Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests in the common rooms such as the kitchen and family room, but if you want privacy, you certainly can have it!
This is an elegant neighborhood featuring stunning, million-dollar homes behind gates. The roads wind like ribbons through wooded hills dotted by brick and stone homes and estates. Once behind the gates, you enter a quiet community with mature trees, manicured lawns and landscapes common areas.
There is very limited public transportation however, you can rent a bike for $25 dollars and take a spin around the neighborhood, or walk a couple of miles to the nearest gym, a Starbucks or Chick-Fil-A. Bring a car. That's best, or rent one. You can rent for as little as $12 per day at local auto rental facilities.
Other Things to Note
The view outside this room is beautiful. Two windows overlook a wooded back yard that is lined with stone patios, a stream that winds its way through the yard, and some fruit trees. Open the window and listen to the roar of the stream in the spring, listen to the birds sing, or observe the flowers bloom
Please turn off or quiet radios/music after 10 pm. Free Self-help coffee/tea bar. Each room includes a guest bath robe and fresh towels. Check in before 10 pm please otherwise the security guard will have to call the owner. If owner can't be reached, you may not gain access to the property.
The updated shared bathroom features two sinks, is well-lit, and sports granite counter-tops.
My husband, recently needed to go to Birmingham for his sister's wedding, and we were pleased to find Donna's place near by. His stay with Donna was just perfect. My husband's flight got in quite late and Donna had left the door open and the bedroom light on along with a welcoming note. Their schedules didn't allow them to meet in person, but the room was perfect and near all the areas he need to be. The space was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable.
Donna was a very gracious host, and she made me feel right at home during my stay. The location in a gated community is very nice, and she was very helpful in suggesting good places to dine in the area. The backyard is an amazing place to sit and unwind at the end of the day; it is everything in the pictures and description and more! I would recommend staying here to anyone that enjoys the feeling of coming home at the end of a long day!
Very nice neighborhood, I felt safe being alone in a new city. Spent the month in the finished basement apartment, 1bd/1ba, and had plenty of space to relax. Donna was easy to live with, and responded promptly to, and resolved, any issues.
I enjoyed meeting you and hosting you in my home. I also enjoyed meeting your mom. Don't you just love Airbnb? You can meet the most interesting people from all walks of life. Thanks for joining me for dinner. I trust you liked our small city, and welcome you back here anytime. All the best, Donna
Great property, location was perfect for my employment contract in Birmingham.
My stay here, was better than expected and Donna is wonderful host! Would definitely consider staying again in fall, if opportunity arose.
I wrote an entire novel about my delightful stay with Donna, but the Airbnb ap needs to be re-worked, however...
Donna is a supreme hostess; I know because I host. Highlights were soulfully and privately playing her baby grand piano, saki with Sandra Bullock's father John (by chance), and sushi with Donna covering life's mysteries. I don't endorse but, I defy, you, as a guest to experience a more fascinating 24 hrs (by chance) in her amazing home. Good luck.
This place is gorgeous. The house itself is at least 4500 sqare feet on an acre of grounds. The grounds off the back of the house have several sitting/reading areas, picture spots, and even a creek. The home is also in a gated neighborhood, so you will feel safe. Even though there are other rooms available, I never saw or heard any other guests.
Donna is your host. She is a very nice person and very welcoming. She has a plethora of coffees and teas available at all hours, and she even cooked me breakfast in the morning.
It was my good fortune, while working in Birmingham, to be able to stay with Donna for three weeks. It's a stunning home, beautifully decorated with contemporary and classic furnishings and warmed by family treasures. There are many areas in the house so you can be social or have solitude. You can have your coffee in the morning looking out of the floor to ceiling windows at the wooded back yard with foot paths, stepping stones and occasional areas to sit or recline. There is also a multi leveled deck with a hot tub, a fountain, a fire place, and eating areas. One sunny day, I read for hours outside in a chaise and listened to the stream. I spent an evening in the hot tub looking at the stars. Room "A" was quiet and charming with a really comfortable bed and very nice sheets.
Donna is gracious and welcoming and helpful. I was immediately comfortable as if we had been old friends. She enjoys people and we had a good deal of merriment when there were other guests. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. It was so nice to be reminded that there is no place like home.
