The space

Authentic antique Colonial, built ca.1780, in a National Register of Historic Places district, just 2-3 miles from several great beaches. Only one party is booked at a time for privacy, so the bath is shared only with other members of your party. Delicious homemade breakfast served daily in the gracious beamed dining room (sorry, no kitchen access for guests --but we promise you'll love the breakfasts!) Beach pass is included during summer months.

Kennebunk is a peaceful little town with a great public library, historical museum, parks, tennis courts, a fishing pond, shops, restaurants, churches, and playground all within a very short walk of the Capt Chadbourne House. It's perfectly situated for walking tours of the Historic District and a sprawling historic cemetery.

During the summer, the free trolley can take you to the beach and back. For non-beach days, there are several districts of antiques shops within just a couple of miles.

Guest access

Guests have offstreet parking, private entrance, parlor, and bath. Breakfast room between guest quarters and ours is open for breakfast, then closed for the rest of the day, providing total "airlock" privacy. Guests have a small fridge in their part of the house, but no cooking facilities. The screened porch and patio are available for guest use, accessible by a path through the front garden.

Interaction with guests

We do our best to greet guests at arrival, and we serve a generous breakfast each day, customized to guests' preferences/dietary needs. Otherwise, we are available if needed for emergencies.

The neighborhood

We are in a lovely National Register Historic District with many sea captains' mansions, near parks, shops, restaurants, and numerous historic attractions in close walking distance. The village is charming, with a full range of services and recreation.

Getting around

In summer, free "trolleys" run from nearby to all the nearby beaches and attractions.

Other things to note

There is free Wi-Fi. We enjoy helping with recommendations to the best local restaurants, beaches, and entertainment.

Jane and Warren were amazing host! The breakfast every morning was fabulous and they put thought into what we would enjoy. Since we were from San Francisco they made us a sourdough tart which we thought was super sweet!! Also, their home is cute, clean and in a great location. If I ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay again.

Jane and Warren were the most welcoming hosts! We felt very comfortable staying in their home, they made it very easy. Their home is very spacious. It has three bedrooms, which are connected to each other - perfect for a family. My only regret was not asking Warren to play the grand piano they have in their dining room! I highly recommend their home.

Jane and Warren were fabulous hosts! The house was incredible and well kept. Breakfast every morning was FANTASTIC. Only thing was the upstairs bathroom shower could use some TLC. The shower curtain needed to be replaced. Everything else was lovely. Nice and quiet. Beautiful area for walks during the Fall.

Jane & Warren are wonderful people and exceptional hosts. They really took care of us during our stay. Their concern extended even to our dietary needs and exceeded any expectation we had considered. Not only did they take the extra time to shop for the special foods that we needed, the breakfasts were then lovingly prepared, beautifully served, and quite delicious. We also loved the accommodations. The rooms are spacious and wonderfully appointed. We were especially pleased with how comfortable the bed was. They helped make our visit to Maine one we will always remember. If we travel back to Maine for a visit we look forward to staying with them again.

Jane and Warren are awesome! Very attentive and the breakfast was outstanding especially the gluten-free bakery was highly appreciated by our daughter as well as from us. We liked the discussions during breakfast time and the privacy you gave us. It is a very old house, kept in good condition and with enough space for 5-6 people.

Jane & Warren User ProfileJane & Warren is a superhost.

We are enthusiastic history fans, and we love being able to share our antique 1780's Colonial home in coastal Maine, and now our Biscuit Box style cabin in Western Bay, Newfoundland, with others who appreciate historic homes. Warren is Music Director at a local UCC/UMC church in Maine, so that is where we are most of the year. We are thrilled to have found the cabin overlooking Western Bay, where most of our neighbors are related to Warren's family and we can hear the surf through our windows.
