. We're known as the 'Endurance Capital of the World' with many elite (and non elite!) races that start and/or end here. Auburn has a little something to interest just about everyone!
