I prefer guests that want to explore, and go see the island in a way that few visitors are able to. If you want to adventure with a tour guide that knows the island intimately, look no further.
Full kitchen with windows on three sides. Watch the sun set on the ocean while cooking, if you like.
Private room, separate bathroom, and parking as safe as it gets, in a private neighborhood. Ocean sunset view overlooking 10 miles of shoreline. 12 minutes to the airport and only 7 minutes to town, shopping, restaurants, and beaches. At 1000th elevation it's perfect temperature day and night. Birds sing at sunrise and sunset and the neighborhood is quiet all day long.
Full kitchen complete with juicer, blender, coffee maker, panini grill, and steamer/rice cooker. High speed internet, Wi-Fi, and basic cable. 2nd floor lanai(patio/porch/deck) with an expansive view, comfortable seating, and a BBQ grill. Guests have full use of all appliances and are asked to clean up any messes after use.
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy all kinds of company. Let's go surfing one day at a nearby spot and check out town. Take a couple day out of Kona and hike through the rain forest to see the lava. I love playing tour guide as it gets me out doing the things I love. Waipi'o waterfalls, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, hikes to remote, unoccupied beaches. Positive, adventurous attitudes are a must to keep up with me. You tell me what you'd like to do and I'll cover the logistics and tailor fit an exciting and spectacular vacation.
We should discuss your vacation plans well in advance, as I am employed full time on top of my other businesses, and I would need a bit of forewarning to accommodate any desires for extensive sightseeing or adventuring.
I must have several weeks notice, as I am required to request time off no less than 18 days in advance.
Also, compensation is a must for me to pass up viable income, in order to play tour guide.
Rates vary according to desired itinerary.
Also, I'm in the habit of making juice every morning, however, guest are in charge of making their breakfast, unless arrangements are made. I keep the price low by not over-extending myself and am not expected to serve guests. Providing comfortable accommodations at a great price is what can be expected.
Location, privacy, and comfort are the highlights of this spot I call home. Close to everything, yet secluded in a nice spacious neighborhood. Newer home, tile and wood floors, with a view of several beaches and surf spots.
I'll cover the transportation, you cover fuel. I own two reliable 4WD vehicles and will drive us where ever you like. Also, Hele-On Bus is inexpensive and has island wide routes. However, I recommend that you research their routes, stop locations, and schedules online before you put any emphasis on utilizing their services, as they are not a city bus system and the routes are confusing and stops are sparse and poorly coordinated.
No smoking, guests are asked to clean up after themselves, and quiet time starts at 9:30 pm, out of respect for the neighbors. I take care of bedding laundry, trash, recycling, and bathroom details.
Jesse was a wonderful host. There was nothing he wouldn't do to ensure we enjoyed our stay with him. His house was lovely - very clean, homely, comfortable and with a great view too. As we were too afraid to drive on the opposite side of the road to what we were used to, he became our personal tour guide and drove us around the island. We had the most amazing unforgettable time! Every day was jam packed with incredible experiences which included: night snorkelling with manta rays, snorkelling off pristine beaches, seeing green sea turtles sunning themselves on black sands beach, visiting the city of refuge, camping and hiking in the Volcano's National Park, seeing the Thurston lava tube, flying over Pu'u O'o in a helicopter with the doors off so we could see molten lava, visiting rainbow falls, driving to the summit of Mauna Kea to experience the sun set over the snow capped peak, stand-up paddle boarding and swimming with the dolphins in Kona, hiking in the Waipi'o Valley where we saw Hawaii's tallest waterfall (over 1200 feet high) and chilling out in the stunning grounds and pools of the Hilton hotel in Waikoloa. Jesse provided us with snorkelling gear, camping gear and even warm clothes when we summited Mauna Kea as it was freezing up there. Our holiday was AMAZING and all thanks to Jesse.
Jessie was really helpful at giving some great advice where to visit during my tour. Nice tidy space with a great balcony overlooking the coast. Beautiful sunset views if you're there early evening. Great directions from Jessie on the day as it could be a little tricky to find the actual house once you find the street. Very peaceful location.
Jesse was very accommodating I booked his place last minute looking to be near the airport. He was flexible with my arrival time which was late and super generous feeding me dinner and breakfast! Super convenient to the airport I woke up late and had to run out and still made it with plenty of time. Thanks!
Awesome location, it was a prefect sunset. Great directions getting there, and a very nice clean house with huge kitchen. We caught fish that day and made fish tacos with all of Jesse's kitchen supplies.
Unfortunately we didnt end up staying at Jesse's place as we finished very late with the manta rays amd didnt want him staying up waiting for us. Not sure why but our messages (2x) didnt go through to him so we caused him to stay up anyways :( but hopefully no harm done as he had other friends staying over as well.
Jesse was an extremely gracious host and we spent a very comfortable night at his place. The room was very clean and neat and had a really sweet view of the ocean from the porch. Jesse also helped us refine our plans for the big island based on his own knowledge. In all, a great experience!
Jesse is an awesome guy! His place is very nice with a great view and in a great neighborhood. I got to hang out with him for awhile and I would go back to his place in a heart beat. He is very friendly, knowledgeable, adventurous, and a great host. I felt very comfortable and at home with him.
10 year resident of Kailua Kona. Family presence in the islands since the 40s.
I keep a tidy house and enjoy meeting new people. I'm adventurous, active, and quite familiar with the island and all that it has to offer. Surfing, hiking, camping are just a few of things I like to do in my spare time. Ask me a question and I'll likely have an in depth answer.
