About this listing
Abbeywood House provides comfort and atmosphere at the right price. 5 mins walk to town centre. Off street parking. Landscaped grounds . Choice of Double/Twin/Triple or Four bed rooms all with views over Croagh Patrick. www(URL HIDDEN)
Abbeywood was originally an old monastery and retains many of the original features such as stained glass windows and parquet floors throughout. Although only 5 mins walk to the town centre it is set back off the road in its own private grounds with plenty of off street parking. South westerly facing it is in an ideal location to relax outside with a glass of wine and watch the sunset over Croagh Patrick (cannot guarantee the weather however!). All our rooms have views over Croagh Patrick, we can offer a Double, Twin, Triple or Four bed room. Bed linen and towels are supplied and although not en-suite, all rooms have their own wash hand basin. Families are very welcome, the outside areas being particularly popular with lawns, swingball, boules, etc
There is free Wifi throughout the building. A sitting room with books/board games/guitars is available for guests to relax in. A light continental breakfast with freshly brewed coffee will also be available here each morning. All guests are welcome to make use of the sitting room and gardens within the designated hours.
Interaction with Guests
I'd be delighted to give guests the low down on the area and direct them towards places of interest, local events, best pubs etc for their tastes. We have a very informal atmosphere here and make every effort to ensure our guests enjoy their stay.
Where to start with Westport, it has it all. One of the most popular attractions is the Greenway (2 mins from Abbeywood) an off road cycle/walking path that runs all the way to Achill. Bike hire is available locally including trailers and attachments for young children. A close second is climbing Croagh Patrick only 8km away. All types of water sports are available along with zorbing and other adventure activities at Westport House. If you feel like a little less activity you could take a stroll on one of the many Blue Flag beaches or pass the day in town which has any number of picturesque pubs, cafes and small independent shops. It's easy to see why it was voted the best place to live in Ireland
Westport can be reached by bus or train. There are public buses that go out past Croagh Patrick. Cycling has become increasingly popular now also with a number of cycle hire places available.
Abbeywood is a no smoking house. There are no pets allowed. We have a code on the back door, changed regularly, which is given to guests on arrival enabling them to come and go as they please. If you are arriving home late we ask that you keep noise to a minimum out of respect to other guests staying.
