  • I'm in NY monthly for work, and have stayed in quite a few airbnb's over the past year. Brian's is one of my favs. It's clean and has a proper kitchen and bathroom. It also comes stocked with all the essentials - like a Super Nintendo!

My only advice is to turn the A/C on in the bedroom. The apartment is fairly warm, but cools quickly.

  • I would not hesitate in recommending Brian's apartment! My husband and I spent over a month there during a trip from our home in Australia.

The apartment itself has all the amenities one would need, and unlike a studio, there is privacy between the bedroom and lounge room which we greatly appreciated. The bed was super comfortable and being able to come home and has access to a kitchen was excellent, particularly during a long stay.

The location is perfect for exploring downtown and Brooklyn, with easy access to a number of subways to take you uptown. The street the apartment is on has a number of restaurants and bars so you don't have to go too far to enjoy a night out (which was good as we visited during the cold weather).

This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't have hoped for a better host than Brian, he was super quick to respond to my emails, provided excellent information in the apartment and was very friendly. Thank you!

  • I had a great stay at this place. The apartment was clean and had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. It felt very secure and during the night was surprisingly quiet. The apartment is in a great spot where I was very close to great food places and shops, and because it is central I could easily walk to other areas like West Village too. Brian was a great host and happy to help anytime. I would happily stay there again.

  • I had a great stay at Brian's place. I spent more than a month there and had an amazing time in the city. The location of the apartment is perfect ! You are close to everything and getting up on a sunny day to walk around the neighborhood seeking for a nice brunch is just a great treat.
The apartment really quickly feels like a "home" and is perfect if you want to feel like living the city and not being the average tourist :)
Brian is really responsive and will take good care of you. I'd recommend this place to any of my friend/family. I'm already missing it !

  • LOVE at first sight! Brian's apartment is remarkable, located in a fantastic neighbourhood. It's absolutely bursting with personality and it is spacious by NYC standards. My travel partner and I totally approved of Brian's books, movies, choice of decor, interior design, the bed was amazing and we slept like logs, and... We basically loved the apartment, didn't find a single thing wrong with it! It's in walking distance between several train lines (Q I think, 6 line on Spring) and also very accessible to the SoHo shopping district. It's a safe and quiet neighbourhood, with SO MANY options for great eateries in the immediate vicinity. Brian was also easily accessible and communicative in regards to checking in and check out. Definitely short listing Brian's apartment for all my future NYC visits. Thank you so much!

  • We had a great stay in this apartment, It was so convenient to everything we wanted. Although small, the apartment was incredibly clean, which is important to us. It also had all the things we were looking for except perhaps a means of making coffee,
Communication beforehand was excellent, and despite our very early morning arrival, picking up the key was no drama. Brian provided us with advice as to the best means of moving between the airport and the city and around the city. His advice was invaluable,
We did have problems accessing wifi but Brian . was in constant communication with us and did resolve the problem to our satisfaction. We loved the flowers and the pastries.

  • Location of the apartment was great. Close to the metro and near good shopping and restaurants. The WiFi wasn't working when we were there so doing some last minute planning was a bit difficult - we probably racked up quite a bill using our cellphones to get online. Brian responded to questions quickly which was really helpful. Would stay here again if we were to go back to NYC.

    Response from Brian:

Wifi is back up and running as of June 15th. My sincerest apologies to those guests who had to suffer without it!

  • Lovely little apartment, just as cute as the photos show it. Nice and clean, with lots of character. Brian was very prompt in his communications and easily contactable during our stay. We knew what to expect, and Brian left a little note with some local places to visit, which was helpful. The immediate neighbourhood is a great culinary experience, nestled between Little Italy and China Town. We loved the location for seeing a gig around the corner at the Bowery Ballroom one night, and walking into Brooklyn via the Brooklyn Bridge, which is a short distance. The apartment is certainly very cosy, and quite small. Was ok for just one or two people for a short time, as we often weren´t in the apartment. The Wifi wasn´t available during our stay, however Brian communicated this to us prior to our stay and there is a pub on the same street with free wifi, so no problem really. SUPER comfortable bed, and felt very safe in the building and the neighbourhood. Was a lovely experience, would certainly recommend it to others.

  • Nice clean apartment, was like described by Brian. He was also helpful when needed, replied promptly. The area was pleasant with lots of restaurants and bars and close to good shopping. Only a few minutes walk to subway stations. WiFi needs improvement. But I guess that was bad luck since the person Brian shares WiFi with was away and could not restart it.

  • It was a great stay at Brian's apartment and everything was just as he described! For a single or couple the apartment size is fine. The water pressure in the shower is strong, great to wash off that New York grit after a day of walking around!
The area is awash with restaurants and bars and it's a 5 minute walk to the 6 (email hidden) and the subway at Grand Street. Super-easy to get around the city from here.
As others have noted, there's no elevator and the stairs are a little narrow and warped, so if you have trouble with staircases, keep that in mind.
The apartment is in an old building, but the unit itself is very clean. It was a pleasant surprise to have beverages to enjoy in the refrigerator, and he left notes highlighting things in the area to check out as well.
He is right about his bed. It is damn comfortable.
