The cabana is located next to Finca beach house on six acres one mile north of Placencia village. 200 feet of beautiful white sand beach are just steps from the house. Our property also stretches all the way to the lagoon, where you can kayak and bird watch. There is a small reef 70 feet from the water's edge where starfish, sea urchin and many colorful fish can be found. The water is calm and safe for swimming. The secluded sandy front yard has papaya, almond and cashew trees, coconut, hibiscus and other flowering bushes. Bicycles, hammocks and beach chairs are provided for your enjoyment. Town is an easy 30 minute walk along the beach or a quick bike ride or taxi away.
We built our structures with a respect for the natural landscape and as the peninsula gets more developed, our finca has become a haven for the multitudes of birds that make Placencia their home. The traditional Belizean wooden cabana is located on the beach next door to the beach house. Built on stilts, you can catch the breeze while watching the sunrise from the deck out front. There is a queen bed, futon couch, fully stocked kitchenette and bathroom with hot water shower. Sleeps 4 max.
We provide complimentary bicycles for your use. There is a small pretty well stocked kitchen and a private shady yard right on the beach.
Interaction with Guests
I live in Vermont and only get to visit 2x a year if I am lucky but we have fabulous caretakers- Val, Valerie and Jose who are on site and will take good care of you. Check out my other property listed on airbnb, FInca beach house as well.
I chose to settle in Placencia because I fell in love with the village which has a tightly knit community and I did not feel like I stuck out as a gringo there. FInca is just a quick ride out of town so you have some privacy and still have easy access to the village.
We provide bikes for your use. There are busses that run a few times a day and inexpensive taxis available all the time.
Kids 12 and under stay for free!
We felt at home as soon as our toes hit the sand, the cozy cabana was everything we could have hoped for in a relaxing getaway and more. Perfect accommodations for 2, with a well-stocked kitchenette, clean bathroom and comfortable bed. Property itself was lovely and provided the right amount of shade to beat the Caribbean heat. Ample hammocks and lounging areas were just what we needed to put our feet up and forget about life's troubles! Val and Jose were within shouting distance and more than willing to help make our stay as care-free as possible - this included fresh from the tree coconut milk on the house. The resort next door never took away from our enjoyment as the view straight ahead through the foliage to the beach was a picture of paradise. Great neighbors in the house next door made the experience that much more enjoyable. Wagging tails from the resident dogs - Marley and Rambo - greeted us each morning, especially if bacon was cooking which it often was. Couldn't have felt more welcome and natural in our adopted environment, the bikes made Placencia that much more accessible and we were able to take in the surroundings at our own pace in perfect balance between refined living and "off the beaten path". I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend Andrea and Finca Beach as an ideal jumping off point for experiencing Placencia and Belize, couldn't have been happier with the process from the moment we landed in town. Short ride to and from the airport and overall great home base for to accommodate all points in between. Hope to return before too long!
Loved it. Private, quiet and the cabana had everything we needed. We found renting a golf cart for the week made things more accessible.
We had a wonderful stay at Finca Beach. The setting was ideal with trees to provide shade, string up hammocks and plenty of sunshine on the beach. Many places scrape the vegetation and replant. Andrea and staff have done a wonderful job preserving and adding to the varied vegetation. I rode into town about a 1 to 1 1/2 miles daily to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. We bought fish and lobster at the pier as well. The quiet location was just right for my wife and I but close enough to enjoy the restaraunts and beach bars in town. Caretaker Val and Valerie as well as Gardner Jose were helpful and fun to interact with. Rambo & Marley the watch dogs welcomed us each time we returned from our outings. I enjoyed the beach chairs with my morning coffee at sunrise everyday. We snorkeled right off the beach and saw many fish on the coral 50 yards out. If your looking for a quiet place to relax with access to the activities the town has to offer this is your kind of spot. We were sad to leave! We will return.
Overall, we were disappointed with our stay because:
Facility needed a thorough cleaning before we wanted to unpack or use the shower or stock the refrigerator.
Owner needs to insure that flashlights/candles around due to power outages. We had to ride to town on bikes in dark to get ours when power went out 10 minutes after our arrival.
Due to damp conditions and lack of dryer on property, linens and towels were never completely dry.
Unit would benefit greatly from a microwave. It only has old electric cooktop.
One of two bikes provided needs to be replaced.
The location is great. It is private yet close enough to town. Mariposa Restaurant was great to have nearby. We did love The Shak at the end of the road in town as well as Omar's.
We LOVED it. It was everything plus more. The town of Placencia was just what we were looking for. The caretaker Val and his family were the "BEST". The girls taught Dennie how to "Paddle Board". Just to the left and right you could take a 5 min walk and enjoy Happy Hour. The walk to town via the beach was "Fantastic". We rode the bikes to town at least once a day. If you want rest and relaxation this is for you, the sound of the waves while laying on the hammock. Val's girls we a delight to have around. We will be back in time, although I hate to visit the same place twice.
Very nice and cozy beach hut only about 15 meters from the beach, located only 400 meters south of the Placencia Airport and around 2,5 kilometers north of Placencia Village with a lot of restaurants, supermarkets and tour operators.
The caretakers Val and Valerie were very helpful.
Unfortunately there is a newly built ugly resort directly at the left hand side of the beach cabana.
So sad next door was a great little resort called kitty's place which was lovely and naturally landscaped. The people who bought it built los porticos villas. Unfortunately that seems to be the wave of the future for our little peninsula. If you want to visit Placencia before it turns into cancan, come soon
This is my third attempt at leaving a review. Everything else about our trip was fantastic! Imagine a cozy treehouse with a balmy ocean breeze. The four acre property made us feel like we were on a very private beach . We were, however a very short walk to the Turtle Inn resort which was fabulous for happy hour and two for one pizza Sunday ! On the other side we found Mariposa, a loveley accommodation with a great upstairs restaurant . Bruce and Sharon were great hosts and the food was out of this world. We also enjoyed bike rides into the village, and the other direction to the marina at Robert's Grove. There we met Paul Bulman, captain of the Chkm8., a lovely single hill 40' sailing boat. He does both snorkke and fishing tours. Val took great care of us . We loved snorkeling out in front of the cabana . Sunrise on the front porch with coffee, and sunset in the hammock with drinks. Even the rainy day was cozy and romantic. This was a wonderful getaway for our 13th anniversary , and we would surely return!
