We were in Playa del Carmen and we loved Robert and Azul's apartment. It was few minutes from the beach and close to 5th avenue. The apartment was very cozy and welcoming. It was just like the pictures. Robert and Azul are very nice hosts. David, who received us was a great person, very nice and helpful. I would definitely go back.
this was my first experience with Airbnb, the host was great to deal with. The location of the home was very good, felt very secure knowing there was a police station right outside. The 7/11 was underneath us so that was perfect. Had little issues with the wifi not working on Apple products, but the Samsung worked. The place gets very hot at night and so I resorted to turning off the fridge. The air con didn't go cold enough and so it was a hot sweat sleeping which right now in NZ we have 1 degree so cold is our normal. We would stay again, overall this was very good, we loved the experience.
Azul and Robert's place was great! Our flight was super delayed coming into Cancun, so we didn't get to the area until midnight or 1 am, and we were still able to meet a friend of David's with the key, which we very much appreciated so late, especially since we had no way of calling at that point! Once we arrived, we quickly realized what a great place the apartment was and how great the location was! Just a few minutes walk to Avenida Quinta, very easy to get in and out of, and very easy access to the main roads into and out of town. Parking was very easy and plentiful as well. It was nice to have a clean, cool, accommodating place to come back to at the end of the day. The complex was also very nice, and if we had better weather we would have spent more time at the pool! David was also very helpful, and even though there was a slight language barrier, we were able to communicate no problem. Overall, we enjoyed very much our stay at your place, and would definitely recommend it to friends and family!
We just returned from our stay. This was a nice little apartment that was easy to find with plenty of parking available. We liked the location because it was in a quiet area about a five to ten minute walk from the nicest part of bustling Avenida Quinta. The area around it had quiet a bit of construction in progress, but the complex itself was new, clean, and cozy. There was a small police kiosk outside the complex and a small store where we often purchased water and snacks. As you can see from the pictures, the pool area is surrounded by palm trees - a very relaxing and quiet place to lounge! I should note that during our stay (late May 2015) new internet was installed so we then had a very strong signal throughout the entire apartment. Residents informed us that Monday is "Massage Monday" and anyone staying there can sign up for a 90 minute massage for around $30 US. There was a lot of seaweed on the beaches during our trip, which we were told was abnormal, so we did not spend much time at the little beach by our apartment. We found nearby cenotes to be a cool alternative.
There were a few things we would change about our stay if we could. The air conditioning in the apartment is not very strong, perhaps the unit is not the appropriate size to cool down the apartment and was also located just outside the bedroom area. It cut the humidity, but definitely did not nearly reflect the temperature listed on the screen. To make sleeping more comfortable, we pulled the bed out in the middle of the room so that we could get more of the cool air from the small room adjacent to the bedroom where the unit was located. At this time of the year the pool was also very warm as it had sun almost all day long. We truly enjoyed lounging by the quiet pool (which we usually had mostly to ourselves!) but it was not exactly refreshing as it was about the same temperature as the air this time of year.
Overall this is a great little apartment for the price. David greeted us and was also there to say goodbye when it was time to leave. Although our Spanish is limited, we were able to communicate with him and found him to be a very kind and helpful "host" for our stay. Avenida Quinta, while touristy, actually had some great restaurants with excellent service and affordable prices. We liked Cueva del Chango, Aldea Corazon (dine in a cenote!), Yaxche, and Mar de las Pampas. Chez Celine was great for breakfast. We recommend renting a car so you can drive to Tulum and hit up as many cenotes as possible. We loved Cenote Azul and Jardin del Eden and also did an interesting cave swimming tour of Chaak Tun.
Robert was communicative throughout. We received a detailed document with all the information we could possibly need. The apartment was nice and close to both the beach and the main street with shops and restaurant. Everything was pretty great. The only issues we had was with the poor wifi and a/c. Other than that, this was great.
Todo fue perfecto y como dice la publicación, el departamento tiene todas las comodidades que uno necesita y está ubicado cerca de todo. Tiene mercados para comprar a media cuadra la playa a 1 cuadra, en fin, todo excelente !!
As my first Airbnb experience I couldn't have asked for much better! Building parking was ample and checking in was a breeze. David the caretaker was incredibly friendly and helpful. I really appreciated Robert's timely responses and the cleanliness of the apartment.
The apartment is stocked with beach and bath towels, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and snorkeling gear. We used the blender every morning to make juice.
The location is ideal for those looking to stay in a quieter part of town.
The 7-Eleven on the same block was great for stocking up on bottled water or snacks for the road. There's a smaller beach a short walk away and more popular ones just a little further south. You'll find most of the restaurants, bars, and shopping just a five minute walk away on Fifth Avenue. The most popular nightclubs are a bit further out and would take about twenty minutes by foot.
The only downside I can think of is that the wifi was pretty weak. For the most part I had to sit out on the back balcony to get a signal.
I would definitely recommend Robert and Azul's apartment to anyone visiting PDC!
