The space
History of House

Known as the Engelmann-Muench House, this cottage was built in 1858 by Martin Engelmann, a wealthy German immigrant. The caliche block vernacular double house sits on a site which was once part of the Alamo farmlands. The structure is a good example of a once-common San Antonio house type and features original built-in end chimneys.

Our downtown StoneHaus is located in an urban area tucked betweens several private businesses. Two historic churches sit within a city block. A small treed yard and a covered front porch allow one to enjoy a slow, relaxing morning before heading out to the four block walk to the downtown Alamo. Bring your walking shoes!
