We had a great stay at paul's place. We felt at home really fast. The location is really good - walking distance to subway and bus. the place is a really nice Victorian house. Paul is a perfect host and helped us where ever he could. even called us a cab at 4am in the morning. when we arrived he ordered us pizza on his name. the place was clean and cozy. With the sub you are in 25 minutes in Manhattan highly recommend this place .
Paul welcomed us in to his house and the apartment was great. The area wasn't the nicest part of Brooklyn but we had no problems and it was easy to get to Downtown
Paul was very accommodating before and during our stay. When he learned there would be six of us, he gave us a bigger space in his building that happened to be available during the weekend we were going to NYC. Even though he was overseas when we arrived, he texted us several times during our stay to make sure we were OK and enjoying the space. The apartment was gorgeous with lots of beautiful woodwork and high ceilings - a true gem! It was an easy commute into Manhattan on the J train, which was just a short walk away. We enjoyed going to the neighborhood delis for coffee and breakfast, and our three kids loved walking around in the neighborhood, which provided a real authentic NYC/Brooklyn feel. I'd highly recommend working with Paul!
We had a fantastic stay in this apartment. It's a really nice building and a great space to live in. Paul was really helpful and friendly and gave us good advice about the local area and NYC in general. The location is good for getting round Brooklyn and into Manhattan.
I got to say this was a great, comfortable experience. The area and space was fantastic and Paul was attentive to my concerns and needs. Place was spotless and organized very well, Felt like a home away from home.
The house was a beautiful old mansion decorated with antiques and leather couches. We stayed up to the 3rd floor secretly overlooking the funny and sometimes strange happenings on the street corner. Big rooms, very spacious, clean and lockable. The street is perfect if you want to have a real Brooklyn experience. There was some people staying on lvl2 but we never bumped into them or heard them (unlike some houses with paper thin walls).
There is a nice Deli just down the road and make sure you try the new jerk chicken jamaican restaurant across the road. When they ask if you want gravy say YES.
Transports were really close. Subway is 5 minutes walk and there is a bus downstairs that takes you to Williamsburg.
Paul was a great host, really helpful and nice and gave us an interesting history lesson of the area.
The only downsides of the place: We had some problems with the wifi which wasn't working at times, although Paul kindly tried to fix it and also we are vampires so we had to cover one of the windows with a sheet, otherwise it would have been too bright in the morning.
We highly recommend this place!!
Had a great stay. Clean And Airy. Felt just like home. Will definitely be booking with Paul next year. Thanks again for the hospitality.
The upside of this apartment is the amount of space we had, the decor was really lovely, the apartment was clean and comfortable. The aircon was a welcome relief to have as we stayed in the summer. To me the apartment felt really luxurious once you were inside. The only downfall is the commute into the city....but to be fair, we never took the train which would have surely made it quicker. The information Paul left for us regarding cabs and restaurants was super handy and he also helped us promptly resolve any problems we had. There are a few convenience stores around but as far as nice places to eat the suburb is lacking in that. Overall, the apartment was super spacious, really comfortable and was great for a long stay. I'm glad we stayed there; thanks Paul!
The apartment is quiet, clean and 5 minutes walk from the subway station. 30 minutes away if you go to Manhattan and 40 minutes distance to JFK if you are using the subway. Super comfortable for 4 people. Paul the host is super attentive and friendly. Even he let us use the first floor to save part of our belongings. Despite not having internet service most of our stay on the third floor he did everything possible to make it work. Very safe and friendly neighborhood.
Let us start by saying the ONLY reason we did not give this experience 5 stars is because at this point in time, and things are changing so fast, this particular part of Brooklyn/ Bed-Stuy is a little low on amenities. Yes there is a grocery store, but I like my urban experiences to have good coffee and yummy snacks within a two block radius. Maybe it's because we were travelling with kids and like things close and easy, but in any case that is my ONLY reservation.
Paul was an outstanding host. Prepared, accomodating, and generous with his time and resources: he even tried to get us out of a parking ticket! (totally our fault), and came through with extra wine glasses when we had a massive dinner party. He was genuinely concerned that we had what we needed and every interaction with him was warm and enjoyable.
The house is gorgeous. Radiant heat floors in the beautiful bathrooms, luxuriant decor - Paul has clearly poured his love into this house. It's a very special property and we felt lucky to call it home for the few days we were there.
I would highly recommend Paul as a host, and this location to anyone.
We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
