Terra delle Sidhe is a small organic farm located in southern Tuscany overlooking a beautiful valley located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, between the medieval towns of Castel del Piano and Seggiano.
The landscape has the peculiarity of a typical natural forest and the diversified productivity typical of organic farms.
The estate is spread over three acres of chestnut trees, IGP marroniAmiata, a precious olive variety of DOP Olivastra Seggianese and cherry trees over a hundred years old.
A rich variety of fruit trees, medicinal plants, a biodynamic garden, chestnut flour, extra virgin olive oil, natural soaps, delicious teas and jams complete the range of organic products produced on our farm.
Possibility to participate and get involved during our chestnuts and olive's harvest
Practically no houses around…the property is in the middle of nature and the few neighbors are quiet and calm, nice people, most of them foreigners respectful with nature and the beauty of the place
You need a car to get the closer town, Castel del Piano or Seggiano, around 3 km far from the house or if possible also go by bicycle or by walk if you like to do some sport
Other Things to Note
Our website if you want to visit:
We also rent a double room in a beautiful wood house next to the principal house, independent with a private bathroom
And also a nice tipi of 5 meters of diameter situated in the heart of the chestnuts forest where two people can stay and have a real experience in nature
We don't smoke, so if you smoke we prefer if you do outside not in the house
Luisa was an extremely friendly and welcoming host. She went out of her way to give us information about things to do and places to go.
We stayed in the wooden house, which beautiful and has everything you need.
This is a perfect place for nature and animal lovers. You surrounded by stunning countryside and a number of idyllic Tuscan towns.
(I would advise getting a small rental car for the drive up to the house - though we did manage in a big volvo, but it could have been easier.)
Thank you Luisa!
Our stay was nothing short of magical. We were there in winter and the cottage is fully equipped with 2 fire stoves that gave us that cosy country experience we were looking for. The house and garden are more sweetly and artfully decorated than the pictures reveal. You couldn't ask for a more friendly, gracious, and attentive host as Luisa: she brought us fresh eggs, some of her delicious homemade cake, and even some of her own lavender harvest. The property and the surroundings full of chestnut and olive trees, green moss, cypress, almond and cherry trees... We couldn't get enough our relaxing walks through the fields and down to the river. The area feels secluded and yet near wonderful villages where we could find anything we needed... Nearby Val d'Orcia is just stunning, with Montalcino, Sienna, etc. We can't wait to visit in spring-time and catch up with Luisa and pets!
We had a fantastic time at Chestnut Cottage. Luisa is extremely kind and welcoming. She was particularly generous to our two small daughters. The house is just as shown; beautiful, Tuscan rustic, comfortable, well equipped, clean, off the beaten path and so quiet but close to Castel del Piano and Seggiano which offer facilities needed. Luisa helped us plan day trips and was quick and efficient at dealing with our requests once on site. The Cottage itself is beautiful and very well restored and furnished. This is a hidden gem and one worth a visit.
