Interaction with Guests
On weekends we sometimes like to travel around Dublin and the county and are more than happy to take guests with us if we're going somewhere interesting. We have a lot of information about different sites and are happy to answer any questions and provide advice (there are plenty of brochures brochures in the house).
We love to interact with guests and treat you like family, you are welcome to have tea with us, watch tv with us, go out shopping and do other things. If we're going somewhere interesting and you want to join we can always arrange something!
We also have a GPS with preset routes, bus cards and local SIM cards (that you can borrow and top up yourself in the newsagent 5 minutes away from the house).
The green right opposite the house is a nice place to walk. The neighborhood is fairly quiet and has some food shops, pharmacy, pub, coffee shop and newsagent all within walking distance from the house. One of the largest shopping malls is about 5-10 minutes away (car or bus) and has a 9-screen cinema, leisureplex, theatre, library and lots of nice restaurants. There are a good few take-aways around as well. A few children's play centres/parks are within reach.
We're only 12 km from city centre, so the best travel option is car. Public transportation is not always on time or reliable, and depending on time of the day it can take awhile to get around. Bus is just around the corner from the house (end/start stop), takes about 40+ minutes to get into the city centre , there are other stops a walk away which could save up to 15-20 minutes off your journey. There are 2 train stations close by (1 and 2 km away, not a straight path walk), it takes 20 minutes to city centre by train. The bus 39/39a will bring you to Trinity college, and from Suffolk St. or Aston Quay back to the estate (end stop is around the corner from the house).
Other Things to Note
We don't have a set check-in or check-out time, so long as you let us know in advance we are ok with any arrangement. We can also arrange to pick you up at the airport or drop you off (15 euro each way (taxi would cost 25+).
No loud music, no smoking. If you break something - please replace it. We wear slippers around the house. Conserve electricity and water :-)
Please note: minors under 18 must be accompanied by adults at all time.
Très bon accueil. Julie est de très bon conseil très accueillante et donne une première image de l'Irlande. Et même si la communication est pas tjs simple en anglais elle essai de faciliter les choses au mieux. Je recommande.
Julie was a fantastic host that I would highly recommend! She was willing to pick us up and drop us off at the airport for a small fee, cheaper than a taxi would have been. She is extremely pleasant and really knows her way around her town and Dublin!
At first when booking with Julie I was concerned that Dublin city center was too far from her house, but the bus ride to Dublin wasn't bad at all! Julie was kind enough to provide us with bus passes that could be easily filled with money at the corner shop. The bus stop to town is just a few minutes walk from her doorstep. The good thing about this particular bus route is that it's the beginning and end of the route! So we were never nervous about getting on and off at the right stop. The bus takes about 50 minutes, but it did not feel that long at all. I am very happy we chose a place just outside the big city.
Julie's house itself was wonderful. She provides slippers upon arrival. I can be a bit of a germaphobe, so my standards of cleanliness are quite high. Julie's home is very clean, cozy and comfortable!
She provides a continental breakfast, hairdryer, towels, and her expertise on everything Dublin. My only regret with booking with Julie is that we couldn't stay longer!
Thanks so much for the fantastic stay!
Julie was very welcoming and friendly. She was there on time and accommodated us for parking.
This was such a pleasant stay! First of, Julie welcomed us with some warm slippers and a lovely trip though her huge house. Everything is super tidy and the bedroom was so cute and cozy that I'll definitly miss that bed. Julie is a great host. You can really tell that she's passionate about it. Also she's probably the best Guide in Ireland. She knows every castle and can give you great advice if you're planning a sight seeing tour. The breakfast was plenty and there's an incredible lot of different tea.
One night my boyfriend and I were out in the city center. Driving there by bus was no problem at all. It takes one adventurous hour if you're used to driving on the right side of the road. Julie drew us a map to make sure we would find the bus stops to get on and of which was super helpful. Her boyfriend is really nice also. So if you want to feel home, don't hesitate to book at Julie's :)
Julie and David are a wonderful couple who hosted us wonderfully. They directed us all, help us in many ways and we are very grateful for everything. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, nice house, clean, tidy with everything we needed. We are grateful to you for everything. Lots of warm greetings from Ana-Marija, Manuel, Ivona and Tomislav.
INCREDIBLE hosts! It was the first time I felt at home since moving to England from the States two months ago. The house and neighborhood is quite; bedroom: comfy, clean, and warm.
Never had difficulty traveling into the city centre or finding my way back home.
