*****Neighborhood*****

Frequently called, "The Berkeley of the East' Takoma Park DC is a unique enclave with an interesting history (Victorian gentry, abolitionists, socialists, 7th Day Adventists, spiritualists, anti-nukes and hippies), has a village vibe and is more bohemian than the rest of Washington. Many writers, artists & photographers, potters & jewelry designers, musicians singers & dancers and those working in the healing arts reside in our little hamlet.

Within easy walking distance is Takoma's Old Town (business-dining-shopping). Places to visit include Cedar Crossing Tavern & Wine Bar, Mark's Kitchen, Olive Lounge, Middle Eastern Restaurant, Roscoe's, Capital Cheesecake, Souper Girl, Now and Then, House of Musical Traditions, Year Round Sunday Farmer's Market, Willow Street Yoga, the Dance Exchange and more.

I look forward to making your Washington holiday, business trip or relocation a happy and positive experience. If you have any questions, or concerns please send an e-mail for a quick response.

Thanks!

Ellen is very generous, hospitable & considerate of her guests. The living quarters she provides match & even exceed what is described in her description & in the comments of her former guests. She is very knowledgeable & proud of the DC area & willing to share it's sites, resources & touring information. We enjoyed staying with her & being the recipients of her kind hospitality. Thank you Ellen! Sterling & Ilene

ellen was an amazing host! she was easily accessible, very accommodating, and immensely helpful throughout my 1-month stay. on my first day, she gave me a tour of the area and great advice on what to do and see in DC. felt like i was staying with someone who i had known for years! for AIRP people: the total commute to AFI Silver Theater is about 30 min (20 walk + 5 metro + 5 walk). "downtown" takoma is about a 15 min walk away and has several food options and places to sit and get some work/studying done.

Ellen is a fantastic host. My fiancee and I spent a wonderful month commuting in to Silver Spring for AIRP and enjoying DC. VeryVery pleasant 2.5 mile walk to Silver Spring and a short 30 min drive to the Penn Quarter, even with traffic. I would gladly stay here again.

Ellen is the perfect host! This was an excellent option for me while I worked in the area for a few months. She makes you feel so welcome in her home. I wish my job wouldn't have ended early, so I could have stayed longer.

Ellen's house is located within a quite residential neighborhood perfect to relax after a hectic day in the city, yet is so close to Silver spring AFI theater where my AIRP course was, as well as the down town. I used to walk to the metro station which takes about 15min. Bus station is by the corner, you can take F1 bus to the metro station in 6min. The house is quite, clean and teddy. My room was more than enough for me. Private clean bathroom. You can get all the utilities you need like wifi, laundry, iron.. Etc. Ellen is so welcoming friendly easy going person, from the fist day she introduced me to the area and showed me the possible routes from the house to my work place.
