About this listing
Good Moon Cottage is a traditional West Indian wooden cottage perched on top of a peaceful, secluded hill-side property.
The cottage is in the nestled in the trees on our organic farm and is surrounded by bananas, mangos, pau pau, herbs and tropical flowers. We offer a free herb garden and in-house prices on our produce. Or you can help out on the farm in exchange for fresh produce.
The Cottage is about 600 feet above the unspoiled north shore called Cooper Bay and a five minute drive (20 min walk) from Trunk Bay, one of Tortola's most spectacular and empty beaches.
Being centrally located, we are well situated for easy exploring of the West and East of Tortola. Being locals, we can easily advise you on quality excursions, daysails, hikes and unusual adventures. If you are surfers, local knowledge is readily available so we can send you to all the best surfing spots.
The accommodation is ideal for a young family, one or two couples or four friends! The open loft bedroom has a queen-sized bed and downstairs has a full size bed. A baby bed and extra floor mats are available. Sheets are included.
There is a small kitchen, refrigerator, toilet and shower with a view!
The balcony offers a hammock and you’ll enjoy eating outside on the outdoor dining table. A barbecue in the back yard completes your cooking experience.
There is also a DVD player and small stereo for your enjoyment.
And finally, if you need a car, we’re happy to help arrange a car rental for you.
Next to our Cottage you will be able to walk down the hill for almost 20 minutes to Trunk Bay the most amazing beach of the BVI, but the road is comfortable for driving your rental car if you wish.
We are surrounded by beautiful and rich fruit trees and being an organic farm we appreciate all the birds and insects living within our property. The area is very quiet and tranquil, although we do work on the farm everyday.
We do have cats living around the property that we suggest to be friendly enough with but not spoil with too much attention otherwise they might travel back with you!
Renting a car is a must in Tortola if you'd like to reach your destinations quickly enough, but Taxi drivers are available in every Port of Entry of the territory in case you feel adventurous or want to save some money. Everybody can catch a ride, it is very common on the island. Road Town is 10 minutes drive away from us and you will be able to find shops and supermarkets for your needs.
The beaches located on the north side of the island are all easy to approach by car and you will be able to find restaurants and bars almost anywhere.
We are in the Caribbean, so don't forget the casual and friendly approach of the local people when you are swimming in the sea or sunbathing on the beach.

This was quite possibly the most gorgeous place we've ever stayed! The location is remote with an incredible view of the ocean - photos are 100% accurate! Aragorn and Federica were wonderful hosts - they even invited us for dinner one night with their friends from the island. Definitely would recommend a 4x4 for staying here (our hosts recommended DeDe's Charters which was great and also note that driving is on the left side of the road on Tortola) - the roads are very steep and many roads to beaches are unpaved and super rocky. The farm is beautiful and the guest cottage is very private. The windows and doors don't have screens and there were some mosquitos when were were there as we left the windows and doors open for a nice breeze. The downstairs bed has a mosquito net which we used each night. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, knives, pots, and pans with the basics (oil, soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, and a few other spices). Very small frig so this is worth considering if you're going to pick up food from the grocery store on your way to the house, coffee maker with filters, toaster oven, and toaster. We didn't have any internet access - which suited us fine but might be a consideration for some. The view from the bathroom and shower of the ocean is incredible. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a refreshing alternative to a resort, with the privacy of your own cottage, and a tropical farm and surrounding jungle that can't be beat. Wish we were still there!
We had an amazing time at Good Moon. It's a special place, and it's hard to find anything else quite like it. The view is terrific and the peaceful sounds of the farm around you are soothing. You will have to hike a bit up and down to the cottage on a bit of dirt, grass and loose rock. It's a small challenge, and if you're a bit fragile take extra caution. I wouldn't recommend it for my grandmother or anyone who isn't of the condition to do any hiking (remember you will likely be doing it at night as well). There are some small LED lights guiding the path, but use your cell phone light at dark. Any more lighting though on the farm and it would feel a bit less secluded and private, so I'm glad there's not too much lighting. The cottage is perfect in many ways. The hammock was a highlight for us. The attention to design and detail make the exterior of the cabin great: the yellow and green paint, the orange glow of the lights escaping the hand-made gourd shades, and the patterned trim going along the outside of the deck. And there's more inside: the pattern that trims the deck appears again on the headboard upstairs, Aragorn's Caribbean-themed lithographs, the wood used inside and out, a simple oar used as a clothes hanger - all so well done. It's not luxury villa though, and so long as you have the mentality that it's a bit of an adventure, you'll do great. There aren't screens on the windows and you'll probably have a cat visitor or two - they're great and entertaining. You'll likely have to ward off some mosquitos at dusk and such, but the fans will help some and there's a mosquito net on the downstairs bed if you are particularly bothered. The stairs to the open loft are perhaps more of a ladder (with a beautifully crafted wood railing), so just use your common sense going up and down with care. It's charming upstairs though and the semi-circle window looks particularly neat at night. The cottage has great proximity to arguably one of the best and most secluded beaches on Tortola. It's free of vendors, restrooms and likely other people, but a bit of a challenge to get to (though worth it). We didn't rent a car and took very expensive taxis around town. The roads are definitely treacherous, so if you're using a taxi try to find a newer one as navigating the hills is a bit scary to begin with, and scarier when you're in a 1987 Mitsubishi van with no seatbelts. Finally, Federica and Aragorn couldn't have been kinder. Their farm and Aragorn's Art studio makes them pretty well known as people on the island and locals only had the nicest things to say. As long as you know what you're getting in a secluded farm on a beautiful part of the island, you'll be thrilled with where...
The Good Moon Cottage is an amazing place to stay. The view is exquisite, the kitchen well appointed and there's easy access to fresh organic produce from the farm. Federica was really helpful when we needed anything, but gave us complete privacy as well. We didn't rent a car while we were there and so we hitched rides to go to the Sage Mountain preserve, which gave us the opportunity to meet some of the local people. Trunk Bay is the nearby beach and it's well worth the walk. Beautiful island, beautiful cottage.
We chose Good Moon Cottage because we like a healthy lifestyle and clean organic food. We walked down the hill to the cottage where we were warmly greeted by Frederica. The cottage was beyond our dreams! Huge wrap around covered porch with an eating area and hammock all overlooking the ocean. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking her delicious fresh vegetables. The rooms were all open air and the breezes blew in at night. Surrounding the cottage were gorgeous tropical plants and lush greenery. It was like being in Shangri La!
The cottage and the main house were decorated with beautiful artwork by Aragorn. We visited his studio in Trellis Bay. It is not to be missed.
This was definitely one of the best places we've ever stayed and we highly recommend it to other travelers. Thank you, Frederica and Aragorn for a most unforgettable visit to Tortola!
Good Moon cottage is a fantastic place to chill out. The hosts have created a very unique place in the middle of their farm. There is a secluded beach down the hill and you can fall asleep with the sound of the ocean. Thank you Aragorn and Federica!
The place is relaxing and comfortable and the view is breath-taking. we really had a wonderful vacation here.
We had a great time at the Good Moon Farm. The cottage is lovely, clean, well equipped and secluded. The view is a breath taking postcard.
The communication was quick and fluid, Federica is a lovely host.
If you like cats you can smuggle some indoor, there are plenty of them and a few that are more than happy to keep you company.
It's a bit of a walk down to the cottage and you'll definitely get more out of your stay if you rent an SUV and can explore the whole island and its steep roads. Trunk Bay is a must see. We hope to be back.
