Built in 1919, Rosslyn is one of Nairobi's oldest and most special surviving homes. Set in 2 acres of private gardens we are close to UN, Village Market and Westlands. We have 2 singles, 1 double & 1 bathroom with separate listings on airbnb

The space

Rosslyn is one of the oldest character homes in Nairobi and it has been our family home for more than 50 years.

We offer bed and breakfast in a small but cosy single bedroom, 'Amanda's Room', in our historic home.

Across the pretty courtyard with water feature is shared bathroom (only if we have other guests or family) with original claw foot bath and hand held shower and toilet and basin.

Full English breakfast is a house specialty, fresh fruit, tea or freshly brewed fine Kenya coffee, cooked breakfast with our own free range eggs, toast, marmalades, muesli/oats/porridge are all available. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know at time of booking.

Rosslyn was used as the home and garden of 'The Constant Gardener' 2005 drama thriller film starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz who won an Oscar for her role.

Bruce is an exceptional host and his mother, Sonia, is so kind. This is a very lovely property and I would love to stay here again the next time I am in Nairobi. The back porch and Amanda's room are a little spotty on wifi, but that's sometimes to be expected. I loved having breakfast and otherwise working on the back porch. The pictures don't do this place justice! It is just magical. And Bruce invited me to have dinner (I ordered a yummy pizza for delivery) with him and Sonia on my last night. All in all, a wonderful experience and the pets always make things seem even more like home. Thank you Bruce and Sonia!

The house was lovely. It was filled with the most beautiful art pieces, and well tended gardens with flowers and plants. Bruce was also a fine host who took time to show me where everything was. A truly beautiful place to stay in while in Nairobi and would recommend it to anyone!

Second time around still feels like home away from home. Comfortable home surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens makes you forget you're in the middle of a huge city. Bernard spoils you with a lovely breakfast on the veranda, and Sonia, Amanda, and Elizabeth are wonderful hosts. I'll keep visiting as long as they'll have me.

I had the privilege to stay at this beautiful home, filled with character, history, books, friendly dogs, beautiful gardens, relaxing verandas, and a cozy bedroom. The crown jewel is Sonia, my hostess, and who's company I enjoyed thoroughly. She was very caring and I felt so lucky to share evening conversations with her. I will never stay anywhere else in Nairobi. Her staff Charles and Bernard were stars. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Bruce was the perfect host at his charming home. Such a beautiful place--wish I could have stayed longer. He shared wonderful history of the home as we enjoyed a perfect breakfast on the veranda. I will definitely stay here again!!!

Staying at Rosslyn was an absolute pleasure. I was greeted by Bruce's mum, Sonia and we shared tea on the verandah as she explained in such delightful detail the history of Rosslyn. The listing is exactly as described. Breakfast is lovely as well as the grounds. My room was cosy, and as with the rest of the house included a vast array of books to peruse and read from. Bruce was so helpful before and during my stay. We had a brillant walk in Karura forest with some of his dogs and terrific chats by the fire at night. I would absolutely stay again and highly recommend others to experience a stay here. Magnificent host and an equally magnificent place to call home while in Nairobi.
