La Grangette is a picturesque holiday home with discreet charm, combining comfort and authenticity ...
The place is cozy and welcoming.
We find the simple pleasure and the sweetness of life ...

The space

The stone house is composed of:

Ground floor: large living room, bedroom (double bed), bathroom (with shower), WC, fully equipped kitchen, electric heating.

First floor: kitchen, living room with wood stove, large terrace with table, chairs, and barbecue.

Second floor : one room with a double bed, a second room with a single bed (with extra mattress) restroom with toilet and sink.

The house was recently renovated and is completely furnished in a very cosy and rustic manner. Our guests will have access to wireless internet, comfortable bedding, washing machine, ironing board, oven, micro-wave oven, TV, beautiful kitchenware and many accessories (toaster, Senseo coffee machines, etc). Towels are at your disposal and the beds will be ready with fresh sheets at your arrival.

You will notice that we have purposefully chosen not to equip our kitchen with a dishwasher. In fact the dishwashing time, especially during the holidays, is the perfect time to share and chat... another way to live the southern kind of life...

We have prepared a complete file at the disposal of our guests which lists our favorite restaurants, trips, sports activities, vineyards, visits, historical sites, etc... all in the nearby region.

Discover the Haut Languedoc and the mediterranean coast, with the Caroux mountains and the Canal du Midi that meanders under the shadows of the plane trees.

Do not miss: the Canal du Midi, the Cathar castles, the neighboring villages such as Pezenas, Olargues, Minerve, Sète, Mèze, Gruissan, the Etang de Thau, etc.

By plane, either from Carcassonne or Montpellier airport, then 1 to 1h30 drive.
Easiest by car... to discover the surroundings.

All kinds of activities in the nearby surroundings: hiking, horse riding, cycling and mountain biking in the Haut Languedoc.

Kayak at the Orb, windsurfing or kite surfing at the Salagou lake.

9-hole golf course 10 km away.

Beaches in Agde, Sète, Portiragnes, Valras, Serignan, Vendres or Narbonne.

In the village: grocery store, butchery, bakery, post office, bookshop, snack and restaurant.

6, 10 or 15 km away: supermakets (Super U, Intermarché, etc) in Magalas, Bédarieux or Pezenas.

Our guests have Internet access and Wifi, very comfortable bedding, washing machine, ironing board, oven, microwave, TV, beautiful dishes and many accessories (toaster, Senseo coffee machine, ...)
Towels are provided free of charge for each guest, as well as bed linen.
You will notice that we voluntarily chose not to equip our house with dishwasher. Indeed, the moment of the dishes, especially during the holidays, is a moment of sharing and of gossip ... a way of living in slow motion ...

Interaction with guests

We have established a file available for our guests which explains our favorites restaurants, outings, excursions, sports activities, visits .... in the region.

When my mother and I arrived in Laurens (by bus) from Beziers, none of the locals could direct us to the house in the center of town, although we showed them the street name and number. Which isn't to say they didn't try - they sought out and unfolded their Laurens municipal maps. They put their lives (and kids) on hold to walk with us and try to pinpoint the whereabouts of the house. When we finally found the house - and were told that it was the best "maison" in town - our kind impromptu guides asked: "Why didn't you just say you were looking for the Maison de Yolande?" Their reaction says a lot about Laurens residents (exceedingly friendly) and about Yolande's maison - which really stands out, and is infused with Yolande's warm and generous personality, furnishings, art, and plants (including fig, olive, and apricot trees!) We spent a lazy, languorous week at La Grangette, much of it on the ample terrace overlooking the main square (where we seemingly ate and drank non-stop; it helps when you're facing an epicerie chock full of local delicacies including homegrown Faugeres wines, and a pizzeria serving some of the best pizza ever (not to mention Tartes aux vignerons; apple tarts glazed with local red wine). When we craved a more bucolic atmosphere, we headed out back to the field full of wild flowers, or worked up the stamina to follow the walking routes provided by Yolande, which led through landscapes of vineyards and rolling hills sprayed with bright flowers. Yolande provided more than maps. She provided every single item imaginable to ensure our comfort and enjoyment: quality bedding and towels, kitchen pots, pans and utensils galore, lamps, candles, folding chairs, lounging chairs... There was also a big book full of recommendations - for villages, vignobles, activities, restaurants - covering the entire region. In the end, although we (sadly) never met her in person, her presence was very felt. Truly a wonderful, restful, and relaxing stay in a uniquely singular and seductive house, town, and region. Before even boarding the bus back to Beziers, we were already feeling nostalgic.

We were met by Eva who showed us around the lovely La Grangette and gave us useful advice. La Grangette is very much a family home and we are privileged to stay. It was really convenient and very quiet. La Pie Si Rient and the Pizzeria are just over the square. It is all very comfortable and has everything you need including expresso machine. It certainly breaks the myth about French plumbing - it all works! Lots of tips in the guest book about places to visit / eat / walks ... View of the meadow at the back is beautiful. Thank you, Hugh & Jude

We had a wonderful time at La Grangette. We've spent 10 days there with our two kids and we all felt at home. The location as well as the house are a perfect base for excursions in Languedoc, for relaxing and for exploring the near surroundings. The house is very comfortable, clean and decorated with nice and lovely details. A special and pleasant experience beyond commercial accommodations. The communication with Yolande was great and she was very helpful. We can fully recommend her house and the location. Dear Yolande, we wish you and your family all the best, thanks again! We had a wonderful time in Laurens. The natural scenery in the region is very beautiful and perfect for hiking. The house is charming, very well-equipped and with a spacious balcony. It can get fairly cool in the evening, so remember to bring your house slippers. The village is small, quiet and with very little in the way of distractions or nightlife - exactly what we were looking for. For groceries, we drove to the large supermarket approx 6km away. There is small grocery shop opposite the house which can be useful for small purchases. It took us approx half an hour to drive to areas where we wanted to hike, e.g. les Gorges d'Heric. You most definitely need a car to get around here. Yolande has very kindly put together a folder with suggestions of activities in the region. We stuck to visiting the villages in the surrounding areas and only visited Beziers once. If the thought of doing very little other than hiking, cooking and reading sounds good, then this is the perfect place. The communication with Yolande before and during our stay was very thorough. She was very friendly and helpful. In her absence, Eva and Marie were able to assist and eager to answer any questions we had.

A warm and charming vintage stone house. Our host was gracious, as were the people who work with her. The only qualifier in recommending La Grangette is that if you are near six feet tall (or more) you'll have to be careful not to hit your head in low areas. If the host would put up some little overhead signs, that would be helpful. I did hit my head hard a couple of times when we first arrived. Perhaps the house is not ideal for a big/tall person.

Response from Yolande:
