If you are looking for a beautifully designed, clean and modern apartment that’s surrounded by greenery, this is the place for you. This is your chance to escape at the end of a busy day to a peaceful haven with fresh air and amazing views of the Himalayan foothills

Located in Golfutar towards the northern edge of the Kathmandu Valley this sunny, south facing garden apartment is an oasis of calm, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but with everything just a short ride away.

The space
This beautifully appointed two bedroom garden apartment occupies the ground floor of our newly built Newari style house, but has its own private entrance and is completely self-contained.

The apartment is super light, sunny and naturally warm and furnished in a modern manner with handmade furniture from local artisans reflecting a fusion of western and Nepali styles. There is direct access to a well kept garden from the kitchen-diner and guests are more than welcome to spend time outside enjoying the peace, quiet and greenery.

The master bedroom with en suite toilet has views of Kopan Monestary. It is tastefully decorated and has a very comfortable queen size sprung mattress. The second bedroom is set up with twin beds and looks directly onto the garden. There is a light, spacious family bathroom with shower for the use of all guests.

A cosy sitting room with sunny garden views and a small study area with a desk set into an alcove, provides a perfect space to relax or work from home. Some games and books are provided for guests to use.

The modern style kitchen-diner is spotless and extremely well appointed, with all the necessary pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, fridge etc. Tea, coffee and some basics such as butter, oil, sugar, salt etc are provided and please feel free to help yourself to anything you find in the fridge. There are small local shops within a 2-5 minute walk, and supermarkets with a larger selection of goods just 10 minutes away by foot. There is also a delivery service www.foodmandu.com offering a huge selection of dishes from hundreds of restaurants across the city.

Towels, bed linens, shampoo etc are provided and for guests staying for more than a week, the apartment will be cleaned and bed linen/towels changed once per week. Personal laundry can be done for you for a small charge.

My husband Amrit and I live upstairs and we are currently running our trekking company (www.himalayanquests.com) and charitable foundation (www.hqfoundation.org.np) from home, so there are some comings and goings during business hours.

We have two naughty, nosey cats, Little Puss and Mistry who are more than likely to want to come and make friends. We ask that you try and keep them out of the appartment where possible and also that you don't feed them, no matter how much they try it on. They have plenty to eat upstairs!

This is a non smoking property.

Guest access
Guests have free run of the apartment, please consider it your home from home. This includes use of the terrace that leads from the kitchen and a well kept garden with a herb and small veg patch. Feel free to help yourself to the herbs and to help with the weeding should you so desire!

Other things to note
Power Supply:
Nepal is still subject to on and off power outages and fluctuations. The Garden Apartment has power back up via a battery and inverter, but it is designed only to run low voltage items such as light bulbs and for charging such things as mobile phones and lap tops.

Golfutar is a quiet, local residential area towards the northern edge of the Kathmandu Valley. It has everything you need for day to day living with most things available within a 10 minute walk.

Although tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Dada Ghar, Garden Apartment is only a 5 minute walk from the main north-south road into Kathmandu where buses and taxis are easily accessible, thus nowhere is very far away.

It is just 15 minutes south of the Shiva Puri National Park, which is great for hiking and mountain biking. Thamel, the main tourist area is a 20-30 minute bus ride away and Boudhanath, the Tibetan area and home to the largest Tibetan Stupa in south Asia outside of Tibet just 20 - 30 minutes away.
