Interaction with Guests

I am a photographer and I previously used the space as my photographic studio. I have recently converted it to be used as a self catering apartment yet you will be able to sense how this wonderful space is definitely special! My own apartment, where I life, is next floor, so I am always available if there is anything you need or if you have any question.

The Neighborhood

The apartment is located right in the middle of Madrid's central district in what is known as Madrid's Soho ( MALASAÑA neighborhood ). One block away from the busy San Ildefonso square. This is without a doubt one of the trendiest, most exciting areas of this incredibly vibrant city. The area has innumerable shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, galleries, theaters, etc literally at your doorstep.
The building is a protected historical building from 1890, in a lovely small street boasting heaps of character! The space is very bright and sunny and even though it's centrally located it is very quiet and peaceful.

Getting around

Very well connected with the airport, the Tribunal metro station is less than 5 minutes walk from the studio.
The apartment's privileged central location will allow you to walk to most of Madrid's tourist attractions. However, if you want to use the metro, you have a variety of underground stations at minutes walk - Tribunal, Chueca, Bilbao and Gran Via stations are the closest.

  • The studio is very centrally located, the design of the flat is really great and many nice add-ons are available (breakfeast, good sound system, ...)

On top of it, Alvaro was very helpful and provided us with excellent advice on museums, restaurant & bars, as well as practical information about transportation.

It made our first time in Madrid fantastic!

  • Alvaro was the perfect host! upon arrival me and my partner were met by him in the flat wear he spent a good amount of time answering our questions about the city and giving us superb recommendations to eat, drink, and sight see. Aswel as this we were always able to contact Alvaro with a quick and helpful responses about Madrid! it was the perfect welcome to madrid. the apartment was great to stay in; very clean, great locations, good amenities, and a stocked refrigerator. the apartment was great to come back to at the end of the day as well as comfortable to relax in during a siesta. after traveling around Madrid i found the location of this apartment to be in my favourite area/neighbourhood. i highly recommend a stay here!! Would love to return.

  • The studio is a great size; it is furnished with amazing and interesting things, full of guide books and information, a Mac and has a brilliantly fun wet room with shower, sink and toilet. The apartment is located in Malasana, a really cool district within walking distance of everywhere you’d want to see in Madrid. Really easy to find, really easy to stumble back to but also somewhere you feel at home the second you walk in. The fridge was full and the bottle of Cava was a lovely touch, saved us stocking up at the local supermarket for snacks.

And then there’s Alvaro; possibly the coolest and nicest host you could ever wish to meet. Not only has he photographed some of the biggest people on the planet (including Lionel Messi!), he was a fountain of knowledge and I genuinely don’t think we’d have had 1/10th as good a time in Madrid if it wasn’t for him. Upon arrival we sat down and he let us in on the secret places of the city, the nooks and crannies, the lost bars and best restaurants, and how to get to them. We’d have been lost without his advice, and we’d have wasted hours on the Metro instead of walking everywhere like he suggested. It turns out Alvaro is one of Madrid’s biggest assets in himself, and we can’t wait to come back and stay again. Much love!

  • I am beyond thankful for my good luck in finding Alvaro and this gorgeous apartment. He has the eyes of an artist. This is evidenced in the quality and placement of every piece of furniture and every item set into this delightful, cheery, luminous loft. It is a happy place, a place you want to come home to, because of the passion and care taken by the owner and because the space radiates the kindness and good-spirited personality of the owner.
I had four incredibly quiet nights' sleep despite the busy location in the heart of the vibrant old town neighborhood, Malasana. The apartment is close to sights, metros, nightlife, shops, groceries, everything.
Traveling as a single woman, I was safe walking around the neighborhood at night and to the apartment. The refrigerator was stocked high with wonderful treats.
Upon arrival, Alvaro assisted me in understanding the sights, locations and what not to miss. He knows and loves his great city, Madrid; he has a great sense of humor, and is a very good person. I won't forget Alvaro and this wonderful space he has created.
Remember - no lift but generous stairs, a gorgeously fitted, interesting wet bath, and so many extras.

  • Alvaro is very friendly and helpful, he lives in the same building, we arrived late and he was there waiting for us without charging any extra cost. He gave us plenty of tips, what to visit in the city, art exhibitions, places to have a drink...etc
The studio itself is atypical, very well located, easy to find and quiet, even though it is situated in a very animated area.

  • I had another fantastic stay at Alvaro's place in Madrid!

The studio is in an amazing location. It is bang in the middle of town, a the cutest tiny street surrounded by bars, restaurants, shops, coffee shops, you name it. Surprisingly though, once you are inside it is dead quiet so we slept great.

The studio is super bright, really really spacious, with lots of light and beautiful modern decor. What really made me feel like home was how when we arrived I had a proper coffee machine, milk in the fridge and even a bottle of cava... all for free.

Alvaro, lives on the apartment just bellow, so communication could have not been faster. Alvaro was warm and helpful yet relaxed in the way he dealt with us, a real joy. He was key in helping us discover some amazing little places we would have never found ourselves.

All in all, a wonderful stay and already planning another visit. Thank you Alvaro!

  • Alvaro's apartment was perfect for our short stay in Madrid, and he was a fantastic host. He greeted us and helped with our bags during the climb (the stairs aren't so bad, I promise!) He provided us with a map, and suggestions for our stay. Communication was consistent. The location is perfect - just 5 minutes away from the Gran Via (close to two metro stations). The apartment was modern but cozy, and I would definitely recommend it! Thank you for a fantastic stay, Alvaro.
