Silvio's place was perfect for us! My wife and I were traveling with our three kids - and it was great to be able to have a central home base in Rome. Silvio even provided a pack n play for our 2YO.
The apartment is one bedroom, with a pullout sofabed in the living room - plus a kitchen and bathroom. Small - but to be expected in the middle of Rome.
But the location is amazing! The building is old but has a lot of character (cool doors and windows). Some noise from the street, especially on Saturday night - but that's expected in an area like that. Lots of cafes, restaurants, and three gelato places within a couple of blocks.
The best thing is that we could walk to everything - Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colleseum, Forum... everything!
Silvio was a great host. He had some good recommendations - including a perfect local place for dinner.
The location of this apartment is fantastic. It within walking distance of all the major attractions and there are lots of great places to eat close by. Even our 2 year old daughter managed the walk to the pantheon. The building is a traditional historic Roman building and has a lot of character. The kitchen is very small and it would be difficult to cook a proper meal in but it works well to prepare a snack and there are so many fantastic places to eat near by. The bathroom and washing machine all work well and the bed is comfortable. Silvio was there to meet us when we arrived and organized a shuttle taxi to take us and our many large bags to the airport, which was well worth the 60 euros for the convenience. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment.
Silvio is a generous host and willing to help in anyway he could. The apartment was charming and very convenient! Shopping, restaurants, and night life were all a stones throw. The apartment is a one bedroom with a pull out couch bed in the living room (that was very comfy!), which was perfect for me and my two friends. The air conditioning also came in very handy! Thanks Silvio!
My family of 4 stayed in Silvio's apartment for 2 nights. Silvio was not able to meet us for our arrival but he made arrangements for Ivana to meet us. She was there waiting for us when we arrived and even though she did not speak English and we do not speak Italian we communicated quite well! (Especially considering the fact that she needed to show us how to enter the apartment. There are 4 different keyed gates/doors in order to enter the apartment.) We were given 2 sets of keys (the other 2 apartments we stayed in during this trip only offered 1 set. Having 2 sets was a huge convenience). The apartment was clean, ready, and very comfortable for our family. My 2 tall teenage sons shared the already made up sofa bed which was very roomy and comfortable for them. Our bedroom was roomy and our bed was very comfortable as well. There were plenty of towels, soap, etc. for us. The shower has good water pressure, plenty of hot water and was roomy compared to some others we have experienced.
The location is fantastic! It is steps away from the marketplace of Campo di Fiori. We walked to everything from the Coliseum to the Vatican.
When it was time to leave we contacted a taxi company to arrange a pick up for 8AM the next morning. They said they were booked, so I contacted Silvio regarding a taxi company he would recommend to take us to the airport. (FYI: We had a dodgy experience when we arrived at the train station with an official taxi driver. He tried the trick of switching the Euro note (a 5 for a 20). Luckily my husband had read about Rome taxi drivers who try this trick and was ready for it. But we also believe the driver had used zone 2 on the taxi meter, and it should have been zone 1 because we definitely over paid). Silvio arranged to have a driver meet us the next morning for our early morning ride to the airport. It was a bit more than the flat standard rate (we paid 60 Euros vs the flat rate of 48 Euros) for a ride to the airport, but it was definitely worth it to have Giovanni waiting for us with a large van to comfortably fit us and all our luggage.
I would definitely recommend renting from Silvio and this apartment.
A very central apartment; not really big but adequate and fairly well appointed. The neighbourhood had everything you would want. Close to several major sights and to buses. Silvio was helpful and very friendly. One warning- the streets can be very noisy in the night- mostly drunk young tourists.
Silvio's apartment is a great location for walking to all of the main sights of Rome. It is 100 meters to the Campo di Fiori and 200 meters from Piazza Narvona. It was an easy walk to the Colesium, Spanish Steps, Vatican City and Trastevere. Silvio was very helpful and gave several suggestions for good restaurants in the area. The apartment is small but met our needs.
This apartment is in a brilliant location. Very central and near to so many good restaurants it was difficult to choose where to eat each night. There is also a great street market which runs every day except Sunday. The apartment is very well equipped. We did not have to buy any "household" supplies and Silvio could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. We would definitely return.
