Casa Pargo is located on a hillside overlooking a lush green valley, surrounded by jungle, mountains, monkey's and the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean.
We are perfectly located for all of your vacation needs and a car is not really necessary. We are visited daily by 2 types of monkey's, iguanas and all types of beautiful birds. You can sit on your private balcony, or join other guests poolside and watch a gorgeous red sun settle into the Pacific ocean for the night. All of this and we are only a 5 minute walk to the marina, with it's 2 world famous restaurants, or a 10 minute walk to Quepos, where you can find everything you might need, banks, restaurants, gift shops, clothing stores, bakeries, live music, fruit stands, grocery stores and so much more. From Quepos it is only a 10 minute taxi, or bus ride to the Manuel Antonio national park and our lovely beaches.
All 5 apartments are completely furnished, with air conditioning and full kitchens. We have 4 one bedroom units and 1 two bedroom unit. Prices range from $50 a night for El Ranco, our over sized efficiency, to $110 a night for La Vista, our 2 bedroom apartment. Our 10 day stay at Casa Pargo was transcendent. Marta is as warm, honest and knowledgeable a resource as you can find. She recommended great local restaurants (Soda Sanchez) and also a wonderful Manuel Antonio tour guide, Henry. She helps to coordinate excursions, will provide maps, and more. My boyfriend and I split our stay in two rooms...the Jungle Villa (3 nights) and the Monkey Suite (6 nights). The Jungle Villa was bigger and quieter although you can still hear monkeys, roosters and local dogs. The Jungle Villa also stayed darker in the early mornings. Speaking of monkeys... we loved watching the white-faced capuchin monkeys from the window. Both rooms have a deck which were great to catch the sunset. The tap water was fine to drink for us. The rancho is delightful and pool is small but clean and a perfect reward for walking up the hill. About the hill ... yes, it is steep but the rough asphalt gives you a good grip even in sandals. Even as a reasonably fit couple we'll humbly admit we had to pause and catch our breath a couple times! There's a worthwhile short cut that Marta will point out and the only slight drawback is that the nearby runoff water is sometimes a bit pungent. The kitchen had everything except for a machete. But you can still open green coconuts with a knife and a YouTube video. Marta recommended stocking up at the Friday night/Saturday open market, which was great. There's also a grocery store in Quepos but you'll want to take a $3-$4 cab ride back considering the heat and hill. It's a small town and most taxis know where Casa Pargo is located. Marta also provides a wallet-sized card with Casa Pargo's address and contact information, which was helpful on the one occasion that our cab driver wasn't familiar with the location. The bathroom had soap, toilet paper and towels. The room was kept very clean by Marta's staff. A/C was a must and worked fine. Internet was ok. Fresh towels and tidying every other delay. Ants will show up if you drop the smallest piece of food, so we ate either carefully or on the deck. The town of Quepos felt very safe for a single female to walk, although we're early birds and weren't wandering about late at night. The bus to Manuel Antonio National Park and beaches is very easy to access and very reasonably priced, approx. $0.60 per person one-way. We learned to hit the beach in the late afternoon and s(website hidden)ring sunset when the temps were coolest and the sun not quite as strong. Also, we never once needed bug spray. Breezes and the dry season seems to keep biting things at bay. For both of us Marta's house was the best place we could have hoped for and we highly recommend the house for travelers. You can really embed yourself in the community quickly here and get a sense of the town,...
Nothing short of amazing! We had a million dollar view of the ocean each day (breath taking sunsets!) monkeys and abundant other wildlife and the very best hosts ever!
Douglas and Marta welcomed us warmly and really made our stay top knotch. With daily villa clean up and various tour suggestions, we truly were on vacation frim the second we arrived!
As a travel blogger, I take my vacations very seriously as it is part of my job to review and pass on suggestions to my readers. Casa Pargo met every need we had and more! After long (and very successful) days of fishing, it was fantastic ti come back each night to great conversation and even a dip in the pool!
Centrally located minutes to Quepos and La Pez Marina, this vacation rental had it all! We took advantage of the suggested tours by Marta and were never disappointed. As a tico (local) she had all the knowledge of the area and beat of everything.
As an added bonus, we took suggestions on local eateries (Club Banana's being one) and really enjoyed the local fare. Great food, big portions and fanatic prices!
All in all, a very enthusiastic thumbs up and we are already planning to revisit or new friends Douglas and Marta again in November :D
Thank you si much Douglas and Marta Pura Vida!
Had such a wonderful stay with Marta, Douglas, staff and guest ! They took such great care of me! I will defiantly be going back! Thanks again!
Great location near to Quepos. Martha show what to do and good place in the city for restaurant. Beautiful sunset.
Marta was very helpful to show us the short cut to Town and told us about the vendor's market. She drove us to Quepos, helped with the banking, groceries and recommendations for places to eat.
We stayed in the Studio for 3 nights. The Studio was rustic with a million dollar view with lots of flowering bushes attracting many song birds. The monkeys came a few times. My husband liked it here so much we stayed a few more nights in 2 other places, La Casita and La Vista. La Casita is my favourite with 2 banjos and very bright. if you come to with another couple then the La Vista is for you with a large front porch.
The experience my friend and I had at Marta and Doug's was amazing. The place is located right next to the center part of Quepos, right next to all the restaurants, markets, bars and the bus station. Marta and Doug, as well as Marta's sister were extremely helpful in telling us how to get places, where to go etc. The view from the rooms are also amazing. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend it.

I have a very outgoing personality and love to dance, cook and laugh. I enjoy meeting and helping people. I love to travel throughout my country and other countries as well. My husband Douglas and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Bianca 23 and Sandy 18. Both girls attend the university in San Jose. Both Douglas and I were born and raised in Quepos and we think that with all of the lovely areas in Costa Rica, that the Quepos/Manuel Antonio are is the most beautiful.
I like to dance and cook as well. Although I am not as outgoing as my wife, I do enjoy meeting other people. I have worked for the national electric company "ICE for 27 years as a maintenance supervisor. I like to travel and enjoy seeing other areas of our beautiful country. We slowly built on our property over the years and enjoy sharing it with others. Now with the pool and rancho completed I think we are finally finished.
